Your angery I don't know why, bose ARE better, there is NO distortion so your can get the sound up louder from a smaller speaker and they are sooo crisp
@myrobotnameiszach What brands of audio equipment have you hear other than Bose? How do you know Bose is the only audio company that makes speakers that have no distortion; even small ones?
@myrobotnameiszach dude... ever heard of scan-speak, vifa, visaton, paradigm, REL, monacor or seas? these companies make WAY better speakers than bose does, and as you see in this video: you can get cheaper equipment than bose witch is way better shan bose!
Imagine if bose would make bigger speakers like dose , it would be unfortable!!! No one can beat bose! Paradigm are style speakers and no sound quality for their price!! "people that talk bad aboute bose, its because they caint afford"
@thatMEX11 Bose used to make the 701's, which were tower speakers.
How do you know Paradigm is just style and doesn't have good quality for the price? Have you ever heard Paradigm? Heck, what other brands have you heard other than Bose?
Also if I talk bad about Bose because I can't afford it, then why am I showing a system that costs THE SAME as Bose? And why did I make a video called "RE: "Bose Speakers Are the Best! Haters Just Can't Afford Them!" (Pts.1 and 2)", which I suggest you watch.
@thatMEX11 " "people that talk bad aboute bose, its because they caint afford""
It's stupid shit like this that motivates people to go out of their way to hate on Bose. If Bose wants to sell overpriced garbage made of cheap materials with triangular (peaky) FR curves to morons who don't see they're just keeping Bose's marketing dept employed, let 'em, we don't care. When these morons come around praising their "benefits" it's such an insult we just swing away.
@MrMarinlaw Yeah I can't believe my video has (as of now) 123,000 views, which makes it one of the most viewed Bose-related videos on all of YouTube! Not to mention it's also been able to maintain more likes than dislikes :)
@MrMarinlaw Oh yes I still have my Anthem MRX300. It's awesome. It proves that not all watts are created equal, as it's rated at 80 watts/channel with 2 channels driven, and 60 watts/channel with 5 channels driven, yet it can get vastly louder than all the Sony/Yamaha/Denon/etc. receivers that are rated at "100" watts/channel.
I also got a Paradigm Monitor Series 7 Center 1 to replace my Cinema 110 C center, which is a big improvement. And now I'm using my Cinema 110 C as a rear surround.
Not to offend Paradigm subs, but I prefer HSU,SVS, EPIK subs any day. I used to own a HSU VTF-3 MKIII for the money its good all around sub that can play low and high bass with good enough output for the money. These ID companies have really good reputation for making good quality subs for the money. Just wish they have stores all around where we can locally visit. = (
Probably one of the reasons why you can hear voices on those acoustimas bass module its probably due to the smaller driver sizes Bose uses. Mostly drivers that size can still produce maybe 5000hz or higher probably limited to less than 10khz. Most Bose showrooms are design to catch the consumers ears due to the finely tuned sound, but take it home its a entirely different story.
@falkenlaser Hey, your videos are awesome! I just have one quick question for you regarding your personal setup, why did you end up going with the PDR-10 sub (not saying that its bad)? You can get much better subs for the price from id (internet direct) companies such as HSU, Epik, SVS, CHT etc. Did you consider purchasing from one of these companies?
@GoldPlatedCheese Well I got the PDR-10 for Christmas. But sorry I don't really like ID companies. First of all, you can't hear their gear before you buy, which is a must for me. Not only that, but with an ID company, if you have a problem with your gear, you have no choice but to deal with someone on the phone, and if it needs to be fixed, you have to send it away, even if it's a fix that could have easily been done by a dealer in one day if you would have bought from a storefront dealer.
FYI the accoustimass modules throw sound and the reason for being able to hear voices is because other systems use a big ass subwoofer, and the BOSE accoustimass module I have has a 6" driver, so for it's size it sounds good to me.
@flightmaster178 The Acoustimass module has 2 5.25 inch drivers; not one 6".
The reason you have to hear voices out of the Acoustimass module is because the Bose cubes are too small to reproduce a lot of voices, so they have to basically put the mid-bass driver (which would normally be built into the speakers) in the place of a subwoofer. This is, however, a bad design, as all sound recordings intend all sound above about 100 Hz to come from the speakers; not away from them.
@flightmaster178 Plus, mid-bass is supposed to be a stereo sound (2 speakers on the left and right), but the Acoustimass module reduces it into a mono sound (1 speaker).
Check out the Paradigm MilleniaOnes. They're 8" tall, but unlike the Bose cubes, they can play mid-range and mid-bass pretty well, so they don't need a separate bass module. But, it'd still be a good idea to get a sub like the Paradigm SUB8, which is actually even smaller than the Acoustimass module, yet has a lot more power.
@flightmaster178 Also I should have noted a subwoofer is only supposed to play frequencies below about 100 Hz, which are frequencies you "feel" more than hear (an example would be explosions in movies). These frequencies are also non-directional, meaning just about no matter where you put a sub in a room, you won't be able to tell where it is.
The Acoustimass module, however, because it plays frequencies above 100 Hz, and can't play sub bass low enough, it can't be considered a real subwoofer.
How do you guys think about the Bose 901's. The older ones in my opinion sound pretty decent to me, but that's the only Bose product that I've ever kept.
@DirtBikingFag I've never heard them, but I'd say simply because they are so incredibly different, I could see how someone would like those just for how they "represent" the sound.
They would, however, be horrific for a surround system, for they already create a surround effect themselves. In fact, Bose hardly even makes them anymore. According to the salesman at the Bose store I went to last August, they are special order only.
@falkenlaser Why would I want a sub that powerful like you said ill sound like an earthquake shake your house and make rattle thats not clarity sound thats rattle. Your like my teen friends in where they put huge woofers in thr trunks (cars) and all you hear is rattle close and from a mile away but what about the voice? I prefer a bit/ A lot of everything
@cr91fan Actually for music the Fathoms blend in with it flawlessly. Just about the only time you'd notice one is if it was abruptly turned off. They only use their full power when it's needed, which is usually for sound effects in movies or really low bass from rap/hip-hop music; sounds that a recording intends for you to "feel".
BTW, you shouldn't hear voice out of a sub or any type of bass module that's off to the side. Voice is meant to come from the same place the highs and mids come from.
@TheUncleCheese Ive never heard them before so I wouldnt be able to say I imagine they are bigger and louder and better but Bose doesnt stay to far behind. Like I said they are probaly better since they are bigger and other diffrences that make it better but no i have not heard them
@cr91fan Yeah they are a bit bigger. My buddy Steve got a great deal on them from a dude in a white van parked just outside of a Best Buy. In terms of audio and build quality they're not as good as Bose, but very close.
@falkenlaser i realize now after seeing all the other comments that BOSE actually isn't that good I'm not like a professional music recorder or anything, i just picked these up they're good if you don't have any good speakers or headphones lying around anywhere though, and they give out a pretty good sound for they're size
@cr91fan If Bose is just for music, then why are their most expensive systems surround sound systems? And how is this like comparing a Ferrari to a Mustang?
@falkenlaser B&W, Atlantic technonology, Harmon Kardon, logitech, crystal acoustics and Yamaha outodoors. and I still Like Bose not that its better, ha but definetly not the worst. So see its all opinion.
@cr91fan Okay I see. Yes sound quality is based on opinion. But then you were saying Bose is "the best", and were saying how all these prestigious companies and places use Bose, so therefore it must be the best. Plus you kept saying human's can't perceive sound quality that would exceed Bose's. So it seemed as if you were saying it wasn't based on opinion, and that Bose is the best.
@cr91fan Oh and BTW, I'd like you to hear a surround system with a JL Audio f113 Fathom subwoofer (13 inches and 2500 watts), which is considered to be one of the best home subwoofers on the entire market. Now that is a speaker you WOULD notice, as it can create an all-out earthquake. You wouldn't hear it; you'd FEEL it, and you would shit bricks. Better yet, try the Paradigm SUB2, which has 6 10 inch drivers in one enclosure, and 4500 watts.
@cr91fan Not so stupid that we don't know how to spell the word surround, hahahahahaha. What a tool, enjoy your terrible audio while educated motherfuckers enjoy real high fidelity. Bose is for marketing suckers, just like Monster Cable products although at least the latter make products that are actually good, but like Bose similarly over-priced. How do you think they pay for those ads? You look at it backwards, the ads pay for themselves because that's how marketing works. Back2school
@dobyblue yeah I doubt that your speakers sound as loud and as clear as a cinemas. Like I said it is impossible to tell the sound apart so quit acting like your a damn computer who can pick up every sound cause you cant and you know it so you are the idiot.YOU CANT. Same thing with a Led and OLed tv you wont tell much the diffrence our eyes cant catch it. what you think you are a computer hahahahahahaha
@cr91fan They don't need to be as loud you idiot, given that my room is 1/100th the size as a larger cinema. Are you really that thick? I don't think you've seen OLED, because the one I just saw at CES 2012 in Vegas 5 days ago won best in show from everyone that saw it and it was the single most stunning picture ever seen. Plasma is better than LED, and OLED blew away even the best plasma. It is a different ball game. Ignorance is bliss. Are you just trolling? Stitching everyone up?
@cr91fan You mean an electronic store where managers tell the staff what they have to push? Oh right, that's an unbiased source. So ask young kids in electronic stores who believe what they're told from company reps which is best, lol, you really are a blithering idiot. No thanks, I'll actually look at the ANSI measurements and MLL measurements, colour accuracy, to know which set performs better. Which technology did cNet rate as the best several years running? Plasma. Now OLED. Pwned.
@dobyblue They carry plasmas and led right electronic stores why wouldnt they want to sale you the best and most expensive wich the best is a plasama according to you. Why the fuck would they try and sale an led tv to everyone and not a plasma. what came out first a plasma then led 3d led now oled it keeps improving right? led is in front of your plasma as you can see. hahahaha who owns a plasma now a days so old move on douche haha.Sony speakers i was saying they are garbage idiot not good. wtf
@cr91fan No dummy, LCD technology has been out since 1960's - for LED they just use a different backlight (LED instead of CCFL, they're both LCD TV's) but it's still a Liquid Crystal Display. 3D doesn't change the panel at all, only allows you to display one 1080p frame (Left) followed by 1080p (right) and have the shutter glasses synch up. RE:Sony, hard to understand what you're saying, your punctuation and grammar is atrocious.
@cr91fan Rule of business - push the sets that have the biggest margin, not those that are the best, d'uh. You really that thick? Best $:performance is plasma, plain and simple. And LCD's have been out since the 60's, so who really needs to move on if that's your brilliant assesment of what makes a TV good. Hasn't Bose been out since the 60's too? How about applying your brilliant logic to your crappy Bose system?
@cr91fan Thank you for continuing to show how completely and utterly your ignorance of sound is. I never said anything about the cinema's speakers being clear, what I talked about was the source material. dts and Dolby in the cinema are both lossy, if you understand .mp3 encoding you might be able to follow the conversation. Blu-ray for the home in 90%+ of cases uses lossless high resolution encodes that you can't find in the cinema. Source, not speakers, is the problem. F- for you.
@dobyblue your naming all these numbers dude you cant tell apart so stfu unless you for some sony speakers then okay yeah you can but stfu. Sound quality will never ever improve its at its best. Even if it does we wont tell it apart much so whats the big deal
@dobyblue how about you suck my dick because everything is an opinion and how about you stfu already because you think im wrong and I think your wrong. Ima be the bigger person. Loser get a life. Im getting mine im in college ucla to be exact. So stfu your annoying as fuck. You act like you know everything.
@cr91fan Actually I'm talking about units that are scientifically measurable, not opinions. So you're wrong again. Cute private message by the way, seems you're a homophobe as well. The only reason I'm annoying to you is because I keep pointing out how inconsistent and ridiculous your assertions are, like plasma is old so we should move on, yet Bose is from 1964 and you think they're great because they're still around in 2012. Clearly you're at a disadvantage here RE:knowledge.
@cr91fan And I'd like to state that I have owned numerous BOSE products and I always had to return them because of the poor performance, with the exception of the BOSE 901's. Those I've kept for a long time, and still have.
i think cr91fan needs to listen to other speakers like sonus faber for real audio reproduction or mk sound for hometheater audio reproduction by the way the guys from lucas films that make star wars use this... bose hahaha what a joke
@cr91fan. I have a Bose system in my Mazda and I had a Bose Lifestyle for about two weeks. They're complete shit and a waste of money. You've obviously never heard a proper home theatre set-up with big boy speakers and two thumping subs that rip the paint off your walls and destroy the foundation of your home, because if you had, you would never be talking about how good Bose is. Anyone looking for a small speaker system then check out the Paradigm Millenia LP's with a 1-3/4" profile.
@TheUncleCheese Your pieces of shit are un heard of. Bose and its ads right thats what you are going to say well how do you think they pay for those ads why do people buy it then
Bose. Usually makes me shudder. Pro gear isn't great, home gear is rubbish. Only redeeming factor for the bigger bose ipod dock speaker thing is that it cranks for its size.
@cr91fan So you base your audio brand preference based on what some "prestigious" entities use? Sounds like you're just buying for the "name" more than you are the sound (a reason why some people think Bose is the best).
And BTW Mercedes uses Harmon/Kardon, and the AMG models have Bang & Olufsen. Porsche has a Burmester, a really expensive audio company, as a high-end audio upgrade. And is NASA using their speakers to critically listen to music and watch movies with high-end theater sound? No.
@falkenlaser Do you know what a maybach is? a ferrari? or a mazarati? They only put the best of the best in maybachs ferraris or mazaratis. Millonaire cars. Why do they have Bose then if its not the best. Bose is dolby digital approved now. Inventors of sorround sound what more do you want from that? so yeah they are the best and or one of the best
@cr91fan Bentley has Naim, Rolls-Royce has Lexicon, and Aston Martin has Bang and Olufsen. Those are also millionaire cars. If Bose is the best, then why don't they have it? (BTW Ferrari and Maserati are the same company). But still, you let others decide what you think the best of something is? Again, you've proved my point that one of the reasons Bose sells is because people buy it for the name and the quality is only perceived.
@falkenlaser Not every company is going to have Bose okay so calm down atleast they have it in some top cars so dont say Bose isnt good. Let them be the same company they are still million dollar cars. How is that people deciding for me? I have been in a Bmw 7 series they have bowers and wilkins which are also good but i prefer Bose. Catholic is the most powerful religion with the most money the sixthteenth chapel guess what it has? Bose. Football club Real Madrid is the richest sports team
@falkenlaser next to the new york yankees and guess what Real Madrid has in the stadium in which they play with? Bose. Btw you like Yamaha right you show it in your video? well go to costco they teamed up with bose in the newest sorround sound. oh hey do and of these other speaker brands you talk about have a tv that produces sorround sound with out all the speakers?Bose does. Ive heard it its amazing
@cr91fan I will say the Bose PA speakers I've heard aren't bad, but then PA speakers aren't meant to play perfect sound quality; they're meant to get loud. Yeah I saw Bose's/Yamaha's thing (except I prefer Anthem A/V receivers, but pairing these speakers with one of those would make this system cost more than any Bose system). Yes I heard the Bose TV. It's okay, but $5,500 is absolutely ridiculous. You could get a 46" TV plus pay someone to install an in-wall surround system for that cost.
@falkenlaser yeah well you pay for what you get Bose makes amazing products i own a ipod dock sorround sound system and headphones. Even the headphones they make are great the noice cancelling is amazing great for any type of music. Some airline companys carry Bose. Bose is in the top with other companys no doubt about that. well at least agree with me that Beats by dre arent good headphones or speakers?
@cr91fan It's more like Bose runs kiosks at airports; airlines themselves don't sell Bose.
You mentioned that your BMW 7-Series has Bowers and Wilkins. That is a mistake; the only car company that has B&W is Jaguar. So what you're hearing in your BMW isn't B&W. Heck, what audio brands have you heard other than Bose? (As in surround sound systems).
I haven't heard Beats, but I know they, along with Monster Cable (the company that owns Beats), are all often in the same sentence as Bose.
@falkenlaser Only thing your speakers make good in is sorround sound thats it? exactly why I say Bose is better they make I pod docks, Headphones, sorround sound, Marine speakers, T.V, Outdoor speakers which Ive seen outside of really fancy shopping centers like Raleys, Macys, Nordstrom. What more can you ask from Bose? I have heard B&W at a store. Anything that is popular or has ads is for a reason. They get that money from some where to put up ads which is from people buying products.
@cr91fan Paradigm also makes outdoor speakers, too, and they just came out with computer speakers, earphones, and soon their have active noise canceling headphones (like Bose has) and gaming headsets. However, most of Paradigm's stuff is super high-end audio equipment. The speakers I show in this video are Paradigm's budget line. They have 3 more lines of speakers that if you built a system with would end costing vastly more than any Bose surround system; as high as $50,000.
@cr91fan Do you want to compare Bose to a $50K Paradigm (with Anthem amps) system?
You keep saying Bose is good on the basis that they're used by prestigious entities. And that's one reason why they sell. Bose is a status symbol just like Rolex, Lois Vutton, etc. People are buying them for the "name" because it's recognized as being expensive.
Yeah one of the reasons Bose is so popular is because they advertise more than any other audio company. If they didn't, they wouldn't be near as popular.
@falkenlaser It cant get any better then Bose okay. Look I have a blu ray player and a samsung led all hooked up with monster hdmi cables I highly doubt it that they can make any more Tv's that have a better picture quality its impossible they can but the human I can see it. They have made a better Led wich is Oled tv but the human eye cant tell much of a diff. Same with speakers they cant get any better B&W, Bose, Harmon etc. Get real they just cant sound any clearer.
@cr91fan BTW, before I went to critically listen to the Bose LS48, I listened to a $3000 or so Paradigm Cinema system, plus I had my family's Wharfedale system and my Paradigm Atom Monitors as a reference point.
I expected the LS48 to be at least somewhat good. I was even open to the fact I might be proven wrong. But when I heard it, it was worse than I thought it would be. I actually asked the salesman if there was something wrong with it.
So from my experience, you can get better than Bose.
@cr91fan actually it can get much better..but it depends on the area and how much can you hear...but for what it is bose is over priced. If you are looking for a small footprint like bose with more future proofing than bose ever could. Compare B&W, Focal, Dali and not only do they sound better, they are cheaper with more capabilities. Study up and you will see there is alot out there. Same with monster cable. Audioquest and others can out perform monster in second.
@cr91fan Yeah one's ears can't tell much apart. Especially when one hasn't even heard many sound systems and just assumes Bose is the best like you have.
@cr91fan LED has poor off axis viewing and screen uniformity, Samsung's plasma TV's ALWAYS score higher than their LED sets which is why they put the D8000 plasma series into the 2011 HDTV shootout in Scarsdale, NY and not their LED set. If you think the human eye can't discern the difference between OLED and LED then you're smoking crack. OLED has 180 degree viewing angle and perfect blacks, perfect motion resolution with no motion estimation/motion compensation circuitry that LED need
@dobyblue you act like if that much of a diffrence, and trolling what the fuck i dont even know what that means so I guess not your prob one since you know what it is. you probaly always on the internet and shit and looking up d8000 d8000 that stfu bitch dont exagrate. Oh look I like my pizza cooked in a wolf/ viking stoves that cooks at 350 you cant even tell the diffrence if its cooked on something like that as long a it gives you what you want and you know its ONE of the best so stfu
@cr91fan You can go to Samsung's website to verify that is the model number of their top of the line plasma. It placed 2nd in 2010 behind the Panasonic VT-series plasma in the shootout. You trust the young kids in electronics stores, I'll trust the experts who went to school and are THX-certified and ISF-certified. Plasma beats LED. OLED beats all.
@cr91fan Pioneer stopped making plasma TV's in 2009, they were the best sets you could buy and still in 2012 they have not been bested. Hope this helps illustrate the futility of the line of thought you were just perusing.
@67mustangshelbygt I said "sets" not "set" - several models have still yet to be equalled for 2D performance. Even the 5020 still outperforms all the other sets for MLL and ANSI.
@cr91fan Oh and I should have mentioned the Yamaha receiver in that Costco thing is a cheap model. This dealer doesn't even sell it.
The point is, if you consider the cost of the materials to make a Bose system compared to other systems that cost the same, as it is shown in this video, Bose's systems have an absolutely HUGE markup. I bet the Lifestyle 48 cost less than $800 to manufacture. So you're paying $4000 for something that probably cost less than $800 to make.
@cr91fan The Bose Lifestyle V35 is $3,300. The Lifestyle 48, which has an integrated DVD player and a music server, was $4000. And the reason it's overpriced is if you consider how the Lifestyle 48 (and all of Bose's Lifestyle systems) are made, and you compare that to what you can get for that same price from other audio companies, you can conclude Bose is making a HUGE profit off the Lifestyle systems. I bet the Lifestyle V35 costs at the most $800 to make, and I imagine it's less than that.
@cr91fan I havent listen to diff sound systems?? haha aftre this you wont say anything. Who hasnt gone to the movie theathres? haha I know I have, some THX approved. They have the best sytems right? better then yours or mine and of course it sounds louder then my bose and yours. But the clarity doesent sound to diffrent so dont exagerate.
@cr91fan No they don't - in fact cinemas use lossy audio tracks. dts audio on DVD (when using 1.509 Mbps) is better than dts in the cinema, on Blu-ray you have lossless audio tracks. The opportunity for audio fidelity in the home is better than the cinema. Clearly you have a lot to learn.
@cr91fan Actually movie theaters use PA speakers, which are meant to get loud and not sound good, whilst [good] home speakers are meant for sound quality. So, a good home theater system will kill the sound quality of a movie theater. In fact I saw Transformers 3 in theaters 5 times, so I know what it sounded like at the theater. But once I got it playing on my system, it sounds 10x better. Same thing with every movie I've seen in theaters and played on my system; my system simply sounds better.
@cr91fan Also, every surround system in existence, even $100 Walmart ones, have Dolby Digital. It's what's needed for surround sound to even work. Saying Bose is the best because it has DD is like saying a Kia is the best because it has a steering wheel.
What more do I want? How bout the fact Bose's systems lack DTS-HD, which nearly 2,600 of the near 3,850 Blu-Rays in existence are coded in? How about Bose's systems not having 7.1 surround sound, which A/V receivers as little as $200 have?
But Bose give great sound and they are tiny! These speaker are all the size of bricks... sorry dude don't have space to fit speakers in my living room that are the same size as my tv...
@DisneyResortFilms Watch my video "Paradigm Speakers MilleniaOne and MilleniaSub." The speakers in that are small (about 8 inches) but use parts from Paradigm's speakers that would normally cost more than any Bose system.
Get 5 MilleniaOnes, a Paradigm SUB8 sub, a Yamaha RX-A810 A/V receiver, and a URC remote, and you'd be close to the price of the Bose Lifestyle V35. Not only would you be getting small speakers; you'd be getting the sound of speakers that'd normally cost more than Bose.
my vintage sony speakersmhave paper drivers but they sound 50x better than the bose does. that sad. my 30 year old speaker is still better and i only paid $5.00 for them used.
@raymondleeleggs My Dad's DCM Timewindows, which are about 30 years old, use paper drivers, and they sound awesome, too (and blow away Bose).
The main problem with Bose's paper drivers is that Bose uses them for high-frequency drivers, which no kind of paper is good for. Other audio companies that use paper drivers only use them for mid-range and mid-bass drivers, while they use materials like silk or metal for high-frequency drivers.
@grizzlyrider2 Actually unless it's a center speaker or a speaker that's specifically made to be used as a surround speaker, speakers are usually sold in pairs. At least that's how Paradigm sells them.
bose seem over priced because idk if anyone has relized but you CANT blow out bose speakers unless you hook up an amp to it and fuck it all up bose has very good quality and last alot longer i mean sure some speakers bass is louder than bose but they dont sound nearly as great as bose
@LovellDavid What other brands of speakers have you heard? And BTW most speakers if taken care of can last a long time. My dad's 30 year old DCM Timewindows and Setton amp still kick ass to this day.
@LovellDavid bose speakers are like a mac computer. There overpriced because they can be because people are going to buy them anyway, but that doesnt mean there actually worth what your paying for.
hello falknlaser one doubt in winter and rainy season wood speakers body some white powders are appearing is this any problem giving sound or else wood will be damage kindly reply
@jakethesnake11 Anthem (a company owned by Paradigm that makes electronics) blows away anything Onkyo makes (but then most of Anthem's stuff is vastly more expensive), and I'd say Klipsch's RF lines of speakers are somewhat comparable to Paradigm's Monitor line (Klipsch speaker's sound is too bright for me, though), but Klipsch's Synergy line (the crap sold at Best Buy) doesn't come close to Paradigm.
Agree that BOSE is extremely overpriced for the tech, but some of their systems are pretty slick in terms of form factor and a more of a lifestyle choice in many homes (kind of like Apple products). You can source much more sophisticated and better sounding systems from other vendors if you're interested.
In particular the cases, drivers, and other parts are VERY low quality compared to other options.
@droliver Very true. The nearest Bose dealer to me sells Bose's Lifestyle systems based on the fact they come in one box, are easy to set up, easy to use, and take up very little space. But, they will tell you that you can get much better sound quality for the same money or less.
However, 90% of the time, I hear people buying or wanting to buy Bose's Lifestyle systems because they think they're getting the best sound quality for the money, and consider the small size an afterthought.
The thing is bose has a great sound and the bass is freakin incredible. my friend has this system and when we listen to music it sounds better than the subs in my truck. 2 jl 8w3v3 with a jl xd 500 monoblock.
@ppropps XD500 watt monoblock? You mean the 3-channel XD500/3 (2x 75-watt channels and one 300 watt channel)?
How high do you have you subs in your truck turned up? Do you have them level matched to your speakers? Is there anything in your truck that your subs make resonate? Either way, comparing car subs to a home sub isn't a very good comparison. Compare the Acoustimass module to an actual home subwoofer (such as one made by Paradigm, Martin Logan, Velodyne, or Klipsch; to name a few).
@ppropps Turn it down it a bit to where the bass doesn't dominate the sound. Also make sure your subs aren't resonating anything in your truck, as this adds extra sound. In fact, if your goal is to compare a home sub to a car sub, take the car sub(s) out of the car completely and then compare.
But like I said comparing a home sub to a car sub isn't a very good comparison.
@CelestialTrick10 They use to like 30 years ago, but my hunch the reason they don't anymore is because the aftermarket car audio industry is (sadly) mostly dominated by people who want nothing but sub bass, and I don't think Bose could compete in that market. Plus, they already make a lot of "premium" OEM systems for a lot of car manufacturers, so that may have something to do with it.
@RMAN1231... BTW, the price for Magnepan's range from $325 to $20,000. Even their $325 pair with a sub, puts any Bose made to shame. There are other very good speakers that cost less than Bose, but maggies are way ahead of the game in sound quality for your money.
@ RMAN1231 Back in the day, about 40 years ago, the 901's were pretty cool. The way they used the front wall to create a huge soundstage was mighty impressive. They have to be played loud to enjoy them. The sound is fair, but if you want to hear music the reaches into your soul, try listening to Magnepan speakers. You will need a sub with them, but they make the Bose sound dry, hard, and murky. They don't cost that much either.
Lots of people don't like all that base in a speaker , when am listening to a speaker I want to hear the music , the different instruments in the song , not all just boom boom boom base , Bose give u that clear crisp sound , that's what they was built on , am not saying there the best , I have had all kinds of speakers , I have had the Bose 901 for over 25 years and they are still kicking ass , more the watts and the better they sound , and if I want base I have a klipsch sub, so don't knock Bo
@RMAN1231 The Bose 901's are okay for what they are (stereo speakers), but I'm talking about surround sound systems, which DO need a subwoofer, and Bose's Acoustimass module, for how much their systems cost, could be a lot better. And BTW a good subwoofer should blend in with the music perfectly, which Paradigm's subwoofers do. The "boom car" subwoofer is a bad example.
@RMAN1231 That is what all those fancy adjustments on your stereo are for. Fine tuning it to your taste and not just relying on the drivers to automatically produce the exact sound you want by default. Want less bass from a larger driver then tweak it in the way you want to hear it rather than buy a crappy driver that happens to make a sound you like at default values.
ANY TOWER SPEAKERS 150W+ EACH ARE BETTER THAN BOSE BULLSH!T. I AGREE WITH YOU BROTTHAAA!!!!! i paid 700 for energy tower speakers and it pounds my living room. 1-4g bose sytem did nothing but tickle my feet!!!!!!! BOSE SUCKS!!!!
Comon, everybody knows Bose is merely a big name. My friend bought a set of them for $600 dollars, so we tested them. They are NO WHERE near my 150 dollar logitech z-5300 in sound quality, in bass quality, in surround performance, in treble, in anything. Sad that alot of stupid ppl fall for this.
i like Bose but they are over priced ! i have a def tech pro cinema system with a 300$ Sony receiver and cannot believe how much better it is than the BROKEN lifestyle 25 system.not just sound but over all build quality, now i have a sound dock series 2 and OE headphones and i love them and i do not hate Bose but there surround sounds just aren't worth it !i am thinking of getting the bowers and Wilkins P5 headphones ay opinions on those ?vs Bose OE headphones?
I worked the CES show this past year where they had 6 audio rooms set up to see what was the prefered audio set up. Klipsch, Martin Logan, Paradigm, Mirage, Bose, and some other went toe to toe.
80 something percent preferred the Bose Lifestyle V25 system....
@YeahDudeHella Hmmm, I searched on Google and CES's website, and I found nothing in reference to this. In fact, I found nothing about Bose even being at CES this year (it's my understanding Bose rarely goes to electronics shows to begin with). Not only that, I was able to ask a sales rep from Paradigm AND Martin Logan if this test happened, and they said it didn't. Plus, I think if it happened, Bose would be using it in their marketing.
Bose speakers honestly don't sound bad but for what you get they are overpriced....the company is more hype than anything, they focus on marketing more than the actual product quality.
"Better Sound Through Research" is their motto. NOT Better Technology Through Research.
I don't see any other company coming out with something better than what the others have......do you? Technology "standards", what else is there out there better than what there is that ONE had and the rest don't? See, right now everybody is pushing 3D, yet, almost no one has bought it yet.
@NassguI Umm...how is Bose supposed to get better sound without improving their technology that makes the sound?
You're right about no audio/video company having one thing that sets them apart. The standard speaker design hasn't changed in 100 years. The thing is though, if a company came up with a speaker design that was truly "the best" (like Bose claims to have done), other companies would be trying to copy it. But they don't. Bose is like the only company that uses the designs they use.
@NassguI In fact, the only companies that are using Bose's Acoustimass speaker system's designs are using them in cheap HTiB's. No sound system in Bose's price range copies that design, as it is inferior. Putting the mid-bass off to the side results in bad imaging, and it reduces the mid-bass into mono sound, when all recordings intend mid-bass to be a stereo.
As for what technologies become mainstream, it all depends on what's practical. 3D won't be practical until you don't need the glasses.
hello (falkenlaser) sir i really thanks to u giving nice replies i seen your comments its very useful
actually am very big fan of sony my first sony model rv 60 and sec one is sony muteki 6.2 and third i buyed davdz840 k i enjoyed the sound very much am very satisfied then y bose so over price when compare to sony.sony is best only then y price competition bose good or what giv me straight answer sir.....
@shrivalson Well, first of all, Sony is rather entry-level gear. It's not exactly high-end audio equipment. And in some cases, compared to Bose, Bose is better. But, if you paired a pair of Paradigm, Wharfedale, PSB, Bowers and Wilkins, KEF, Focal, Definitive Technology, Monitor Audio, plus many others, with a Sony A/V receiver, you'd probably get better sound than Bose. BTW, what other brands have you heard other than Sony and Bose?
sir first of all am in tamilnadu am staying in chennai here electronic products r sony,lg,samsung bose, dennon, creative and so many china speakers available here so i choose sony. and more over i dint use Paradigm, Wharfedale, PSB becos these and all not available here so i choose only sony becos here sony is main product sounds also good am having three players still, all ready i said rv 60,sony muteki, and recently buyed davdz840k satellite speakers,
No highs, no lows must be ???

