  • @grnkl115 Line of Duty Death

  • I was completely taken back by this audio. I cant imagine what you guys are going through. It makes you think twice about what we do for a living. My heart goes out to our fallen brothers families, fellow firefighters and friends.

  • RIP Brothers.

San Fran Brothers- From experience, I know you're going through your darkest days. Stay strong.

Everyone else- From experience... what your are hearing isn't even close to the whole and true story. Yes we will learn lessons from this but let them grieve first. Let the lessons be taught by those that were right there and willing to speak about it.

  • This is a tragedy, I have only been to one structure fire and it wasn't anything I can even compare to this. Rip and my -3 goes out to the family, brothers, and friends

  • RIP Lt. Perez and FF/Medic Valerio. Condolences to the family and friends!

  • RIP Lt. Perez and FF/Medic Valerio. Condolences to the family and friends!

  • OMG! this sooo sad! I'm sorry if this is a really stupid question but if all the people were out, why did the firemen go in there? Or how did they end up getting trapped like that? My heart goes out to families and all the firefighters in San Francisco. I'm so sorry this happened :-(

  • A couple of quick points here:

    1) What you're listening to is a scanner that monitors not just tac channel but dispatch channels as well but not all on same channel.

    2) Dispatch should monitor, but not transmit on Tac channel, thats what command channel is for.

In closing, before anyone offers criticism, if you're a fellow firefighter, which I think most of us here are, don't assume that you've heard/read/watched enough to make a call about this tragedy to make a judgement. RIP brothers

  • Timecop007, my thoughts are with you. May your brother rest in peace. He was your brother by blood and he was our brother by the grace of God. We will never forget him.

  • 81Enginek

The only way to learn, and get better, is to address the things that go wrong so that we ALL get better.

Two weeks from now is not the time to address the issue.

The only disrespect we show them is failing to fix the problems and allowing it to happen again.

This has incident is very reminiscent of the Hackensack incident, no accountability and unnecessary radio traffic covering the mayday.........

  • If this is all on the same channel they have comm. issues. You can have to much info, not allowing others to speak........ Every time command calls for E26 he gets a dissertation from BC9, they could not get a word in edgewise.

Where was ICS? no apparent OPS, SAFETY, or ACCOUNTABILITY sectors. It takes dispatch to alert them there is an issue.......

  • @Globie359 where u there? Show some repect for the fallen brothers and keep your comments to yourself. We dont need monday morning commentary. STFU!

  • Rip Brothers.

  • rip, so sad, just so sad

  • I am reading your post here and I think you all have to listen to the actual radio dispatch, this is a shorten version not real time. The last time you hear what may be E-26's call for help was @ 18 min. and 50 secs and then @ 22 min and 54 secs radio informs Fire Command that E-26 has hit their emergency response key and has not responded for five min. ( i am a member of T-12)

  • @J2TDFB Yes, you're right. It's not real time. Thanks.

  • Batt 6 was already looking for 26 because of their failure to return traffic. He found them right after the erroneous report that E20 was the one that sounded the alarm, and the report from E20 that they were enroute.

  • R.I.P. Brother

  • Just a side note listen at 5:18, E26 is covered trying to call a Mayday. that is the last time you hear from them and they are covered.

  • @firesoldier233 I think that's Battalion 6 with unintelligible traffic at 5:18, searching for 26. Sad to say, I don't think E26 was in any condition to call a mayday by that time.

  • But I'm listening to it over and over, and it sounds like Valerio's voice at 5:18. I certainly hope so, because it would mean less down time and therefore better prognosis.

  • Prayers goes out to my Brothers and Sisters of SFFD and the families of the two Firefighters!

  • RIP Brother

  • There's some confusion on the tape about whether it's E-20 or E-26 that generated the alarm. Engine 26 is last heard from at 1:45, consistent with the report from Radio at 7:16 that the engine sounding the alarm was unresponsive to alarm check for five minutes. Engine 26 is called repeatedly by the division chief starting at around 2:37, and don't respond. It sounds like they went down right after reporting zero visibility at 1:45. I've known FF Valerio for 27 years, and my heart is breaking.

  • My heart is breaking as I listen to this. All of us at Contra Costa Fire dispatch have you in our hearts and mourn the loss of your firefighter with you. I pray your 2nd firefighter pulls through.

  • firefighter down starts around 7:00 mark

  • This is just heartbreaking. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

  • Godspeed Brothers...
