@haemishripper i see your point and it's a good one, but it's about compassion and mercy, at that time only he could save that bug...... and though he had no reason to stop and do so..... he did anyway, if humans did this for each other more the world would be better. Plus, from a logical viewpoint, that beetle has the chance to reproduce now, creating a much larger food source indefinitely.