Your angery I don't know why, bose ARE better, there is NO distortion so your can get the sound up louder from a smaller speaker and they are sooo crisp
myrobotnameiszach 1 week ago
@myrobotnameiszach What brands of audio equipment have you hear other than Bose? How do you know Bose is the only audio company that makes speakers that have no distortion; even small ones?
falkenlaser 1 week ago
@myrobotnameiszach dude... ever heard of scan-speak, vifa, visaton, paradigm, REL, monacor or seas? these companies make WAY better speakers than bose does, and as you see in this video: you can get cheaper equipment than bose witch is way better shan bose!
mrgrasmaaier78 6 days ago
Imagine if bose would make bigger speakers like dose , it would be unfortable!!! No one can beat bose! Paradigm are style speakers and no sound quality for their price!! "people that talk bad aboute bose, its because they caint afford"
thatMEX11 3 weeks ago
@thatMEX11 Bose used to make the 701's, which were tower speakers.
How do you know Paradigm is just style and doesn't have good quality for the price? Have you ever heard Paradigm? Heck, what other brands have you heard other than Bose?
Also if I talk bad about Bose because I can't afford it, then why am I showing a system that costs THE SAME as Bose? And why did I make a video called "RE: "Bose Speakers Are the Best! Haters Just Can't Afford Them!" (Pts.1 and 2)", which I suggest you watch.

