@webgeek6 i cant believe you saw him 2 times, wow thats just made my day,how was he ??? were you close to the front ??? i never seen him ever, but its always nice to talk to someone who has seen him live,,sort of leaves you empty inside knowing he,s gone such a huge huge loss, cheer,s sydney down under!!!!
Saw Stevie at the Meadowlands in 1984 opening up for the Moody Blues. Although the Moodies were great, it was Stevie that blew me away. He sat on the edge of the stage an played Little Wing. Everyone listened and were amazed. His stardom shot up from there and the rest was history. It was truly a sad day for me when he died.
He was the greatest rock guitarist ever. So natural, so soulful.
hey thanks for the info ill be sure to check it out. iv been learning a lot of his music and when i heard him talk about recording with his brother it left me very curious.
@redman10md You bet he did! He recorded an album with his brother in 1990, the year he left us. It's under the name "The Vaughan Brothers" and the album's called "Family Style." Check out the album, it's really good, especially the last song "Brothers" where Stevie and Jimmie take turns taking the guitar from each other and playing solos!!
I was there that night! Also 88'. Every show Stevie played near NYC, I attended. The Ritz.. Jeff Beck and Stevie were amazing @ MSG.. 7 row... The pier shows went on for days... nyc was different then.. not better or worse... just different
@mrpicky510 he was clean and sober here until his death. The one regret Stevie had was that he realized so many focused on his consumption and for the last 3 years of his life, he passed that message throughout his shows, interviews, everywhere he went.
@mrpicky510 How am I the troll you chunk of shit???? I just pointed out how your retarded ass comment was factually incorrect. Don't be mad just cuz you're a moronic, worthless cum dumpster that no one will ever care one millionth as much about as the casual fan cares about Stevie!!!!
rIf there's something you don't want to see or hear, just skip over it! Ignore it! Whatever! If it's nothing bad or personal being said about YOU personally.......you know what I mean?
I LOVE SRV and I'd rather people talk about the vid =)
he can put whatever he wants on the internet. Who are you to tell him he cant? and hes probably not trying to push his beliefs on you.(maybe idk) maybe hes tellin it because he realizes theres a heaven and a hell and you gotta go to one or the other. maybe because he cares about you and where you're gonna end up. I'm not tellin you youre goin to hell, I'm just sayin chill out this dudes probably sayin it because he dont want you to go to hell. or maybe he's just a hypocrite :p. for real though.
Hendrix had to go to the UK to be "discovered", SRV most likely would have been an extremely talented but relatively unknown guitarist on the icehouse/ chitlin circuit if Bowie and the Stones had not have recognized his enormous talent and put him in front of big/influential audiences. Gives you an idea of what kind of morons control the American music industry.
The interviews he did after he became sober are so much more insightful, in my opinion. Love and miss this guy. Have had Texas Flood in my car for months now.
His voice sin't really like his singing, when i first heard him in an interview i was like DAMN hes got GREAT vocals. You can kinda tell his music vocals when he talks but just barely
srv is my fucking hero in the blues he just fucking rocks the fuck out of my soul every time i hear his music so who ever made this video is kick ass and so is Jimi Hendrix he fucking rocks too so let me say it srv JH you guys rocks and im sorry for jimi for choking on your vomit and im sorry srv that you died in a plane crash so anyways come check out my acount at mybearasssss ya i know its weid but deal with is thanks this is mybearasssss and 1 more time thanks thanks thanks jimi steave rocks
i would have to guess somewhere around 1987-89. Just take a look at his dress. That necklace wasn't found on him until after his rehab days. But yeah, somewhere around that period. It wouldn't be any later because sometime in '89 he started wearing the all black bolero hat and the vests.
I hope that when i die stevie will b there so i can play with him. Never got to see him. Died right after i was born. That would b my dream to play with the master.
I really like SRV's music too. But, I have to tell you that if you want to get to Heaven, you need to put your faith and your trust in Jesus Christ. Repent of your sins and obey God. He is the master of all masters and king of kings. Maybe you already know this and are living it? I hope so.
@edadan2009 you religious freaks take every little opportunity you get to push your cause dont you. totally unsolicited and you come here saying your piece..nothing in his comment asked for advice from the christian crowd on the internet. it just gets so old reading things like you said.."repent your sins..obey god..put faith in jesus" you people come at everyone in this condescending way, as if youve "got it all figured out" and everyone else is in need of help to get there.
So, what will happen to you when YOU die? Are you ready to face Jesus Christ? If you have denied Him in this life, He will deny you when you stand before Him. We only have two choices - Heaven or hell.
@edadan2009 shut the fuck up you self righteous piece of shit. Pushing your beliefs on other people (on fucking youtube?) is a ticket to hell. Be blessed, bitch go pray punk. fuck you praise allah
You're badly mistaken, Jeremy. I'm not "self" righteous - I'm made righteous in God's sight through faith in Jesus Christ. You need Him more than you know.
@edadan2009 see, but who are you to tell me what i need? say i need allah? am i going to hell? you dont know my relationship with god, bla bla bla why the fuck am i arguing with you, your never going to stop judging other based on their worship of christ. its a damn shame, self rightous implies that you tell others how to live their lives based on your beliefs; thats exactly what you do mother fucker (you just candy coat with religious talk).
@Curtisloew88 Best show i ever saw in my life. and i am 43 was SRV at the old Ritz in the lower E. side of NYC -midnight show-New years eve, in '89.The ols Ritz was just a BIG bar-with a balcony you could walk up to-V.I.P section. Bar was to side of stage and -you could sit there and the stage was 25-30 ft. away or take a brew with ya(4.00) a Bud then, squeeze up to the stage and SRV's sweat was hittin ya -spit too.Saw him 3 times-- that was the shit though,His#1 was 5 feet from me at times!!
My former boss played drums in a band called "The Penthouse 5" and regularly played with Jimmy Vaughan. Jimmy would bring Stevie as a young kid and he was already killing the guitar.
God Bless God for Stevie Ray Vaughan
