brilliant, especiall seeing the reverser whizz up and down to get the pistons moving and the train backing up a bit to start, and the beaming faces of the onlookers as they walked away, and the amusing woman waffling to someone whilst twiddling with her mobile phone, reality TV at its best mate.great, full marks.
Fascinating to watch the valve gear in action. The lady unnecessarily said sorry as she passed by near the end. That's all part of live action to me. Chris
Thanks Steve - people were not my problem - it was having to shoot into the sun and not being able to get a full side on shot - plus the safety valves lifting as she pulled away to spoil the sound. Chris
Brilliant, really enjoyed this. Made the ground shake, nice to see Mr Seymour doing his stuff. A really unique shot very well done.................................Matt
Absolutely brilliant piece of filming Chris, to get a side on shot and almost undisrupted departure with all those people around deserves a round of applause excellent work...5* Bob
Thanks Lou. The slip was soon under control and the safety valves lifting did tend to spoil the sound of the exhaust. I think I'm going a bit deaf with age so it didn't worry me at the time! Chris
Thanks Mike - I've explained in other replies why I was disappointed with my effort (it wasn't the people - I think they nearly always add a touch of life/reality to a shot). I was trying for something different from my usual shots. Chris
I've got to agree with everyone else - despite the amount of people around, that is still a great departure shot. I was lucky to be onboard this tour; the return run (an unbelievable one hour early) was incredible!
Ditto as above, great departure shot, Chris. And yes, it was an hour early. It got in to Man Vic at 25 mins past, instead of at 39 mins past, and "the powers that be" let it go early too. So I arrived 10 mins before it's scheduled time to find it had been and gone!!
Good one Chris and well done for getting some footage minus people. I saw her in and out of Victoria and was surprised how few people there were there (good for viewing though).
Life can be so frustrating when a new barrier appears on the opposite platform to spoil that shot and you have to film into the sun and too close up. People not a problem. Chris

Thanks Bob - a fair bit of editing I have to admit but I think people seldom spoil a shot. Chris

Thank you too (another) David. It's nice when the folk running the big railway are able to play ball like that. Shame you missed her though. Chris

Thank you David - you must have walked past me to get the first shot in your video - small world. Chris

I must have done - I would've said hello to you (albeit a quick one) if I'd known you would be there. Ah well! Thanks.

Nothing wrong with that Chris, busy station lots of people around, it's as it is.

Thanks Ralph - it wasn't the people but being forced to shoot into the sun and not being able to get back far enough. Chris

Lovely film of the departure, always difficult with a crowded platform end. Thanks for taking the time to make the film and post here. Brian

Thank you - it took some editing to get some clear footage. I left one chap in to provide some action while waiting for the off. Chris

There is nothing wrong with a record of the event. You just filmed life!
Well done!