Not to mention it's also been able to maintain more likes than dislikes :)
falkenlaser 3 weeks ago
@falkenlaser yea well . so mate hows ur system going you got the anthem Amp in the end .
MrMarinlaw 3 weeks ago
@MrMarinlaw Oh yes I still have my Anthem MRX300. It's awesome. It proves that not all watts are created equal, as it's rated at 80 watts/channel with 2 channels driven, and 60 watts/channel with 5 channels driven, yet it can get vastly louder than all the Sony/Yamaha/Denon/etc. receivers that are rated at "100" watts/channel.
I also got a Paradigm Monitor Series 7 Center 1 to replace my Cinema 110 C center, which is a big improvement. And now I'm using my Cinema 110 C as a rear surround.
falkenlaser 3 weeks ago
Not to offend Paradigm subs, but I prefer HSU,SVS, EPIK subs any day. I used to own a HSU VTF-3 MKIII for the money its good all around sub that can play low and high bass with good enough output for the money. These ID companies have really good reputation for making good quality subs for the money. Just wish they have stores all around where we can locally visit. = (
specvtypepnoy 4 weeks ago
@specvtypepnoy Look at the specs of the Paradigm Reference Signature SUB2 :)
falkenlaser 3 weeks ago
Probably one of the reasons why you can hear voices on those acoustimas bass module its probably due to the smaller driver sizes Bose uses. Mostly drivers that size can still produce maybe 5000hz or higher probably limited to less than 10khz. Most Bose showrooms are design to catch the consumers ears due to the finely tuned sound, but take it home its a entirely different story.

