I also think it's fine just to brush the Rev limiter before changing up as then you know you'll definatly have VTEC in the next gear. If not a double clutch would do.
my 93 civic vx hatchie is faster with only a cold air intake added... what model was that civic? ure second gear only hangs to 60mph... my vx goes to 67mph.. :D

@builtrex exactly, well said, the SOHC vtec change over is not as distinct as the DOHC change simply because its only one cam changing over to a more aggressive lobe in the intake side only. The DOHC however, has a separate cam for both intake and exhaust, hence why the change over from them is more noticeable. i have a SOHC vtec, but i must admit, i cant hear the change over on this vid for this car, but we have to take into account the mic quality, and the fact it dont claim its a vtec in vid

I've got a D16y7 (ej6 coupe) and doing 0/60 in about 7,5/8 secs.... It does have 143bhp instead of the 105 originally but for an sohc non-vtec it's pretty fast :-) I'll post a vid asap!

i dont think it has vtec cuz when vtec kicks in, you could here it and feel it even if you have loud exhaust. also the rpm needle goes faster once you hit vtec but to me it looks like the same thing. i could be wrong
I have a D15z6 in my Si hatch and its kinda hard to hear it and kinda impossible to feel it over a video, but if you are in the car without a loud exhaust you can hear vtec kick in. It's kinda of a different tone. As for feeling vtec kick in, I can only feel it from 1st-3rd gear, but its very minimal as the gear goes up.
@pogox if you were gonna go for a 1.6L honda engine why didnt you go with the jdm b16a? such an amazing engine. mine can withstand up to 15 psi from a stock mitsubishi 4g63 turbo.
