  • For those who don't understand the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu style, it's a chess game. At times you can't go for the immediate defeat and you have to be patient....but the end is inevitable as you saw. I've had my share of larger opponents who underestimated not only me, but more importantly Jiu-Jitsu.

  • what does this video show other than brute strength can overcome some skill. clearly body builder was beating trained fighter towards the end. body builder was shorter as well but still more than held his own.

  • Size and strength matter.Do you think a bjj black belt would beat a gorilla? It has two arms and two legs the same as us so if size and strength don't matter?

  • @Thensolomonsaid A gorrillas muscle fiber and a persons are EXTREMELY different, Gorrillas weigh just a little more than us, there are strong power lifters who weight more than gorrillas, and Chimpanzes weigh about 100 pounds AT THE MOST. And they are WAY stronger than any 200lb man, so comparing those animals in a dumb statement. Size and strength matter I agree with that though, but a healthy grown male vs another bigger healthy grown male is still a fair fight.

  • @myloveforMMA I was using it too over emphasize that size and strength can overcome technique.I am a judo player and i have trained at bjj clubs and beaten some bjj players who are much better than me because i have a little knowledge but plenty of strength. So by your statement you say that a massive bloke who is freakily strong will beat a good bjj player?

  • @Thensolomonsaid You're still using technique, and like you said "beaten some" but not at. You didn't beat the ones with extreme technique and skill. And if you did you should consider trying out for the UFC. I think by your statement you're the one saying someone strong will be a good bjj player, I mean to say the opposite, I also grapple mostly on brute force, one day I grappled this little 5'4 130pound Marine, tiny man... I couldn't do jack squat I was surprised.

  • @myloveforMMA All fighters in UFC have strenth. Much of it...

  • @GreenPanther13 Okay thank you for stating that Captain of the Obvious SS Enterprise.

  • @myloveforMMA And I thank you for your childish reply...

  • @GreenPanther13 Should I thank you for your kindergarden like comment? You didn't explain anything. Where you arguing with me or agreeing? It sounded like a self righteous short comment, but I am actually saying MMA fighters are better fighters than every other type of fighter when it comes to simple hand to hand, 1vs1 combat.

  • @myloveforMMA What should I explain to you, you moron? I just saw your discussion with thesolomonsaid and left a comment. Instead of writing ironic crap you could just ignore my comment, if you didnt like it...

  • @GreenPanther13 "Instead of writing ironic crap you could just ignore my comment, if you didnt like it..." Take your own advice.

  • @myloveforMMA And plus, if you take someone like Coleman to fight a 150 pounds BJJ fighter who is not strong and is based ONLY on technique, dont tell me he could be beaten... Dont judge the UFC fighters... They use BOTH strength and technique, most of them take steroids and they are 200 pounds of lean muscle mass (heavyweight)... We are talking about muscle size and strength only vs technique only...

  • Pedro Sauer!!

  • The meat head had some good base,if some one would have taught him some sub defense he might have pounded the jits guy out.never know....Still cool to watch.

  • WHY DID THE FIGHT STOP AT THE END ??

BECAUSE THE BODYBUILDER WAS KILLING THE JJB GUY , NOT GOOD FOR THE SHOW ...

  • @SuperOwni the bodybuilder was getting ass kicked he almost got his arm snapped

  • @SuperOwni THAT IS VERY TRUE. THE BODYBUILDER WAS JUST STARTING TO DESTROY THE JJB. THIS BIG GUY ALREADY GOT HIM.

  • Love the haters on here, only have negative things to say.

  • Ahhh HD I see..

  • the point of this vid is to show a bjj master guy need 20 years training to survive a bodybuilder who never trained martial art ...

  • @SuperOwni youre kinda close minded for a 54 year old

  • bjj is shit, Overeem proved it !

  • @SuperOwni I'm sorry but how did Overeem prove that BJJ is shit? By losing to Werdum, Rua, and Little Nog, noted and highly skilled BJJ practitioners?

  • @kzell11b you are talking 5 years ago, Overeem won Werdum last fight and he showed clearly bjj limites. But i am talking for the next 5 years, bjj is dying slowly like japan martial art is dying too

  • @SuperOwni Braz JJ is dying? Riiiiiiight...that's why Dos Santos, Aldo, GSP, Spider Silva, Cruz, and even Ben Henderson, all UFC champs, hold belts in BJJ. And what does the time frame have to do with anything? Quit trolling dude. Your argument makes no sense.