OceanAveGaming 1 month ago
@falkenlaser Hey, your videos are awesome! I just have one quick question for you regarding your personal setup, why did you end up going with the PDR-10 sub (not saying that its bad)? You can get much better subs for the price from id (internet direct) companies such as HSU, Epik, SVS, CHT etc. Did you consider purchasing from one of these companies?
GoldPlatedCheese 1 month ago
@GoldPlatedCheese Well I got the PDR-10 for Christmas. But sorry I don't really like ID companies. First of all, you can't hear their gear before you buy, which is a must for me. Not only that, but with an ID company, if you have a problem with your gear, you have no choice but to deal with someone on the phone, and if it needs to be fixed, you have to send it away, even if it's a fix that could have easily been done by a dealer in one day if you would have bought from a storefront dealer.
falkenlaser 1 month ago
FYI the accoustimass modules throw sound and the reason for being able to hear voices is because other systems use a big ass subwoofer, and the BOSE accoustimass module I have has a 6" driver, so for it's size it sounds good to me.
flightmaster178 1 month ago
@flightmaster178 The Acoustimass module has 2 5.25 inch drivers; not one 6".
The reason you have to hear voices out of the Acoustimass module is because the Bose cubes are too small to reproduce a lot of voices, so they have to basically put the mid-bass driver (which would normally be built into the speakers) in the place of a subwoofer. This is, however, a bad design, as all sound recordings intend all sound above about 100 Hz to come from the speakers; not away from them.
falkenlaser 1 month ago
@flightmaster178 Plus, mid-bass is supposed to be a stereo sound (2 speakers on the left and right), but the Acoustimass module reduces it into a mono sound (1 speaker).
Check out the Paradigm MilleniaOnes. They're 8" tall, but unlike the Bose cubes, they can play mid-range and mid-bass pretty well, so they don't need a separate bass module. But, it'd still be a good idea to get a sub like the Paradigm SUB8, which is actually even smaller than the Acoustimass module, yet has a lot more power.
falkenlaser 1 month ago

