Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I got a how to starter kit for Xmas, but the diagrams on it just do not help me. I wanted to see someone with REAL hands do it! Thanks again. I subscribed.
i seem to be doing this backward... or upside down. my chains look incorrect until i turn them over, and the backside looks correct. this is my 2nd day of crocheting, and i am right-handed. any advise?
you are awesome! i've always wanted to learn crocheting but noone around me knew how to do it :( finally today i bought some thread and a crocheting hook, and with your video i already know how to make chains :D :D thank you so much for your help!
You are welcome. You will find some similarities with counting and keeping track of stitches. Since you are a knitter you probably know that learning the specific language and abbreviations is also important.
I've been trying to read patterns to advance myself a bit with crocheting, but I think I'm counting chains wrong. Are there 14 in this video? If I'm right maybe I'm just losing track of the chains when doing the beginning since you do have to make over 100 before you can make a decent sized blanket.
I apologize for missing this question and taking so long to answer. Yes, I counted 14. I had to watch the video since it has been so long. It can be easy to lose count with your chain.
There is no way to prevent it from happening when you are learning to crochet other than practice. As you progress with crochet, you will develop a control of your tension. What is happening is that sometimes you are holding your yarn to tight, and others you may be holding it to loose which makes your chains different. You can focus on holding your yarn the same as it goes through your fingers, so your chains will be the same. You will get it with practice.
The beginning chain is a slip knot. You are making the starting chain in such a way that you can form a new chain loop. By making a regular knot, you may just be taking your knot apart. It will all make sense once you learn the basics.

Your chain might be getting a little twisted. Keep practicing and you will get it.

miah235 3 years ago
You can make sweaters. I would suggest Google for a free pattern search. There are a lot of free patterns out there.

Thanks so much, okay how do we knew when to stop? Does it depend what we are making?
Icecreamistoogood 3 years ago
It depends on what you are making. Your instructions or you will determine your chain length.

My chains always end up too tight in some places and too loose in other places. How do I prevent this from happening? Thanks so much!
