I think this is a really good song but the chorus lyrics are kinda lame. Sammy was a great reason Van Halen didn't disappear. They almost went down in flames with Gary Cherone, so Sammy deserves a lot of credit. It's also nice to see Satriani in a band situation; he really makes the song.

Nothing wrong with that though, and with the lean pickings in the rock scene these days, I'll take what I can get! In Bachs and Mozarts day music was shared and tossed around. Lawyers and labels stopped all that. When it can't grow, it stifles and runs out of ways to grow. You don't own the music, you just set it loose.
Sammy still has the range that others lost years ago. Me like. Saw him last summer and he was as good as ever. Rock on Red Rocker. Show those punks what longevity is all about.

honestly i havent heard a song yet that blows me away. the album seems to lack any kind of decent song writing . EVH songwriting is brilliant. This sounds like SH solo with a bit more widdly diddly from satch. Sammy hasnt written a great song since theres only one way to rock. Satch is great no doubt at all but never a great song writer. I hope it does well , hope it sells millions! VH album will be the one ill be waiting to buy Rock on!!!

Progress cares about new. Why do you assume that new has to equate a magnum opus? Hagar's best work outside of VH (and possibly Montrose) was Marching to Mars. There were finer elements of music on that album, new for Hagar, that surpassed any effort he made in the early '80s. He updated himself on that album, and it sounded good (even lyrically, which seems hard for Hagar to do!). Was that album a magnum opus? Hardly, but it was fresh. Chickenfoot is yesterday's recycling.

You are so right about Roth's vocals. I never heard that guy sing that didn't make me absolutely cringe. His arrogance and conceit made it even worse for me. I can't imagine why VH even took that guy as their frontman. I suspect it had to do with something other than his vocals. Those guys were TOO GOOD to settle for Roth as their vocalist.

Satriani with his original touring group back in 1988 was great live. Hagar's voice is still astounding. He can still scream. Glad he stayed fit and didn't do hard drugs. He exaggerated his drinking with the tequila thing.

I agree that EVH is, pretty much, the biggest punk in music history, next to Axel Rose. But, like him or not, he's in the top 5 best guitarists of all time, and he's certainly the fastest I've ever heard. By the way, we pay to hear their songs, and to see their shows, not to tell them how to live their lives.

I have seen VH about 20 times and Red Rocker kicks ass! last time I saw Roth was back in the late 80's at the Del Mar Fair for $5.00 and he SUCKED! and by the way, you should do your home work because last time I checked Joe Satriani was Steve Vai's Teacher and that is who Roth went on to play with.

I think this is a really good song but the chorus lyrics are kinda lame. Sammy was a great reason Van Halen didn't disappear. They almost went down in flames with Gary Cherone, so Sammy deserves a lot of credit. It's also nice to see Satriani in a band situation; he really makes the song.

I agree with a lot of the comments about "nothing new here" but who really cares? Hagar is a ROCK ICON and I dig just about everything he's done. Marching to Mars and Ten 13 were my favorite post VH albums but to see the RED ROCKER still jamming strong after all these years .... well let's just say .... HELLO BABY!!!!

Lots of everything to keep you moshing. There is no lack of talent here, the song rocks, but it's like a rehash of all the choice licks and riffs by a tight band engineered well. Nothing wrong with that though, and with the lean pickings in the rock scene these days, I'll take what I can get! In Bachs and Mozarts day music was shared and tossed around. Lawyers and labels stopped all that. When it can't grow, it stifles and runs out of ways to grow. You don't own the music, you just set it loose.

This is great! It does resemble somewhat of Montrose as I saw them several times back in the 70's and that's still one of my favorite all time LP's.
You can definitely hear Satriani's great guitar licks in the song, great tune!!

honestly i havent heard a song yet that blows me away. the album seems to lack any kind of decent song writing . EVH songwriting is brilliant. This sounds like SH solo with a bit more widdly diddly from satch. Sammy hasnt written a great song since theres only one way to rock. Satch is great no doubt at all but never a great song writer. I hope it does well , hope it sells millions! VH album will be the one ill be waiting to buy Rock on!!!

Progress cares about new. Why do you assume that new has to equate a magnum opus? Hagar's best work outside of VH (and possibly Montrose) was Marching to Mars. There were finer elements of music on that album, new for Hagar, that surpassed any effort he made in the early '80s. He updated himself on that album, and it sounded good (even lyrically, which seems hard for Hagar to do!). Was that album a magnum opus? Hardly, but it was fresh. Chickenfoot is yesterday's recycling.

You are so right about Roth's vocals. I never heard that guy sing that didn't make me absolutely cringe. His arrogance and conceit made it even worse for me. I can't imagine why VH even took that guy as their frontman. I suspect it had to do with something other than his vocals. Those guys were TOO GOOD to settle for Roth as their vocalist.

Sammy Hagar was so much better than David Lee Roth and he's been singing like this since Montrose in 1974. Early on Roth was no slacker. I saw VH in 1979 and 1984. They were hungry in '79.
TEMPLE OF THE DOG did rock hard and I was bummed they had just one studio recording.
Satriani with his original touring group back in 1988 was great live. Hagar's voice is still astounding. He can still scream. Glad he stayed fit and didn't do hard drugs. He exaggerated his drinking with the tequila thing.