DirtBikingFag 1 month ago
@DirtBikingFag I've never heard them, but I'd say simply because they are so incredibly different, I could see how someone would like those just for how they "represent" the sound.
They would, however, be horrific for a surround system, for they already create a surround effect themselves. In fact, Bose hardly even makes them anymore. According to the salesman at the Bose store I went to last August, they are special order only.
falkenlaser 1 month ago
@falkenlaser Why would I want a sub that powerful like you said ill sound like an earthquake shake your house and make rattle thats not clarity sound thats rattle. Your like my teen friends in where they put huge woofers in thr trunks (cars) and all you hear is rattle close and from a mile away but what about the voice? I prefer a bit/ A lot of everything
cr91fan 1 month ago
@cr91fan The voice shouldn't be coming out of your subwoofer. But I guess you're just used to your bass module thingy.
DirtBikingFag 1 month ago
@DirtBikingFag uh I know that. It overcomes the voice therefore its just bass Most of the time
cr91fan 1 month ago
@cr91fan Bass with a lot of dialogue.
DirtBikingFag 1 month ago
@cr91fan Actually for music the Fathoms blend in with it flawlessly. Just about the only time you'd notice one is if it was abruptly turned off. They only use their full power when it's needed, which is usually for sound effects in movies or really low bass from rap/hip-hop music; sounds that a recording intends for you to "feel".
BTW, you shouldn't hear voice out of a sub or any type of bass module that's off to the side. Voice is meant to come from the same place the highs and mids come from.

