I live under Paris-Roissy final approach, and I tell you, it's the only aircraft landing there I don't hear. I'm not pretty disturbed by aircraft reactor sound (happily), but this one is very silent. Only the reverse thrust are noisy.
How much better? Airbus set the bar much higher than any previous aircraft. Even if the 747-8 has better range, fuel consumption, load, etc, it will just be an over-sized 747 that copied the A380's model of success.
Competition is all it is. We all knew it was a matter of time before Boeing had a fight on its hands, and it looks like Airbus is gonna deliver it. A380 has set the bar high, but in all reality, who cares what plane it is. As long as I get to where I want to go safely.
I personally much prefer the A380 over the 747. Everyone says that Boeing is gonna be better but you just don't know until it happens. Its another version of the 747. I don't think it'll match the A380. We'll just have to see.
The reverse thrust yes. Otherwise, ai I live just below the final appraoche/departure on Charles-de-Gaulle Airport, I can assure you this aircraft is the most silent passenger aircraft ever made. It's simple, from my room I can hear all aircraft traffic on LFPG, and this aircraft is passing over my garden, I can see it but I almost don't hear it.
Oh lordy lordy, guys what the hell is all this bitchin going on here from both sides of the Antlantic??? Kids...
The whole idea and concept about the A380 is to cut down on air traffic and pollution! Why fly 3 aircraft from New york to London when you can fly the same amount of people in 1? It has nothing to do with who is better than who. Wake up and smell the coffee.
You can't actually fill it up. Wake up. There are heaps of destinations in the world and there is no chance in hell that 800+ people would go from one specific source to one specific destination....it just doesn't happen. The 747 is all that we need.....the 747-8i is perfect. The GEnx engines are much less pollutant than the Engine Alliance GP7200s....and all the space on the 747 is nicely used, unlike the A380 where 20-30% is completely wasted.
So why don't they offer business class for all at economy class fares? There are potentially lots of destinations where you can fill this marvelous bird. I believe you'd love this plane if it were made by Boeing.

