  • Duke Ellington played hard bop? You're a complete idiot Learn something about music before you decide to embarrass yourself in public like this

  • this is nonsens

  • I don't know much about jazz but didnt Billy strayhorn did the "take the A train song, or was I wrong

  • You're right about that, actually Billy Strayhorn wrote the tune and Duke Ellington was the one to showcase it, the two worked together for many years, this guy doesn't really know what he's talking about and should never have posted this video,

  • @JHoffTrumpeter lol thanks for the info!!

  • giant steps is more modal jazz than it is hard bop. post bop yes..............BUT NOT HARD BOP

  • @solostrad 'Giant Steps' is the antithesis of modal jazz, It uses Coltrane changes - it moves around by major thirds (B-G-Eb-B) and is improvized using pentonics scales. Miles Davis revolted against this by inventing modal jazz with his creation of 'So What', which is entirely based on the D and Eb dorian modes.

  • @solostrad Modal my arse! giant steps is in no way a modal tune, pure hard bop.

  • why not play some example of the music in the background during these 'history of jazz' music lists? the up beat newer music that Is Not jazz in this is really off putting.

  • your a prick. go learn your shit
