Tenho uma pergunta. Eu saquei o jogo pela internet (axo k foi no baixaki ou algo parecido. nao me lembro). Mas o som nao funciona. se uso a versao de baixa resoluçao, os graficos sao horriveis, mas ha som. de qualquer maneira, quando ganho ou carrego no ESC em baixa resoluçao, o jogo bloqueia. em contrapartida em alta resolucao funciona muito bem, a excepçao do som. é preciso sacar alguma patch, ou modificar algum ficheiro, ou algo parecido? @humanish1 Deixa-me adivinhar: estás a usar o Windows Vista, certo? O Carmageddon II é bastante antigo, portanto não funciona 100% bem em SOs modernos. No Vista, ele dá quase tudo bem excepto o som. Quanto ao ir abaixo quando carregas no Esc, isso acontece ocasionalmente, até no XP.

Não há nenhuma maneira fácil de ter o jogo a andar óptimo. Podes tentar jogar no DosBox ou algo.

Ou então, certifica-te que não carregaste na tecla S lol. Essa tecla liga/desliga o som.

@rcsibiu VERY unfortunately, Carmageddon II can't be played online unless you use an IPX network. There are some WIP patches and mods that allow netplay, though, but I'm not sure how well they work.

in the first carmageddon game you can also jump over something and end up in 'nothing':in the first level(maim street)you will see at the end of some roads roadmarks.behind that a wooden gate thing.if you drive fast enaugh against those roadmarks you will fly over it :) or u use that kangaroo thing

@MrWickkie Unfortunately, there's no Kangaroo on Command powerup in the first Carmageddon. But I think that going against the roadblock might work. My Carmageddon is acting pretty weird now, so please tell me if it's worth making a short video out of. In other words, do you just jump in a void and automatically recover on the tracks? Or do you get to drive around in that void?

@srb2Espyo you could make a video of it (maybe you could put it between other vids?) but when you get over that wooden thing ( by driving against that roadsign ) there is a short piece of road and then void : you will fall down and respawn on that short piece of road.there is no turning back.

If you want to know the truth, I noticed the UFO the first time I entered the level (by looking at the map). Can you believe that several people called me on the UFO, as if it were severely hidden?

The truth is just that there are several of these things that are not common knowledge. But they are still interesting for those who don't know them.

It's sad, but it's not :( It's almost, because it is a few years old. Also, don't quote me on this, but I think Sci doesn't have much power now. If I recall correctly, if you try going to Sci's website, it'll redirect you to EIDOS site. IDK if that means that Sci is slowly losing power and eventually go bankrupt, or something else.

I wish there were more Games like these. The levels in Carma 2 are pretty awesome, apart from some missions that is, only mission I liked was the CopCar mashup!

But the overall atmosphere in Carmageddon 1 rocked. Carmageddon 3 was annoying, run over humans jumping around on one leg throwing molotovs eeeww! ;p It was also much harder killing other cars, like in ways that split them or you in half he he he.

Welcome to the world of Carmageddon. If you played for a while, you know that it osn't easy to get used to. You have three choices: complete all laps (not to good), kill all pedestrians (hard) and waste your opponents (easy). Try destroying every opponents car by crashing against them. After a while, their health is so low that eventually they die with a good hit. It takes a while, but keep at it. The boxes around the level are powerups. Use them.

To get new cars, first waste them, then buy.

When you start the game, it'll most likely show a dialog with some video options. Well, I know that I always use Direct3D, and that choosing Direct Draw makes you want to pluck your eyes out. I think that 3DFX also works well. If your default option is Direct Draw, change it to another one and try again. If the dialog doesn't show up, well, there's a way to re-activate the dialog pop-up, except I forgot how.

Well... per se, I can't say, but when you launch carma2.exe you'll probably be presented with a launcher. Try chosing all the different options. One of them might be good.

Movie? Either MY carma2 is really messed up, or you're confusing something. Either way, I don't exactly know what the right answer might be. Maybe it's that "below" option that should work but doesn't. That's probably due to a problem with your graphics card or something :S.

You can race for fun whenever you like. Instead of racing/killing/wasting, just do whatever you like. You're going to need time for that, so make sure you do something about it first.