Where is the A380 failing?
When the 747 first went into production back in the 60's boeing actually was scared and thought it would be a flop and a waste of time and money also because it was so big. Were they wrong????
To ANYBODY who thinks that America sucks or for that matter, American AIRCRAFT, such as the Boeing 747-400:
YOU ARE THE DUMBEST PEOPLE EVER.
If it wasn't for William E. Boeing, this A380 would never EXIST. Get it? Possibly even AIRBUS. Because if it wasn't for him, there would be no such thing as pressurized cabins and air transportation.
To the poster here below...u're not well informed. That Airbus is NOT French. Many european countries,in different ways, take part in what Airbus does.France,Italy,Germany,Spain,UK...
Motors are from Daymler group (UK) and lot of manufacturing work is made in germany and spain. But conception, financial and managment are 95% French. Headquarters are in Toulouse (France).
Add that French state saved Airbus twice and the market stock is part of the CAC40.
That's why you will find a lot of people considering it's a french company, while ownership is splited along few europeans company (for some owned in part by French also :p).
Motors? "Daymler?" pfff......where did you hear that? Just in case you didn't know, we are talking about AIRCRAFT. Not cars. BTW, it's Daimler, not whatever you spelled it. The ENGINES are from either Engine Alliance or Rolls-Royce. Get your facts straight.
Oh yeah...and because some stuff is American and just because of that fact..makes it better than ALL the rest thats out there...sure...go fuck yourself.
I'm not saying American stuff is all bad and I don't hate Americans or any of that (only some arrogant so called patriotic pricks, we got those over here too). But be fair Airbus is a very good competitor. In fact a lot of major US airlines buy Airbuses nowadays ;) Nuff said.
Have passenger air fleets purchased the A-380s and are they using them? btw are they really safe to fly in since there so big im guessing the pilot would have a hard time landing and taking off
it's not the first. i witnessed the A380 land at LAX 6 around the last week of January 2007. that thing is massive, you couldn't miss it. i was reading about it, so i knew what it was when i saw it, they hadn't painted it yet, so it still had the A380 on the tail.
I live in a city, Langon, where parts of the A380 for several days waiting to Toulouse where they will be assemblés.J 'I was shocked by some comments!
They speak Tracks are stuck!
They are not stuck!
They are welded, tested, test By Force!
I spend a little Hello to America that I love immensely!
If a person questions about Airbus, I would be happy to answer qestions! Thank you
Do you even watch the news? The airbus A380 is the most efficient super jumbo ever build (20% more efficient than most versions). And Boeing has had many accidents with it`s planes over the last few years. Not to mention that Airbus is also producing new small highly efficient planes for that segment of the market.
Airbus have just reached 200 sales for the A380 and are building a new small efficient version like the dreamliner as well. Over the last few years many boeing 737 have come in the news for crashes and accidents. Airbus planes are definitely better for now. Because of the demand they will start developing a 650 seat (900 seat all economy) Airbus A380-900 version in 2012.
my uncle saw it fly right over his house just before it landed, then he ran inside to to watch the rest on tv...he said it was about 15 sec difference between the time he saw it and the time it landed :)
get off these videos with your pathetic patriotic arguements which have no basis fact. aviation doesn't need your petty squabbling over who country makes the best a/c. infact if you could see past your egotistical cranium then you would realise all manufacturers produce good and bad.
the A380 is an aviation marvel just like the 747 and concorde. it brings new innovation for future travel, thats all that counts. the sooner that is realised, the sooner ur heads will be free from your arses...
What are you talking about?!! Boeing is what started it all!! Airbus came in late in the 70's and has done moderately well in business but Boeing beats Airbus by a long shot! PLUS! Boeing is better with the economy by adding winglets to their airplanes, unlike Airbus that uses wingtip fences that eat up fuel. I know that's your opinion about European manufactures but its a fact that Boeing got in the lead for making planes when the 707 was introduced.
You seriously think that's true? Do you even have any proof? I can't believe you have the guts to make an idiot of yourself. Anyways, nOOb, the USAF fighters are composed only of: * F-15A/B/C/D Eagle * F-15E Strike Eagle * F-16C/D Fighting Falcon * F-22A Raptor
the F35 JSF is the next gen for air to air combat as well as air to ground.Vertical Take off, landing on carriers and long range missions.get your facts straight.
Only a few of the JSFs will be VTOL, and taking off and landing vertically requires so much fuel that it's combat radius will be halved once it gets in the air... The JSF is a great plane, but has had to make major concessions in many areas. Its major positive features also lead to negative ones: maintaining stealth makes sure that it has to carry its weapons internally, so it has a small weapons load compared to conventional fighters, etc.
Its major selling point is stealth, something which is only usefull in the opening stages of current wars, once the enemy anti-air and radars have been taken out you're better off with conventional set-ups that can carry more weapons, while requiring less fuel and less maintenance.
long range missions? without external fuel tanks? i know they're developing stealthy fueltanks now, but that's still a while off.. as of this moment the JSF has only its internal tanks to rely on, giving it a limited range without aerial refueling.
I said long range missions.I didnt specify wether or not it would or would not include Air Refueling or extra tanks.and to your point about the external tanks..why would you put external fuel tanks on a plane now a days?especially when missles and other weapon's systems are getting more advanced and more capable of destruction.
I think what he need's to know is that we(USA) have 4100 military planes i'm not talking about civil, which most of them are new built. let's not talk about the old one's we retired them (F-8, F-4, F-14, and soon F-16) only south west airliner has 600 planes, I think the hole Europe including englend and eastern europe don't have that much plane, so don't wory about what they say :)
Funny that! couse when they did test flights and dog fights! the Eurofighter out performs the f22a raptor everytime, the eurofigher is more agile and has more moruverbilty than the raptor and climes faster it kills everytime in mock dog fights! even the austrailian goverment is having second thoughts on bying them, go on google and your find it!
They had to choose between European and an American re-fueling fleet and chose the European ones in a fair process as being better suited for their needs, but American politicians now want the contract to go to the American company simply for political reasons.
Also the American forces could never perfect the vertical take off system so they bought the British harrier, this is just two examples, why would the US air force but a civilian passenger A 320?
Naaa.. we were too busy designing Concorde at this time. The only reason it was made big was because you lot were so fat. I mean it was the only way of getting 20 Americans across the pond in one go.

The A380 is a real pain in the American ass.
But I must admit that I like the 747-8I very much.
AmbassadorMolari 2 years ago
My personal favorite is the 747-300. Next is the 747-400, then the 747-8i. The A380=Epic Fail. Nobody could fill that hunk of junk up.

To the poster here below...u're not well informed. That Airbus is NOT French. Many european countries,in different ways, take part in what Airbus does.France,Italy,Germany,Spain,UK...
sheverardez 2 years ago
Motors are from Daymler group (UK) and lot of manufacturing work is made in germany and spain. But conception, financial and managment are 95% French. Headquarters are in Toulouse (France).
Add that French state saved Airbus twice and the market stock is part of the CAC40.
That's why you will find a lot of people considering it's a french company, while ownership is splited along few europeans company (for some owned in part by French also :p).
Best Regards
7Kronos 2 years ago

I'm not saying American stuff is all bad and I don't hate Americans or any of that (only some arrogant so called patriotic pricks, we got those over here too). But be fair Airbus is a very good competitor. In fact a lot of major US airlines buy Airbuses nowadays ;) Nuff said.

it's not the first. i witnessed the A380 land at LAX 6 around the last week of January 2007. that thing is massive, you couldn't miss it. i was reading about it, so i knew what it was when i saw it, they hadn't painted it yet, so it still had the A380 on the tail.

