Thanks for posting this. I was told I had to have a liver biopsy and was very nervous. this helped so much and I can relax while I wait for my appointment- 2 months from now.
had one today, had to take shallow breaths then hold my breath very difficult and the hardest part of the thing. also weird is 10 hours later the pain is in my shoulder and abdomen not at the needle site
I had one today and i felt it...i got no med or sedation or relaxants...just numbing crap...im in a lil pain...they took bout 4 samples....its not that bad tho...jus wish they gave me something for pain!
yeah i just had a liver biopsy yesterday nothing to it they gave me fentanyl and Versed to relax you and its a fairly short precedure, afterwords if it does hurt they may give you a pain medication such as demerol at least thats what they gave me. and then send you home. i was a little worried before i had my liver biopsy if it would hurt and now i can absolutely say its painless!!
Thank you so much for posting this.I have my biopsy tomorrow and I have been so freaked out.I really dont know why considering some of the things I did and contracted HepC through. But that was aother lifetime ago and I'm a different person! This helped allay my fears! :D
I have had two liver biopsies. The first one is always more stressful than the second simply because you don't know what to expect. As far as pain goes, the lidosene numbing agent honestly hurts far worse than the actual biopsy. The biopsy itself doesn't hurt TOO bad though you can feel it no doubt. You most likely will have a sensation similar to standing up too fast afterward, but that is normal. As far as "not feeling a thing"...well, thats just not true.
I've had 2 ultrasound guided liver biopsies in the last 12 months and i can confirm that it really is a quick and easy procedure. They numb the area and the actual biopsy only takes a few seconds.
The popping sound on the video is the sound of the machine that collects the biopsy. It sounds loud (a bit like a childs cap gun) but you don't feel a thing.
You were put out for these? That sounds a bit excessive but understandable for some. Yes, I can attest you are quite sore afterward and for a few weeks after.
i think he clapped his hands to emphasize how quick it was, im getting one next week and that freaked me out but i looked at other videos and it didnt happen

Yes, Thank you for sharing this! My Dad has to go in for one, and we were quite concerned what the procedure would entail.
This is VERY reassuring!!
