  • Are you sure you were getting the full 11.1 RPM off that 1kV motor? :)

  • Great flying and vid, always a pleasure to watch.

  • you must be putting 5000 volts trough that 1kv motor

  • Hi Dave. I'm returning to RC after a 20 year break and just wanted to say thanks for taking the time and trouble to put all your tips and ideas on YouTube. It's helped me out a fair bit. Also, happy Christmas and new year to you too. Stu. UK.....

  • House of the Rising Sun instrumental in background! wow!

  • @NightFlyyer OK, thanks for your advice and really good biplane project ;)

  • I also moved out of SoCal 9 years ago. Wish I had stayed in the Western states though - NW Pennsylvania blows!

  • 1kv is the same as 1000 revolutions per volt right? I never understand why they call them "kv" like in a 1000kv motor. It should be called a "1kv motor" aka 1 kilo = 1000 RPM per volt

  • Nice! Is that the motor off your predator? Someone gave me a old plane made by Megatech called Night Flyer. The first thing i thought about was you. I still like to listen to the old salts. If i get the plane to fly I'll call it Dave.

  • motor works great, I have about 10 Hobbyking orange DSM2 receivers, they all work great and bind easily with my DX7, I can recommend these to all of you if you have a DSM2 compatible receiver, cheap RX's but very good.

  • How much was the plane all together?

  • Great video.....nice scenery! Amen to escaping the stress of So Cal.... almost out of here!

  • 1 kV!!! how does it even fly?

  • @TheBrushlessracer that is exactly what im wondering...

  • @TheBrushlessracer 1k is 1000 rpm per volt. 11x 1000 + 11,000 RPM

  • @TheBrushlessracer probably meant 1,000 kv when he said one. AND IT DIDN'T FLY!!!

  • 1KV?!?!?! so on a 3s it will spin 11.1 times per minute?

  • @RCllamadude 1k is 1000 rpm per volt. 11x 1000 + 11,000 RPM

  • Good flying little Bipe, with you Mods. The sunset over Sibley was the perfect background for the flight Video Dave. Tom

  • @beech18s Thanks kindly sir. It was a nice sunset for sure..

  • Man Dave how do you not just fall down from dizziness when you do circles like at 4:16?! Haha nice video, good one to wake up to.

  • Well that flyes very well and looks steady in the air ,good old cox does it again {"_*}

  • Sweet plane, it's larger than I expected. More power = More fun! ;-) Thanks again!

  • another great video, where did you get the plane?

  • I just got an Sback 342, this thing wasn't even possible back in 2007 :D

  • Electric motors are never called engines but Internal Combustion Engines are sometimes called motors, it's not that confusing.

  • @MrROTDThen what is an Internet Search Engine? It's electric. Come on man...a little wry Humor. It is an old subject.

Maybe General Motors and Ford Motor Company were talking about their Electric starter motors when they started their companies.

Would you be more likely to put motor oil in an engine or a motor?

In aerospace, rockets are considered "motors" as well. Your right, not confusing. LOL.

  • @MrROTD You can't argue with Dave. Don't even try. lol u might not even be arguing, but whatever. Awesome vid as always Mr. Herbert!!

  • Very nice flying and relaxing to watch.. always big fan of all your video!!

  • Great flight, then and now.

I remember watching the first video like it was yesterday.

Has it been 5 years already?

Time flies when you're having fun!

    You're a good guy Dave.

    Keep up the great work.

    Thumbs Up ~ Eric

  • @joehandsome99 Thanks Eric. It sure was a while ago already. I remember you as one my first subscribers. Thanks for the long time loyalty.

  • Dave was that you? singing with house of the rising sun faintly in the background

  • @dnmac5 Yes. I played the guitar tracks too.

  • hey dave I still have a cox flying saucer I got like 12 years ago has the 2 stroke gas engine and the foam body ! I love that thing I still fly it from time to time I had to put a gps locator on it I got tired of hunting it down

  • Awesome job Dave ! Nice landing also:)

  • the music of this video sounds like runescape music, a mmorpg game! It's a little bit nostalgic for me to because I've just played this game 5 years ago LOL

  • @ErickSchwartzVlog Thanks. It's one of the first songs I learned to play when I was a kid. House of the rising sun, my rendition.

  • I purchased one of these when Cox was just about giving them away and it is still in the box. The more powerful motor is interesting. What motor did you use here?? Is it just something with a 1.7Kv rating?? Also, what size prop was used? Can you point me to your lighting system? THANKS for all the great videos you have been posting!