@falkenlaser I don't use them for surrounds. Just when some people come over. For serious listening I use speakers from B&W and KEF.

@cr91fan What about Paramax Speakers? Would you say Bose is better or just about as good as Paramax Speakers?
TheUncleCheese 1 month ago
@cr91fan Okay I see. Yes sound quality is based on opinion. But then you were saying Bose is "the best", and were saying how all these prestigious companies and places use Bose, so therefore it must be the best. Plus you kept saying human's can't perceive sound quality that would exceed Bose's. So it seemed as if you were saying it wasn't based on opinion, and that Bose is the best.
falkenlaser 1 month ago
@cr91fan Oh and BTW, I'd like you to hear a surround system with a JL Audio f113 Fathom subwoofer (13 inches and 2500 watts), which is considered to be one of the best home subwoofers on the entire market. Now that is a speaker you WOULD notice, as it can create an all-out earthquake. You wouldn't hear it; you'd FEEL it, and you would shit bricks. Better yet, try the Paradigm SUB2, which has 6 10 inch drivers in one enclosure, and 4500 watts.
falkenlaser 1 month ago
@cr91fan Not so stupid that we don't know how to spell the word surround, hahahahahaha. What a tool, enjoy your terrible audio while educated motherfuckers enjoy real high fidelity. Bose is for marketing suckers, just like Monster Cable products although at least the latter make products that are actually good, but like Bose similarly over-priced. How do you think they pay for those ads? You look at it backwards, the ads pay for themselves because that's how marketing works. Back2school

@dobyblue yeah I doubt that your speakers sound as loud and as clear as a cinemas.

Plasma. Now OLED. Pwned.
dobyblue 1 month ago
@dobyblue They carry plasmas and led right electronic stores why wouldnt they want to sale you the best and most expensive wich the best is a plasama according to you. Why the fuck would they try and sale an led tv to everyone and not a plasma. what came out first a plasma then led 3d led now oled it keeps improving right? led is in front of your plasma as you can see. hahahaha who owns a plasma now a days so old move on douche haha.Sony speakers i was saying they are garbage idiot not good. wtf
cr91fan 1 month ago
@cr91fan No dummy, LCD technology has been out since 1960's - for LED they just use a different backlight (LED instead of CCFL, they're both LCD TV's) but it's still a Liquid Crystal Display. 3D doesn't change the panel at all, only allows you to display one 1080p frame (Left) followed by 1080p (right) and have the shutter glasses synch up. RE:Sony, hard to understand what you're saying, your punctuation and grammar is atrocious.
dobyblue 1 month ago
@cr91fan Rule of business - push the sets that have the biggest margin, not those that are the best, d'uh. You really that thick? Best $:performance is plasma, plain and simple. And LCD's have been out since the 60's, so who really needs to move on if that's your brilliant assesment of what makes a TV good. Hasn't Bose been out since the 60's too? How about applying your brilliant logic to your crappy Bose system?
dobyblue 1 month ago
@cr91fan Thank you for continuing to show how completely and utterly your ignorance of sound is. I never said anything about the cinema's speakers being clear, what I talked about was the source material. dts and Dolby in the cinema are both lossy, if you understand .mp3 encoding you might be able to follow the conversation. Blu-ray for the home in 90%+ of cases uses lossless high resolution encodes that you can't find in the cinema. Source, not speakers, is the problem. F- for you.
dobyblue 1 month ago

