I live in pittsburgh real close to where the pittsburgh group lived in prospect park. I walk around there sometimes and the whole area they live in is pretty much refugees and foreigners.

My English teacher is friends with one of the Lost Boys, one of the people who was allowed to come to America (if you have seen this film, he was the one talking about their Black Days). We watched this doc in class and then he came in and talked to us. It was a life-changing experience--so amazing, and really moving.
This movie changed my life. If you have not had the opportunity to watch it yet, I highly recommend it. These courageous men show us how often we take even the smallest things for granted. We all need to learn a deeper appreciation for life and a universal respect for each other.
Amazing movie about how America is the last great place on this planet, the land of opportunity and how America is the land of second chances, we have it great here and there has never been a place like this.
Bah, last great place. There are many Great, some I would consider even greater than America. To be honest with you, I would rather move to Britain, or France, or Germany, or Russia, or Sweden, or Switzerland etc. before I considered moving to the USA. All it has to offer is wealth, and quite frankly Im tired of civilizations driven by greed...
Dude, America is great and all, but it isn't the last great place on the planet, I mean Japan and Europe and America and Canada are the best places to live in the world. But I think parts of India, are pretty good too.
THERE ARE NO ARABS involved in the Sudanese conflict. Just because the Northerners are Muslims DOES NOT MEAN they are Arabs. They just like Somalians.
There are many people of Arab descent in Sudan, and many people who are not Arab but are Muslim because they have assimilated into Arab culture and have been Islamized.
The best documentary EVER!!!!! I love these guys. By far the most compelling story of overcoming insurmountable adversities. I will never complain about my life ever again. Do yourself a favor a watch this movie. OUTSTANDING
Wow I just watched this film and had a guest speaker who was also a lost boy from Sudan and it was very touching to hear his stories and struggles. He came to this country not having anything and now he is getting his master in Sociology. Truly a touching film, it made me cry
I have to say, I live in South Africa and I get very confused on why is Africa always seen like this. We have all the latest technology and infrastructure but when ever they show my country they show rural regions, I'm perplex by this.
i wonder the same things...Sibuh..they only show the rural areas...because that is where poverty is.....trust me, there are some places i didn't know existed in Kenya until i came to college in the USA and watched the discovery channel..lol. So glad i am back home
Who exactly are you yelling at then and why is it funny? The point is to raise awareness about it so we can stop it. The American people are making a "good picture" to prevent their government from continuing to support violence. If that isn't a noble purpose I don't know what is. Nothing's going to change if people like you just keep trying to blame others when they could be doing something productive to actually try and stop the problem.
the documentary looks like it could be good but the trailer nearly made me throw up! Very cheesy and makes out like it is dream come true to live in america!
Actually the film itself definitely doesn't have the tone of the trailer. Its a balanced reflection on the differences in cultures, and the challenges faced by these guys who've seen and experienced so much, and had to leave everything. Not a 'haha africans. USA YAAY! now-we-cry-and-hug' film as made out here. It is good though.
It's true that this trailer paints a much happier picture than the actual documentary. And while it may be a dream to live in America, if you watch the movie, lightman215, maybe you'll see that it's not necessarily a "dream come true." Their lives in America are incredibly difficult and not anything like what they expected.
We just saw this movie and LOVED it!! It was Fantastic. Not only is it very entertaining as we laughed and cried hard, but also helps to change the way you see "our" world.