  • love to fly man because i don't crash anymore just having a blast

its also a scratch build its pretty beat up but its the proto type if thats what you call it

might build another one and improve the flaws

  • @RcTranMD Good for you. Keep moving forward and all will get better with time.

  • Why did you move to the mid west?

  • @RegularGuy76 Had a Life threatening operation for a misdiagnosed burst Appendix, flat lined 2 times, and after surviving, I decided to change my life and get out of the Southern California Stress. Thanks for asking.

  • good day sir, i'm very interested on your posts and i want to make my own rc plane. my problem is can i make an improvised receiver, transmitter and servos while my motor is a dynamo from electric drill ? or a motor from remote controlled car ? thanks !!!!

  • @chezonereds You have a great goal, but you will find many roadblocks with a drill motor. The car motor would be better, but for under $100 there are many planes already built with radio and motors. But if you can pull it off, make a video. We would like to see it. You dont know if you don't try. Thanks kindly and good luck.

  • such an aswome sky

  • I have a new Fokker DR. 1 48" 40" 38". I have no running gear in it yet; just built so far. I like that Christian Eagle. Such a pretty bird.

  • @ehelibuff73 Thanks very kindly. I appreciate your comments. Now get it flying..

  • @NightFlyyer The airplanes are my passion and i'm trying to build my first plane but i don't understand very well how to make the wings. It's necessary calculate the lift and the wing loading. Can you help me? Thank you for your kindness.

  • @peppehardrock Flat wings will work, as like in 3 D indoor planes use, so it would not be that important to figure out wing loading. I would use the dimensions of an existing plane with known good flying characteristics. At least you would be close. Good luck.

  • love the music. animals

  • @baliblades Thanks. I played it myself.

  • Great Vid!! Always been a big fan of the Christian Eagle... Just great to see it in the air again! Thanks Dave!!!

  • @waitnsea Your welcome. I appreciate your comments.

  • Cool, makes me want to fly my home made bi-plane,lol, thanks for everything Dave!~Bob

  • @WildBobsRC Thanks Bob. Yep, gotta love those Bipes. Get it out and fly.

  • And of course! Happy new year!!!!

  • Thank you for this lovely video, Dave! I have been always an Ch Eeagle fan, but never thought the small Cox flies so nicely. Plus, man, you have really steady thumbs in any case!

    One question:

I see you use the HK Orange receivers. What transmitter you use? In the video I can hear the trimming little beeps of a Spectrum. Is that right?

I have a DX7 and want to know some realistic input about these two working together.

    All the best, Dave.

And thanks again for the Christen Eagle!

    Ar.

  • @argat11 Thanks for the kind words. Yep, I used the HK Orange Receiver with my Dx6i. It will work with the Spektrums and I have found them to be very reliable. I have 8 of them. Good luck and happy flying.

  • @NightFlyyer Thanks, Dave!

  • Great video Dave!!

  • enginecycle! mint!

  • I know hangar 9 has a nice christian eagle.....I was thinking of getting a glow powered biplane ready for spring. What biplane do you recommend? I only started getting ads on my rc videos a few months ago, but is great to actually get some or in your case all of your money back....and some, lol. We all appreciate the thousands of dollars you probably spent out of your own pocket buying and reviewing rc planes and helis. Liking and commenting and watching your vids is our way of saying thank you.

  • @flyingchimp99 Pitts and Christen Eagles are my choices for biplanes, however I used to use the Lou Andrews Aeromasters for competition, albeit is not a scale plane. I wish I could get all the money back. Don't hold your breath. I put way more money and video making hours in than I ever get back. My pay is hearing you like the videos and especially if they helped you in some way. Thanks very much for your support and comments. ~NightFlyyer~

  • Nice video of an old RC flyer from days gone by. Jazz up the opening and you might find some makers of RC stuff wanting you to preview their products more often. You seem to know how to put on a show so there is more to see than a dot in the distance. Thanks.

  • @Tsavah Thanks very kindly for your comments. I appreciate them.

  • amen!!!!!! to the terminology

  • @TheWeavert92 Right on!

  • Very nice, as always!

  • @IndyColts1885 Thanks kindly.

  • Thanks for another great vid

  • @MegaUSAF Your very welcome sir. Thanks for your comment.

  • Very Nice Night for that Sir, Thank's for another great Video. Cheer's

  • @johncirri Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed. Happy New Year..