@cr91fan Actually I'm talking about units that are scientifically measurable, not opinions. So you're wrong again. Cute private message by the way, seems you're a homophobe as well. The only reason I'm annoying to you is because I keep pointing out how inconsistent and ridiculous your assertions are, like plasma is old so we should move on, yet Bose is from 1964 and you think they're great because they're still around in 2012. cr91fan 1 month ago
@cr91fan So you base your audio brand preference based on what some "prestigious" entities use? Sounds like you're just buying for the "name" more than you are the sound (a reason why some people think Bose is the best).

cr91fan 1 month ago

Ive heard it its amazing
cr91fan 1 month ago
@cr91fan I will say the Bose PA speakers I've heard aren't bad, but then PA speakers aren't meant to play perfect sound quality; they're meant to get loud. Yeah I saw Bose's/Yamaha's thing (except I prefer Anthem A/V receivers, but pairing these speakers with one of those would make this system cost more than any Bose system). Yes I heard the Bose TV. It's okay, but $5,500 is absolutely ridiculous. You could get a 46" TV plus pay someone to install an in-wall surround system for that cost.
falkenlaser 1 month ago
@falkenlaser yeah well you pay for what you get Bose makes amazing products i own a ipod dock sorround sound system and headphones. Even the headphones they make are great the noice cancelling is amazing great for any type of music. Some airline companys carry Bose. Bose is in the top with other companys no doubt about that. well at least agree with me that Beats by dre arent good headphones or speakers?
cr91fan 1 month ago
@cr91fan It's more like Bose runs kiosks at airports; airlines themselves don't sell Bose.
You mentioned that your BMW 7-Series has Bowers and Wilkins. That is a mistake; the only car company that has B&W is Jaguar. So what you're hearing in your BMW isn't B&W. Heck, what audio brands have you heard other than Bose? (As in surround sound systems).
I haven't heard Beats, but I know they, along with Monster Cable (the company that owns Beats), are all often in the same sentence as Bose.
falkenlaser 1 month ago
@falkenlaser Only thing your speakers make good in is sorround sound thats it? exactly why I say Bose is better they make I pod docks, Headphones, sorround sound, Marine speakers, T.V, Outdoor speakers which Ive seen outside of really fancy shopping centers like Raleys, Macys, Nordstrom. What more can you ask from Bose? I have heard B&W at a store. Anything that is popular or has ads is for a reason. They get that money from some where to put up ads which is from people buying products.
cr91fan 1 month ago
@cr91fan Paradigm also makes outdoor speakers, too, and they just came out with computer speakers, earphones, and soon their have active noise canceling headphones (like Bose has) and gaming headsets. However, most of Paradigm's stuff is super high-end audio equipment. The speakers I show in this video are Paradigm's budget line. They have 3 more lines of speakers that if you built a system with would end costing vastly more than any Bose surround system; as high as $50,000.
falkenlaser 1 month ago

Get real they just cant sound any clearer.
cr91fan 1 month ago
@cr91fan ....and you would know this because you've seen every TV model in existence and you've heard many $10,000+ surround sound systems?
falkenlaser 1 month ago
@cr91fan BTW, before I went to critically listen to the Bose LS48, I listened to a $3000 or so Paradigm Cinema system, plus I had my family's Wharfedale system and my Paradigm Atom Monitors as a reference point.
I expected the LS48 to be at least somewhat good. I was even open to the fact I might be proven wrong. But when I heard it, it was worse than I thought it would be. I actually asked the salesman if there was something wrong with it.
So from my experience, you can get better than Bose.
falkenlaser 1 month ago
@cr91fan actually it can get much better..but it depends on the area and how much can you hear...but for what it is bose is over priced. If you are looking for a small footprint like bose with more future proofing than bose ever could. Compare B&W, Focal, Dali and not only do they sound better, they are cheaper with more capabilities. Study up and you will see there is alot out there. Same with monster cable. Audioquest and others can out perform monster in second.

@dobyblue you act like if that much of a diffrence, and trolling what the fuck i dont even know what that means so I guess not your prob one since you know what it is. you probaly always on the internet and shit and looking up d8000 d8000 that stfu bitch dont exagrate. cr91fan 1 month ago

@cr91fan Ah so only good products sell, that's your thesis? What a plonker.
dobyblue 1 month ago
@cr91fan Oh and I should have mentioned the Yamaha receiver in that Costco thing is a cheap model. This dealer doesn't even sell it.
The point is, if you consider the cost of the materials to make a Bose system compared to other systems that cost the same, as it is shown in this video, Bose's systems have an absolutely HUGE markup. I bet the Lifestyle 48 cost less than $800 to manufacture. So you're paying $4000 for something that probably cost less than $800 to make.
falkenlaser 1 month ago
@falkenlaser its 3,299. not 4,000 how is that overpirced
cr91fan 1 month ago
@cr91fan The Bose Lifestyle V35 is $3,300. The Lifestyle 48, which has an integrated DVD player and a music server, was $4000. And the reason it's overpriced is if you consider how the Lifestyle 48 (and all of Bose's Lifestyle systems) are made, and you compare that to what you can get for that same price from other audio companies, you can conclude Bose is making a HUGE profit off the Lifestyle systems. I bet the Lifestyle V35 costs at the most $800 to make, and I imagine it's less than that.
falkenlaser 1 month ago
@cr91fan I havent listen to diff sound systems?? haha aftre this you wont say anything. Who hasnt gone to the movie theathres? haha I know I have, some THX approved. They have the best sytems right? better then yours or mine and of course it sounds louder then my bose and yours. But the clarity doesent sound to diffrent so dont exagerate.
cr91fan 1 month ago
@cr91fan No they don't - in fact cinemas use lossy audio tracks. dts audio on DVD (when using 1.509 Mbps) is better than dts in the cinema, on Blu-ray you have lossless audio tracks. The opportunity for audio fidelity in the home is better than the cinema. Clearly you have a lot to learn.
dobyblue 1 month ago
@cr91fan Actually movie theaters use PA speakers, which are meant to get loud and not sound good, whilst [good] home speakers are meant for sound quality. So, a good home theater system will kill the sound quality of a movie theater. In fact I saw Transformers 3 in theaters 5 times, so I know what it sounded like at the theater. But once I got it playing on my system, it sounds 10x better. Same thing with every movie I've seen in theaters and played on my system; my system simply sounds better.
falkenlaser 1 month ago
@cr91fan So tell me how many different HOME theater systems have you heard. Compare apples to apples here.
falkenlaser 1 month ago
@cr91fan Also, every surround system in existence, even $100 Walmart ones, have Dolby Digital. It's what's needed for surround sound to even work. Saying Bose is the best because it has DD is like saying a Kia is the best because it has a steering wheel.
What more do I want? How bout the fact Bose's systems lack DTS-HD, which nearly 2,600 of the near 3,850 Blu-Rays in existence are coded in? How about Bose's systems not having 7.1 surround sound, which A/V receivers as little as $200 have?
falkenlaser 1 month ago
But Bose give great sound and they are tiny! These speaker are all the size of bricks... sorry dude don't have space to fit speakers in my living room that are the same size as my tv...
DisneyResortFilms 1 month ago
@DisneyResortFilms Watch my video "Paradigm Speakers MilleniaOne and MilleniaSub." The speakers in that are small (about 8 inches) but use parts from Paradigm's speakers that would normally cost more than any Bose system.
Get 5 MilleniaOnes, a Paradigm SUB8 sub, a Yamaha RX-A810 A/V receiver, and a URC remote, and you'd be close to the price of the Bose Lifestyle V35. Not only would you be getting small speakers; you'd be getting the sound of speakers that'd normally cost more than Bose.