My Max Damage is purple because it is a secret car. Once you complete the game in any difficulty, you will get every car in the races, 2 extra cars (even though one of them doesn't work) and 7 (I think) alternate colors for Max Damage.

To move the minimap, you gotta press the SHIFT key. If the minimap is not available, go to the controls menu, check out which button toggles the minimap, and press it, ingame.

@srb2Espyo Found your post by accident. Do you know how to enable minimap in 3dfx mode? In game it shows that i have it enabled, but it doesn't appear on the screen. In Direct 3D mode all works fine, but as we all know Direct 3D Mode in Carmageddon2 is very buggy, 3dfx was always preferred. Maybe there is a file responsible for this minimap (except options.txt)? Thanks in advance for replying.

@SlashButcher That's odd... I didn't play much with 3DFX, but I'm pretty sure I always had the minimap on when I played. Maybe it's there, but out of view? Did you try moving it with shift for a while until it appeared on-screen? If not, then I don't really know...

Options.txt does indeed store the minimap's coordinates and whether it's visible or not, but other than that, no other file changes the minimap directly. I'm assuming you tried toggling it with End (the default key)?

@srb2Espyo Yes I tried moving it, even on (visible) D3D mode i tried to move it out of view - you can't. Options.txt can only 1 = turn on and 0 = off. In both versions of this game i had, with zombies and with people, toggle minimap key was always assigned as M key. End is buying an extra power if there are empty slots available. Also is not an issue with resolution because i run 3dfx mode in 640x480 and I don't have problems with mouse cursor as It was typical running it on higher resolutions.

Well, I tried downloading Glide again, and the minimap appears fine. I do however have some trouble with the mouse cursor: it can only move in a small space in the screen. So as you can see, even I'm having a bit of trouble with Glide. But I still find it odd that I can see the minimap and you can't...

@SlashButcher Well, I downloaded zeckensack's Glide wrapper. The website is all blue and such... also, I use Windows 7. But even when I first tried Glide, it was with Windows XP, and I'm pretty sure I had the minimap on.

@srb2Espyo Thats a typical carmageddon 2 issue with the cursor. It's because carmageddon 2 runs in 640x480 resolution. You have to right click on CARMA_HW.exe and go to properties and set to run in 640x480 resolution. Apart of minimap, i have also bugs since i added some custom cars. To change a car after finished race i have to restart the game, otherwise will crash, but i got used to it. Minimap was most important. So this time I hope I could help you ;)

@SlashButcher Well, I knew it wasn't quite a typical issue with the game itself, but it was an issue with 3DFX. Thanks for the tip, that did the job! As for custom cars, I tried adding some in the past, and IIRC, I never had any problems. But hey, at least they work.

@srb2Espyo To be honest this resolution thing thats the most common problem in carmageddon 2 3dfx mode. When I was playing this game back in 1999 i had to manually change resolution in windows 98SE settings. The game was always running not stable, several freezes, problems I had even on dedicated Voodoo Banshee graphic card back in the day.Too bad that poor Carma TDR was the last release of this game. Yet C2 is the best and one and only game with such gameplay. I'm glad that I could be of help:)

Its effect is more visible when your car is flipped to a side, and you're standing still.

i found a secret that is not in the 2 videos. when the car rolls onto its side press and hold the accelerator key and tap 3 to 5 times (not too slow and not too fast) the wheelspin key and the car will be on wheels again. note: the car must not be moving or this will not work.

Well, that's not actually a secret. That is the real function of the Wheelspin key.

That would be considered more a technique than a secret. But keep searching more secrets!

One one of the desert missions (I forget which one sorry) - those pyramid things open up at the top and a lift takes you down. If you go inside its full of Hieroglyphs on the walls of 'Grey' Aliens. At the bottom is an alien chamber with loads of aliens doing experiments on cows!  Anyone got a capture of that?

The race at the end is the mission. I can't understand why do you hate them. Most of them are really cool! (Except for some boring...)

Anyway, to "unlock" level select, you must, sorry, complete the game. Which means, the missions also.

But if you want to cheat your way out of the missions, type SMARTBASTARD in-game. It's your game, cheat it if you want.

Also about the Steel Gonad'O'Death cheat, it only works with cars that have a SHELL.DAT file, most addon cars don't have such a file so are incompatible with the cheat.
