  • Ok...I LOVE April Wine....but wasn't this done originally by Hot Chocolate? My ultimate dream is to have an April Wine tribute band! Yeah....I'm kinda lame but I'm o.k.! lol

  • Miles looks like David Lindley in a way.

  • @Subhuman80

why isn't Miles in the middle?

  • @meatspinner1989 Miles is everywhere. He's Omniscient, a god man.

  • Jim Clench..............R.I.P.

  • Myles can't hide his disdain over lip synching.

  • ALRIGHT! COULD HAVE BEEN HERE TONIGHT!

  • 12 people could have been a lady.

  • I helped load their music gear into Le Manoir (Montreal) for shows back in the 70's... it was a hall attached to a Church. They were just practicing "Could Have Been A Lady ", that's all I remember about it... good to hear this song!

  • @bchost - Le Manoir was our brasserie of choice in the 80s! Guy and Bernie, best waiters ever.

  • @FreeRangeHooker im going to see them there too!

  • @FreeRangeHookers man same

  • @FreeRangeHookers aww dude! SO LUCKY!!!

  • @FreeRangeHookers I'm from the Nish' and I had no clue, I fucking love them!

  • @FreeRangeHookers

They may have originated from Nova Scotia but there hay days only included Myles Goodwin. The other members were replaced by guys from Quebec and Ontario. I should know they only played at our high school a dozen times and my buddies and I were the one to book them. As a matter of fact they owe the school a concert after taking a $1500.00 down payment for a concert but renaged without giving the money back because they had a higher paying gig elswhere.

  • @FreeRangeHookers their lead singer is from woodstock newbrunswick .. ;)

  • @FreeRangeHookers Would you go if it wasn't free?

  • @MrJohnnyDistortion oh hell yes...there an awesome band im only 22 but iv listened to them since i was knee high to a grasshopper

  • @FreeRangeHookers Agreed! Best band to come from Canada in it's time, especially from Nova Scotia where I and my family are from. also Trailer Park Boys, another Nova Scotia Favourite :D

  • @CNRailWabamun thanks!! Its nice to see a Fellow Nova Scotian

  • @CNRailWabamun trailer park boys is boring and embarrasing.

  • @jabom99 Fuck...your boring and embarrassing

  • @jabom99 Which one are you - Siegfried or Roy?

  • One of my very first music purchases (after a period of Archies/Monkees)..I believe $0.89 cents for the 45 at Muir's Drugstore in Michigan...

  • unbelievable. i remember hearing all these songs thinking they were unreal always wondering who the fuck sang them. heard april wine on a hockey video, loved the song, searched em. here are all these fuckin songs! haha unreal

  • The Hot Chocolate original is waaay better than this one.

  • ah, the good old dayd when rock stars actually played a instrument on stage and had talent!

  • Made my younger sis by the 45 with her babysitting money ha ha ha ha we played it over and over and over and over and you get the picture huh.....

  • Too F@#$%^%$# Coool! Long Rock CanAdA!~ Champion Band!

  • Frigging hate lip synch.... Saw Miles and the Boys in Perth, ON recently. Great as ever ....

  • I saw these gus at the old Sydney Forum in Sydney, Nova Scotia on July11th-1975. "OOO Watta Rush"!!!

  • Jimmy Clench added a lot to this band. One of Canada's most talented bassists ever.

  • Should April Wine get inducted into the the hall of fame some day. Canadian bands such as Rush Stepphenwolf and the Guess Who are not in either.

  • @TheHappynot

Are there any Canadian artists in the hall of fame besides Neil Young? I don't know if I can think of any. Also I think Rush will probably be the first Canadian band to get in, at least I would hope so. April Wine definitely deserves a spot in there as well.

  • I love AP!!!

  • agreed

  • are u alright!!!

  • Good band. But not even close to Rush.

  • @rush2112pete I don't even think rush was that great...they were good and songs like limelight rocked but they have nothing like this, they made good music but like rolling stones I think people just love them for no real reason that I ever understood. thumbs up pls

  • not as good as RUSH...but definately talented!!!

  • Myrtal, It's a shame, fate of the game, the way Your lied to. Could have been a lady.

  • I remember April wine...a great band....however in my opinion the best rock band out of Canada is Frank Marino..and Mahogany Rush....

  • Canadian Bands April Wine, Rush, Heart, Triumph, BTO, Guess Who, Great Bands...Heart ! ! !

  • @darrenable1 you forgot about Trooper

  • @darrenable1

Ummm, dude. You do realize that Heart is an American band that formed in Seattle Washington? Heart is not Canadian at all. Don't know where you got that idea from. With that said Rush and Triumph are/were great bands. April Wine is good.

  • @darrenable1 Heart is NOT Canadian.

  • @loungelizard5000 No, you're right, Heart are not from Canada, specifically Vancouver. BUT They did spend many of their early years up here, played at High School dances, Sweeny Todd (Nick Gilder) did too. Heart recorded their first album at Mushroom Studios on 6th avenue in van. Something to do with the Viet Nam war draft. Bachman Turner Overweight are Canadian. Arent they in the HOF?

  • @viscount100 Thanks for the info.

  • @viscount100 ...I think Ann or Nancy's boyfriend at the time was in Van avoiding the Draft...I can understand nowadays why someone would do that...

  • I always thought they were saying "could've been all mine" somewhere in there...that would've made sense too.