my vintage sony speakersmhave paper drivers but they sound 50x better than the bose does. that sad. my 30 year old speaker is still better and i only paid $5.00 for them used.
raymondleeleggs 1 month ago
@raymondleeleggs My Dad's DCM Timewindows, which are about 30 years old, use paper drivers, and they sound awesome, too (and blow away Bose).
The main problem with Bose's paper drivers is that Bose uses them for high-frequency drivers, which no kind of paper is good for. Other audio companies that use paper drivers only use them for mid-range and mid-bass drivers, while they use materials like silk or metal for high-frequency drivers.

Is paradigm significantly better than a company such as klipsch or onkyo?
jakethesnake11 2 months ago
@jakethesnake11 Anthem (a company owned by Paradigm that makes electronics) blows away anything Onkyo makes (but then most of Anthem's stuff is vastly more expensive), and I'd say Klipsch's RF lines of speakers are somewhat comparable to Paradigm's Monitor line (Klipsch speaker's sound is too bright for me, though), but Klipsch's Synergy line (the crap sold at Best Buy) doesn't come close to Paradigm.

EASTYJAZ34 2 months ago
Agree that BOSE is extremely overpriced for the tech, but some of their systems are pretty slick in terms of form factor and a more of a lifestyle choice in many homes (kind of like Apple products). You can source much more sophisticated and better sounding systems from other vendors if you're interested.
In particular the cases, drivers, and other parts are VERY low quality compared to other options.
droliver 2 months ago
@droliver Very true. The nearest Bose dealer to me sells Bose's Lifestyle systems based on the fact they come in one box, are easy to set up, easy to use, and take up very little space. But, they will tell you that you can get much better sound quality for the same money or less.
However, 90% of the time, I hear people buying or wanting to buy Bose's Lifestyle systems because they think they're getting the best sound quality for the money, and consider the small size an afterthought.
falkenlaser 2 months ago
The thing is bose has a great sound and the bass is freakin incredible. my friend has this system and when we listen to music it sounds better than the subs in my truck. 2 jl 8w3v3 with a jl xd 500 monoblock.
ppropps 2 months ago
@ppropps XD500 watt monoblock? You mean the 3-channel XD500/3 (2x 75-watt channels and one 300 watt channel)?
How high do you have you subs in your truck turned up? Do you have them level matched to your speakers? Is there anything in your truck that your subs make resonate? Either way, comparing car subs to a home sub isn't a very good comparison. Compare the Acoustimass module to an actual home subwoofer (such as one made by Paradigm, Martin Logan, Velodyne, or Klipsch; to name a few).
falkenlaser 2 months ago
@falkenlaser JX 500 i Meant and it is a littler more than halfway turned up.
.
ppropps 2 months ago
@ppropps Turn it down it a bit to where the bass doesn't dominate the sound. Also make sure your subs aren't resonating anything in your truck, as this adds extra sound. In fact, if your goal is to compare a home sub to a car sub, take the car sub(s) out of the car completely and then compare.
But like I said comparing a home sub to a car sub isn't a very good comparison.
falkenlaser 2 months ago in playlist Uploaded videos
@ppropps bose speakers only go down to 40 hz. thats quite poor.
you probably like the bass because its loud and not low.
in that case, if i bought bose and heard how shit the bass is, id probably stomp the subwoofer.
logitech subwoofers sound better then bose subwoofers

Quick question: Why doesn't Bose try to sell aftermarket car audio?
CelestialTrick10 2 months ago

RMAN1231 2 months ago
@RMAN1231 The Bose 901's are okay for what they are (stereo speakers), but I'm talking about surround sound systems, which DO need a subwoofer, and Bose's Acoustimass module, for how much their systems cost, could be a lot better. And BTW a good subwoofer should blend in with the music perfectly, which Paradigm's subwoofers do. The "boom car" subwoofer is a bad example.
falkenlaser 2 months ago
@RMAN1231 That is what all those fancy adjustments on your stereo are for. Fine tuning it to your taste and not just relying on the drivers to automatically produce the exact sound you want by default. Want less bass from a larger driver then tweak it in the way you want to hear it rather than buy a crappy driver that happens to make a sound you like at default values.

I worked the CES show this past year where they had 6 audio rooms set up to see what was the prefered audio set up. Klipsch, Martin Logan, Paradigm, Mirage, Bose, and some other went toe to toe.
80 something percent preferred the Bose Lifestyle V25 system....
the nerds have spoken apparently
YeahDudeHella 2 months ago
@YeahDudeHella Hmmm, I searched on Google and CES's website, and I found nothing in reference to this. In fact, I found nothing about Bose even being at CES this year (it's my understanding Bose rarely goes to electronics shows to begin with). Not only that, I was able to ask a sales rep from Paradigm AND Martin Logan if this test happened, and they said it didn't. Plus, I think if it happened, Bose would be using it in their marketing.

NassguI 3 months ago
@NassguI Umm...how is Bose supposed to get better sound without improving their technology that makes the sound?
You're right about no audio/video company having one thing that sets them apart. The standard speaker design hasn't changed in 100 years. The thing is though, if a company came up with a speaker design that was truly "the best" (like Bose claims to have done), other companies would be trying to copy it. But they don't. Bose is like the only company that uses the designs they use.
falkenlaser 3 months ago
@NassguI In fact, the only companies that are using Bose's Acoustimass speaker system's designs are using them in cheap HTiB's. No sound system in Bose's price range copies that design, as it is inferior. Putting the mid-bass off to the side results in bad imaging, and it reduces the mid-bass into mono sound, when all recordings intend mid-bass to be a stereo.
As for what technologies become mainstream, it all depends on what's practical. 3D won't be practical until you don't need the glasses.
