Does anyone know the name of the album that the Coconuts made in about 1986. i think it was something like The Coconuts live At The..........and the rest I have forgotten. I had the album several years ago and loved it, but somehow managed to lose it and would love to get it again. Please, if anyone can help I would be so grateful.
Kid Creole and the Coconuts were a class act then.... I know nothing lasts forever... but I would not go and see them now as they are not the originals and I have seen some of the posts of the new coconuts..... they are rubbish at backing vocals as well as the choreography!!! sorry!!
There's a lot of talk of comparisons between Morris Day and Kid Creole...what's the connection there...or were they both just similar acts? Maybe Prince saw Kid Creole and adapted the act for The Time???
Saw KC and CCN's a couple of times in Bristol UK in the 80's. The best show on earth. If I had a time machine that's where i would head for! Best wishes and much respect to all involved
Saw KC and CCN along with the B-52s at the Lakeland Civic Center in Florida in 1980; was 30 feet from the stage at the same level as the band; like W I D E screen TV only live; you could smell the perfume of the coconuts
Maybe the best band of the eighties. Saw them three times. Wow. The Glory that was Eden needs some exposure. Thank you to whomever made their first five lps in cd form. Kisses to Adriana.
Fantastic band.. Fantastic artist.. Fantastic songs. I have 3 favourites from the forgotten 80ties. One of them is Kid the King, & his crew (DONT TAKE MY COCONUTS!), another is Blues Brothers (LOOKING FOR A FOX), and the 3d... Well, I don't remember. But I'll let you know.
Dear Addy, can't wait to see it! I grew up with your awesome band and its immortal tunes. I hope the original members will re-unite someday for a world tour.
Thanks from the deep of my heart for the good time you gave to us in the past decades. Long live Your Music!
I haven't heard it yet - But I plan on completing the collection. My sis turned me onto the 'Wise Guy' LP back in the '80s - and I always bust it out to find grooves for my latin ska funk band: Mento Buru. I've been watching all the old vid clips from the live shows - just incredible! I can't wait to see the full documentary!
Cheryl Poirier, Janique Svedberg, Taryn Haegy where the originals, now the KId who is not such a kid anymore but still Rocks your socks off, has 3 new coconuts who are dancing in our shoes.
Adriana, the concept of the coconuts was truly unique back in the day - you ladies where amazing! I see strong Coconut influences in some of today's girl groups like the Sugababes for example, but for me The Coconuts (Adriana, Cheryl & Taryn) will always be the best!
I hope Adriana (author) - that you make something of this, as a catapult to other happenings in your life - be a good mentor please - and it sounds like your voice still has the chops for more good singing...life after Kid Creole? Andrew
The Kaegi-era Coconuts were supreme and make all other Cocos look like, well, pole dancers. Too bad the moderns do not think it is important to build upon the original ideas and moves. Wish No Intentions was avail, it rocked.
I fell in love with Adrian Keigel's choreography, expressions, singing, body and soul!! The Coconuts are just ELECTRIC !!!! Hope I can see high quality video of her, the Coconuts and Kid Creole
Interesting video, I spent most of the 80's overseas so I missed out on a lot of the stuff going on.