  • could of been a lady!

  • @brandonskanes b to the skanessss! haha i love this song

  • April Wine started as a kick-ass Chester Basin, Nova Scotia rock funk band and "Could Have Been A Lady" is a totally in the pocket riff with great vocals. I wore that 45 out in 72. I've listened to these guys for years with various players. They are totally underrated and have a respectable catalog of music. RO!

  • i hope they come to the fall fair in cambridge again. and again, and again and so on lol

  • These guys were totally under-rated, it's a shame really.

  • Whom ever posted that April Wine is Canada's answer to Steppenwolf is a moron. Steppenwolf is/was a Canadian Band!!! If you look up the history of Steppenwolf you will note it was formed, NOT in LA but in Toronto! Albeit the original band was called something different, and without pulling up the band's history I'll be damned if I can remember the original name!! But this happens when ya hit 60!!

  • @MrJetb fuck ya!

  • @prjctcivilian - Wow there's a well thought out and educated response!! Who'd ya get to help you with the spelling and the typing??? LOL LOL LOL LOL

  • @MrJetb Go look uo Ed solo and school of thought, " when I was a yout" that track is a good introduction to Dub step, the hottest trend in music in probably 20 years. Dub step is the new digital music that is taking over new age Dance parties like SHambhala. I like all music from every generation they never stop creating its AWESOME. When I was a yout is a remix of a reggae track but its a sweet track. go check it out it is on you utbe.

  • The Beatles set the standard and April Wine were doing there best to Impress!

There must have been magic in the air in those days!

  • only 228 thousand!?!?! This is an amazing song!

  • hahaha these guys are coming to my town in august : D

  • Canad's answer so Steppenwolf.

Actually, it would be more Canadian to pose a question. Eh?

  • @Morganizer Uh... Steppenwolf IS Canadian... mostly. The band was formed in L.A., but only one of the founding members wasn't Canadian.

  • better than the beatles! hily under8ed

  • NOVA SCOTIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great Canadian band!

  • rush was

  • April Wine, Prism, Rush, etc... CANADA KICKS ASS

  • ya... im 42 in May...

    i remember,

    FULLY!!!!!

  • good ole april wine classic!!

  • Just discovered this band from the movie High Life. Good movie, great music!

  • Ah, an old Canuck rock tradition: find an overseas hit that nobody here knows about, cover it and make it your own Canadian hit. April Wine did it with *two* British songs: Hot Chocolate's "Could Have Been a Lady", and Elton John's "Bad Side of the Moon". Before that, the Guess Who did it with Johnny Kidd's "Shakin' All Over" and Terry Jacks did it with Jacques Brel's "Seasons in the Sun".

At least the Canadian versions generally improve on the originals.

  • @fabrikk60 Don't forget Chilliwack's version of Quiver's "In the Arms of Mary"!

  • I didn't know about that one! I see it was done by Sutherland Brothers + Quiver (not Quiver alone) in 1976, then Chilliwack covered it in '78.

  • fuck ya!!!

    as in if

    dig deeper

    <3

  • they r sooo awesome. im soo pround tht they r from halifax.

  • ..but they migrated to Montreal and became a local band here!;)

  • @malawri67 What year is this? I had all there stuff in the day but never heard this.

  • @92m30 '72

  • Great CDN Band. Saw these guys in concert back in 82 Vancouver.

  • ya just got tickets so im pumped

  • Hey buffspringfield, some of us Americans DO know that there are a heck of a lot of great bands north of the border besides Rush and Guess Who. April Wine is one of them, for sure. Great song!

  • Loverboy!

  • god dam this band is so enjoyable to listen too

  • hagstrom guitar?

  • Lifetime Achievment award and in the canadian music industry hall of fame after 40 years they should have got it in the early 80s

  • Right on krazymama. we got quite a few great Canadian bands the Americans probably dont know that, lol

  • How about Moxy ? They were Good

  • another awesome CANADAIN ROCK BAND

  • they actually sound alot like foghat. heard this on the radio and thought it was foghat, the lead singer sounds alot like lonesome dave pervett. great song

  • you mean fog hat sounds like them. I think they were around before fog hat I may be corrected as im not 100 percent sure.

  • april wines first album was 71 and foghats was 72 so idk but i think april wine came first

  • hey the next time you stick your nosle in his tank, Tell him I said hi too.

  • i see miles goodwin all the time at the gas station were i work... nice guy

    and he makes awesome music

  • man, that must be awesome.

  • you reckon the Jackson 5 were listening to this song when they thought of "Blame it on the boogie"?

It was released 6 years after this and sounds remarkably similar.

  • well, this song was a cover, but maybe, although I doubt it.

  • My uncle's sister's cousin was friends with the drummers third cousins friend from his oldest brother

  • Sick guitar riff.

  • This song really reminds me of The Guess Who. (No Sugar Tonight?)

But April Wine really had talent. Thanks for posting this.

  • @smegweevil implying The Guess Who didn't have talent??? LOL

  • @jchofler3: I wasn't implying that The Guess Who didn't have talent. I am from Winnipeg myself and still have huge respect for The Guess Who. Those guys have far more talent than many band!

  • @smegweevil I know, but I couldn't resist the dig! LOL I LOVE the Guess Who, BTO, Doug and The Slugs, Neil Young, Rush...... Canada has prod