  • @sosy1325 dos santos will loose soon against overeem man and he will loose straight on his legs...and they all have belt in bjj because they borned at the golden time of bjj and grow up with it because there was nothing else on the market. Mma fighters likes to try new things and bjj is going to be old very soon. Bye.

  • @SuperOwni HAHAHA. Thanks for the laugh. You just revealed your ignorance if you think that the Jiu Jitsu of the 90s is the same as the Jits of today. Bye, troll.

  • @sosy1325 its is the same... it is the people that are different you closed minded fool.sport jiu jitsu and grappling are ways to develop a false sense of real self defense jiu jitsu.

  • @sosy1325 LOL ! there is nothing new in bjj, each years its more dificult to a bjj fighter to put on the floor another fighter. This is what Overeem taught to Werdum last year, Werdum was praying Overeem go to the floor with him lol ! and Akiyama who is in end course showed too Shields a bjj black belt couldn't him with bjj tecnik. I will not tak to you about Rolles Gracie, it's too AMBARASSING...LOL!

  • @SuperOwni You were pretty entertaining for a troll. But between your ignorance of MMA and atrocious spelling and grammar, now you're just sad to read, troll.

  • @kzell11b stay in your dream lol , you need 20 years training bjj to survive a bodybuilder !

  • @SuperOwni And you only need 20 years of bodybuilding to beat a jiu-jitsu player!

  • @SuperOwni LOL no you don't, I know plenty of new amateur MMA fighters who would tool 90% of bodybuilders who don't know anything about combat sports or grappling.

  • @myloveforMMA man the only embarrasing thing is Rolles Gracie ! he left UFC faster Superman...

  • @SuperOwni The only embarrasing thing here is your spelling. And just how you have argments to spew from your filthy whore sewage mouth that BJJ sucks, I can also show you plenty of arguments, EVEN MORE, that show BJJ is generally by itself the best hand to hand no weapons involved one man against one man Martial Art the world has seen.

  • Yea guys go ahead and rely this video on the backing of you being able to beat up someone that has a huge weight/strength advantage. Too bad bjj is gracies life and the only instance that this guy would get beat in a street fight.. if he so happened to run across a gracie. 99.9% of the guys that commented on this video would get their ass beat by the bodybuilder. True stuff.

  • The point of this was to show people who train martial are better fighters than those who do not! Strong fkin logic! Next video: A professional footballer players football against a bodybuilder!

  • LOL ! FIRST GRACIE PUNCH ARE VERY BAD, HE PUNCH IN CIRCLE...SECOND GRACIE DIDN'T WIN, IN A STREET FIGHT WITH THE SAME GUY GRACIE WOULD BE KILLED BECAUSE THE BODYBUILDER TRYED TO RESPECT SOME RULES SO HE DIDN'T SPASH GRACIE HEAD ON THE FLOOR THIS IS EASY TO SEE !

  • @SuperOwni Bollocks.

  • I occasionally see these big muscle mass pumped up dudes come into my mma gym for drop in nights, bringing their full repulsive ego with them, and I always get an awesome feeling when I see them completely physically exhausted after the 15 minute warmup (if some of them even make it past the warmup) Then when the sparring/wrestling practice comes into play they get beat by everyone, and at the end of the seshion they leave with an attitude like "this is fucking gay" and they never come back. lol

  • Judo techniquies are more effective, uses their own weight against them, the bigger they are, the harder they fall.

  • Reminds me of an article i found by chance, in which a tennis player beat a bodybuilder at armwrestling. The scientists explained it was due to the explosive muscles of tennis players B-)

  • mind over body

  • lance is indeed the terminator. pedro= t1000

  • Filmed with a brick.

  • brains over brawn / technique vs brute force... a perfect match (as long as the other opponent does not have any ground game, then there's a certain chance that the turn out will be 90-100% be in favor of the grappler)

  • No mamen digamos la berdad se la dieron igual los dos ,esperaba mas del cinta negra

  • @SuperKio7 Imbecil el cinta negra le hizo una palanca de brazo(llave) y gano.

  • Comment removed

  • Wtf ?? I was thinking the bodybuilder wins xD

  • Bodybuilder trains to build muscle.

    Bjj guy trains to fight.

Also, muscles that big require A LOT of oxygen. Bodybuilders can tire very quickly because they aren't built for endurance. Look at the athletes that run marathons. Their muscles are small to conserve oxygen.

