I am so happy that I stumbled across your channel, you are explaining the solar energy stuff in a way that I can understand. I'm learning a lot just from viewing your setup, thanks a million.
glad to see you know good beef like us aussies and you understand that vac packing is not only for the fridge.. nothing like opening the bag thats been in the freezer a year and have no burn or drying just as good as it would be after a month. you should try some dry aging and then freeze the steaks.. i have a good vid on how to do it. and my small solar setup for my workshop. have a look if your bored
There is a way to convert any 120 VAC chest freezer to a refrigerator, and they are very efficient albeit odd in comparison to what we come to know as normal. All it takes is a commercial refrigeration control from Ranco, or other. The install is easy and you place the normal control in series with the new one, set it to 38 degrees and that's it.
Depending on if a freezer has a back condenser or one that is enclosed just behind the sheet metal, you can add more "pink board" to gain insulation
I enjoyed the video, it was very informative and I also like the fact that you protect your home with that lock. Its okay to let people know you are well protected as you have a number of things that could make you a target for would be criminals. This video was excellent IMO and I'm glad to see one of my fellow solar guys letting the bad guys know they will not be targets, at any rate! ***** Thanks for sharing my friend, take care
kev why would you need the 5000 watt silver charger when you have the outback inverter charger
am i missing something please let me know
and i love the new challenge first vids for the grid tie inverters now the new challenge the rob your freezer challenge cant wait to see the video on that one
@Viking9280 Hey Ian. I have the charger because I am running two battery banks at differant voltages. I dont think there will be a rob the freezer video because I cant hold the rifle and the camera at the same time.
Great video, will see if we have something like this down here in Australia. The beef you have in USA is OK, some of the beef I had in Texas was not so bad. Unfortunately USA will not agree to a importing our beef, so we will just have to keep it all here.
So is that the freezer turning on at 5:06? No offense but it kinda sounds like crap. Sounds like a fan blade is hitting/rubbing something. Nonetheless, I love that this is available. I wonder how hard it would be to convert a normal freezer.
Thanks for the video. I've often wondered about 12/24v appliances. I'd like to convert everything I have into 12v. Inverters are power hogs. How much did that cost you? Does it use less amperage/power to run on DC, and do you have any estimates on the power savings?
@MegaAlfie007 Hey Al. Voltages are a big misonception one is not more eficient than the other. It is all about wire size. If the power grid did not step up voltages for transmition thie wire would be bigger around than the pole supporting it.

BTW your lock looks more like a hammer.

@MrHorsetail The freezer was expencive 1100$. It uses about a third of a regular chest freezer.

Cool freezer
your explanation on which batteries you can use and amp hours
What if you ran off 24 volt?
Would it last longer than 12 volt?
Is that a good idea?
I'd like to know

Lol, I like the second lock!
Pretty cool freezer, I had no Idea that it could run off of just one 110 amp hour battery.