What happened with the Titanic is a classic example of what happens when an executive interferes with the Captains decisions.
(+ design flaws in the ship). Ironic, but if the ship had hit the iceberg head on, it would not have sunk.

Hello I'm French who loves airplanes!
Thank you

USAFThunderBirdsFtw 3 years ago
Airbus plane always fall apart because they are glued together. Beoing has a better stategy with smaller and more effcient planes.
EscapeNewJersey 3 years ago
Do you even watch the news? The airbus A380 is the most efficient super jumbo ever build (20% more efficient than most versions). And Boeing has had many accidents with it`s planes over the last few years. Not to mention that Airbus is also producing new small highly efficient planes for that segment of the market.
Dutchdrummer99 3 years ago
Airbus has jumped the shark with this plane. It is too big. Boeing planes are built better and their models make better sense in todays market!
EscapeNewJersey 3 years ago
Airbus have just reached 200 sales for the A380 and are building a new small efficient version like the dreamliner as well. Over the last few years many boeing 737 have come in the news for crashes and accidents. Airbus planes are definitely better for now. Because of the demand they will start developing a 650 seat (900 seat all economy) Airbus A380-900 version in 2012.

Who said that an aircraft has to look good to complete it's task, the A380 is still an impressive plane.
zedextreme8177 3 years ago
get off these videos with your pathetic patriotic arguements which have no basis fact. aviation doesn't need your petty squabbling over who country makes the best a/c. infact if you could see past your egotistical cranium then you would realise all manufacturers produce good and bad.
the A380 is an aviation marvel just like the 747 and concorde. it brings new innovation for future travel, thats all that counts. the sooner that is realised, the sooner ur heads will be free from your arses...

Ubeans2001 3 years ago
Even the American air force would rather buy European planes!!!!!!!!!!!
79274333 3 years ago
You seriously think that's true? Do you even have any proof? I can't believe you have the guts to make an idiot of yourself. Anyways, nOOb, the USAF fighters are composed only of: * F-15A/B/C/D Eagle * F-15E Strike Eagle * F-16C/D Fighting Falcon * F-22A Raptor
You're such a loser.
jodellstasic 3 years ago
The US air force recently had a choice between american and European `planes chose the superior European `planes.
79274333 3 years ago
the F35 JSF is the next gen for air to air combat as well as air to ground.Vertical Take off, landing on carriers and long range missions.get your facts straight.
DagoBoogieMan 3 years ago
Only a few of the JSFs will be VTOL, and taking off and landing vertically requires so much fuel that it's combat radius will be halved once it gets in the air... The JSF is a great plane, but has had to make major concessions in many areas. Its major positive features also lead to negative ones: maintaining stealth makes sure that it has to carry its weapons internally, so it has a small weapons load compared to conventional fighters, etc.
DeBurgemeester 3 years ago
Its major selling point is stealth, something which is only usefull in the opening stages of current wars, once the enemy anti-air and radars have been taken out you're better off with conventional set-ups that can carry more weapons, while requiring less fuel and less maintenance.
DeBurgemeester 3 years ago
long range missions? without external fuel tanks? i know they're developing stealthy fueltanks now, but that's still a while off.. as of this moment the JSF has only its internal tanks to rely on, giving it a limited range without aerial refueling.
DeBurgemeester 3 years ago
I said long range missions.I didnt specify wether or not it would or would not include Air Refueling or extra tanks.and to your point about the external tanks..why would you put external fuel tanks on a plane now a days?especially when missles and other weapon's systems are getting more advanced and more capable of destruction.
DagoBoogieMan 3 years ago
I think what he need's to know is that we(USA) have 4100 military planes i'm not talking about civil, which most of them are new built. let's not talk about the old one's we retired them (F-8, F-4, F-14, and soon F-16) only south west airliner has 600 planes, I think the hole Europe including englend and eastern europe don't have that much plane, so don't wory about what they say :)
lexlov250 3 years ago
Funny that! couse when they did test flights and dog fights! the Eurofighter out performs the f22a raptor everytime, the eurofigher is more agile and has more moruverbilty than the raptor and climes faster it kills everytime in mock dog fights! even the austrailian goverment is having second thoughts on bying them, go on google and your find it!

I don't recall the U.S. Air Force having an A320..
Ubeans2001 3 years ago
They had to choose between European and an American re-fueling fleet and chose the European ones in a fair process as being better suited for their needs, but American politicians now want the contract to go to the American company simply for political reasons.
Also the American forces could never perfect the vertical take off system so they bought the British harrier, this is just two examples, why would the US air force but a civilian passenger A 320?
79274333 3 years ago
I think you mean the A330.

jodellstasic 3 years ago
Europe builds more commercial and military planes than America, and always has.
79274333 3 years ago
Naaa.. we were too busy designing Concorde at this time. The only reason it was made big was because you lot were so fat. I mean it was the only way of getting 20 Americans across the pond in one go.
