  • After 2 years you might not care but, you forgot the h in dehydrating. Thanks for the info.

  • nice and simple... Thanks. I might just try this!

  • Chef????? You poured cheap, processed gunk into a dehydrator!

  • @whitbyjet65 ya and you are ans ass

  • Cool! Thank You.

  • Is that parchment paper your using under the sauce?

  • looks interesting and easy to do. thanks for posting.

  • Thanks for the vids, Do you need to blend the sauce once it's dry, How long dose it take to rehydrate? Think I will try this for my next hike!

  • A distributor called U-line sells poly tubing (8" x 1000') as you see in MREs. U-line also sells a simple heat sealer w/o vacuum. For some applications whether or not vacuum is not used, flushing the package with oil free nitrogen will displace O2. A company called Aline manufacturers high quality, expedition-grade, heat sealers, bag sealers, vacuum sealers, thermal impulse heat sealers, bundlers, shrink wrappers and heat sealing packaging, but you need an aircompressor and Oil Free N2.

  • Does alfredo sauce work?

  • No it doesn't, way to greasy ;)

  • @notreallydaedalus thats because they use real cheese to make it.

  • Pour it on what? Sheets of what? You don't preface your remarks at all. What equipment are you using?

  • @kc7fys The common Nesco/American Harvestor dehydrators are available at Walmart and other chain stores. The set usually has one or two 'fruit roll sheets' which is what these are. The stores will sell extra sheets.

  • I tried you idea with the trays and it works great. My question is:after the process is complete should the sauce be plyable or hard?

Good video, keep up the good work!!!

  • It should be hard(ish), it wont get like rock hard, but if you put it in a blender or food processor it should turn to powder easily. if not then it is probably to moist. the dryer it is the longer it will last (theoretically)

  • Great vid but would have been great to see the final product.

  • It is still hydrated at the end of the video. Your video might be named, "How to pour tomato sauce." Because it doesn't really demonstrate anything. Good job uploading, though. You did that right.

  • that is a good thought, but this works perfectly fine for me, so i will stay with what works.

  • Have You tried Parchment paper instead of plastic fruit leather sheets? The sauce peels off much easier. Just trace the outline of a plastic sheet on parchment paper, and cut it out.

    Thanks for the cool video!

  • Thanks. Just the video I was looking for!

I will have to test this out. Just the pizza sauce. No Alfredo Sauce!
