lol maybe i'm just weird but that one would be the one i'd want to buy. the cheeky ones/one's with "issues" are always more rewarding to work with than a totally bomb proof horse in my opinion.
Okay welll first of all NEVER yank on a horse for rearing. When he pulled on the chain when he was up in the air, it made the horse even more nevous. And the whole cracking an egg or a milk carton over his head is a stupid Idea.
If you crack a egg or mild carton over a horses head that rears, it should cure a canter. This may sound mean, but if you do that the horse will think his head is bleading and he will be afraid to rear and respect you. They will think every time they rear they will hit there head and bleed to death. This is a old method. It's better then forcing a horse to stop rearing like putting a chain in there mouth or popping them in the mouth or putting a shank on there nose
@horse11lover I've never tried this method but I've heard of it everywhere. I don't know if its necessarily the best way to cure it, but if it works, it works. I use the whole push them forward method, usually rearing is done to get out of working and to get away from pressure.
It looks like that horse has a chain on, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything! If that guy is handling a youngster like that, then he needs to wear a hard hat for starters! The thing that annoys me is about all these "gadgets" is that as SOON as they have a problem with their horse they tie his head down or strap his mouth shut or yank on their face with a chain, although I agree that in extreme circumstances chains can be useful but only by VERY experienced handlers!
I also agree with the others. I agree even more with mustangcanyon. Lunging wouldve been waaay better than taking a high strung youngster out there. I feel sorry for the poor thing, almost falling over. Couldve left some big damage. my dad owns a stable of racers, i should know.
this was really dangerous for both the horse and the owner/leader. he should of taken the horse away so it would stop, it was probably sick of everything going on. the man wasnt wear a helmet and could of been struck in the head - almost did most of the time. and the poor horse. :(
i'm sorry but when a horse is acting like that you have no other choice but to get after them and it doesn't have to be in a harsh way just let them know whose boss. horses can't get away with behavior like that b/c it's so dangerous, the guy wasn't wearing a helmet and the horse could have struck him in the head
they're animals, they do things like this, no matter how much exposure they've had, horses still do things that are of instinct to them, I hate when people "get after" horses for things that are common sense, i.e the loud noises, cars going by in the back, other horses walking all around, this horse probably wasnt used to it
I totally agree with!! Although I agree with discipline, I completely agree with you about people "getting after em" or "showing em who's boss" is doesn't work like that!! You have to get their respect!
this horse would've gotten gelded LONG before the sell! im sorry but i dont take that crap from any horse. the handler could've gotten hurt the horse could've gotten hurt other people in the ring could've gotten hurt...i would've had a chain on that horse so fast he wouldnt know what hit him
by look of it these are young race horses at a sale.... i work at a breaking in stable with race horses and its just a cheeky baby thing they do.... we have horses do this everyday at work, its neither the horse or the handlers fault.. just babies been playful, great job holdin on!! :)
haha looks like theres a stud chain on him. if so that could bother him...also, almost every horse i've had had rearing issues and i've had to get them out of it...trust me..hittin ur horse makes them do it worse cause they try to escape you worse then...but i prefer a bucking horse ANY day over a rearing one
he doesnt need to be taught a lesson. He's clearly upset about something. He was handled very well for the situation he was in and the way he behaved. His handler kept calm, and re-enforced it lovely :]
Anyone who has any knowledge and passion for horses would understand that the horse is obviously not happy with the situation that he is in -hence his rearing and unsettled behaviour! He does NOT require a smack on the nose nor teaching a lesson!!!! As proven over many years violence and showing the horse who is boss by scaring the spirit out of him DOESNT work!! Get a grip all ignorant, set in your ways so - called "horsey" people out there
That is horrofying , my horse rears on command and that one looks apsoultley skinny , also advertising STAPLES in the back XD , all around i give it 3/5
thats a yearling and yearlings dont know any better...but its still retarded to teach a horse to rear. Someone who teaches their horse to rear deserves to be injured or have their horse taken away its pure stupidity.
No there stupid...my friends horse reared and crushed her pelvis and her arm because some retard spooked him at the start of her dressage test and she was lucky to be able to walk again. You know nothing about training horses abviously! Some people just should not be allowed to own a horse let alone ride one!
What a beautiful horse :) the reason he could be rearing, you ignorant people who are saying hes dangorus or probley got problems is hes more than likely scared and ina unformiler(spelling?) enviroment with lots of noise and excitement please stop blaming the horse or the owners if you were in this situation you wouldnot appreciate it.
The guy in the vid did a great job controlling this horse and didnot let go so well done to him.
People, stop posting ignorant comments about how this horse needs better training, or that they shouldn't be out in public with these manners, etc. I'm guessing their yearling TBs being sold as racehorses. It doesn't matter if a racehorse has perfect manners or not. If the horse is fast, a jockey/trainer will deal with whatever attitude the horse has. Racehorse breeders/dealers don't have time to spend perfectin their horses' manners when it's obviously not that big of a deal.
It's possibly she's being "disobedient", it's also possible that she's in a rural area (Notice "Staples" in the background) and there's alot going on. For the one or two people that MIGHT know this horse are really the only ones whom have the right to say whether or not she was acting different than usual, or whether or not she was being herself. As is, she's in training. It's normal for a yearling to act in such a manner, even more so when other horses are around.
Don't scare him when he rears at you, but don't let him get away with it either. Your a strong guy, pull him down and slap his neck. Let me know how he goes. Also, the cars and people and other horses may be adding to his truama, you may want to wait before you stick a young colt in that situation.
that behaviour is expected. they're young and nervous, listen to the noise and all the ppl... they need to be settled rather than punished. it's only natural for them.
Wow, your friend is pretty good with horses, and I don't mean that in any mean way. I like the way he corrected him but not too hard, shows he really understands youngsters. Poor little bugger, probably a bit freaked out to be at a sale. Your mate there did a really good job to keep him moving, kudos.
i am totally against cruelty but that horse needs a good crack there is no excuse for that behavior and the longer he gets away with it the harder it will be to stop

he doesnt know crap bout horses horseroxy. i think YOU know crap bout them! he was either being warmed up for a show or already in a show so he couldnt have a break!
there were cars going past it was prob freaked. if you don't know why your horse is rearing don't tell it off like the man did. it looked like it was freaked and telliong it off only made it worse
i would've kicked that horses butt if he pulled that shit with me..my guess is this horse wasnt handled alot and/or the owner never botherd to teach it mannors
Looks like a young horse- I see them acting up all the time in the 2 and 3 year old halter classes at the shows. It's not uncommon to see them get so excited from all the action that they just explode. Like someone else said, this looks like horses getting ready to go for auction.
wow, dat sounds bad. My horse holly dose dat, normal wen im riding but sometimes wen im leading her. Once i turned round to speak to a friend she reared at me n knocked my hat off. I got such a scare I almost screamed but I didnt wanna scare holly off. ur brave 2 lead a horse like dat!
Anytime I see a horse rearing, it gives me a good fright. I have no clue why I clicked on this video, if I'm so scared of rearing. :] I think the story behind my fear is a horse at my barn. Dexter started rearing in his stall, and then fell back. His owner suddenly regretted not putting him out with the other horses OUT OF SHEER LAZYNESS. And he wouldn't let us put him out either.
i am terrified of tying my horse up well not just tying up like if the rope gets caught because he will pull back and has broke a lead rope before. one day a mare named Hadre did that and she fell back on her back and rolled back up. scared me so bad.
Yeah, she has a boyfriend. Dad was fine, jumped back real quick, and Baylee had about the size of a penny skinned up on each of her hocks with minor bleeding. She was fine, and still a little crazy.
my horse does that every stinken time hes high.. its so annoying.. we'll be walking along and then BAM! he'll buck and then continue walking and then if we stop and stand for a few minutes he starts to rear up HUGE and strike out.. and then he'll try to eat my jacket... lol.
p.s. the guy in the video was getting so pissed at the end haha
me horse done that to me first time in 3 year because she was going into the new summer field then heared me screaming at her and stop and walked normal then lol
Gaslight Parade falshback. My mare spooked at my dad coming up and petting her without talking as he approached her, and she pulled back, and reared up. She fell back, and skinned up her hocks, not too bad though. Then she was the only horse (other than her boyfriend, John) that didn't freak out at the skateboarders, train, bridge, noises, etc. Weird mare. That's when you turn the horse lose when they start to rear in your face.
wow. my horse used to do that when i first bought her, but with a little tender loving care, she's a real sweetheart now. she would never do anything to hurt me. sometimes all it takes is hard work and patience right?
i think the guy handle it well :)