  • @hondaciviccoupe10 I take it you've never seen heavyweight collegiate wrestling

  • ahhh filho da puuutaaa!..... aahhh filho da puutaa!... AHHHHHHHH FILHO DA PUUUTAAAA!

  • Gustavo tua opniao não vale nada inutil vsi tomar nu cu Hail Jiu jitsu!

  • NA MINHA OPINIÃO ,O FORTÃO SÓ PERDEU POR QUE NÃO SABIA LUTAR NADA ! SE SOUBESSE COM CERTEZA VENCERIA .

  • check out my jiu jitsu blog! devondelbruggebjj.blogspot.com/

  • im a lebanees and i practice jujitsu

and gracie he will come in lebanon teatching us

    yeaaaahhhhhhhh

  • Indeed pure technique brought down the giant here...and indeed this was shot with a toaster.

  • the1cooljay....hahahahahaha. That's me laughing at you and your ignorance. Bodybuilding is no sport either.

  • What's with the frikin music

  • hahaha organized fights ln the old times are best

  • TOTALY pointless but good to watch nevertheless

  • Pure technique is not greater than pure strength....just as pure strength is not greater than pure technique. They are 2 different things. Compare apples to apples. Bodybuilder vs Ju Jitsu are completely different sports. You guys are funny.

  • Hey you guys want to see a modern day gracie challenge look up": ralek gracie jiu jitsu ", you won't regret it.

  • @jamelwalker2 video deleted

  • Um....mr black belt nearly got killed. Lucky he landed a kick to the big guys nose right before the big guy broke his neck. I'm not impressed at all...strongman with no skill still nearly killed him...lol

  • @the1cooljay

um... bodybuilder rolled around on top of him for a while, landed zero punches, got tired, got armbarred. I'm not sure how that's "nearly killed him," or why the kick to the face matters when "mr black belt" was about to break the guy's arm

  • don't let Gracie fool you, he has awesome strength as well ;)

  • cobra vs crocodil

  • high quality

  • of course hes gunna win cause the bodybuilder has no type of fighting skills bodybuilding is in a whole different category smartones

  • @ce1916 No shit dumbass, Its just showing that jiu jitsu is about not needing strength to take down your oppnents. How it uses technique rather then raw strenght.

  • Le dieron una sacada de mierda para poder ganar esta pelea... en el arte de la guerra, si lo que vas a perder es mas de lo que ganaras... no vale pelear hasta estar seguro que tu victoria será rapida y contundente.... o simplemente no pelear.

  • thats how 1p looks like

  • @alumynabjj- shut the fuck up dumbass it says1994 and ive seen some videos from the 80s that look way better then this shit so you know what fuck you!

  • @alumynabjj- shut the fuck up your noting worth my time

  • Nice video, proves technique is better than brute force, but did it have to be drawn out and melodramatic? Just wanted to see the BJJ guy toss the BB the ass-whooping of his life!

  • I bet the body builder got so gassed after the first 30 seconds.

  • he know nothing about bjj but if any that black belt will bow

  • @iiRegulate605 This is what film looked like back in the 80's. What are you fuckin' 12?

  • @iiRegulate605 nope...i think they recorded this with a toasted bread

  • i love the way "Mr. Utah" is flexing those big arms of his prior to the fight.. only to end up being armlocked. Pedro Sauer is the man

  • 1 month mma training and the bodybuilder would have destroyed them

  • @olympian2011 lol...no way

  • @olympian2011 yes, but they are in vastly different weight classes. The point of this was to show that pure technique > pure strength.

  • @nomilkforsanta yes i agree but thats what gracie barra is all about , i have just started at a club and i am into my weightlifting and bodybuilding ,i was put up againt a kick boxer and i toataly destroyed him,i surprised myself as i have no stricking back ground, and a guy in my class trained for 5 months with no prev fighting ability and won gold at a competition in england

  • @nomilkforsanta LOL bodybuilders don't have power

  • @olympian2011 you do know that train couple of movews in a month and actully doing them in a match is two different things

  • @sarangahe yes i do know that i was holding back on him

  • @olympian2011 lol your fucking joking right? go drink some muscle milk and jack off to some mr.universe re-runs.

  • @conner1ize joking about what you idiot,i dont drink muscle milk or watch body building you fucking cabbage ,maybe one day when you grow up you will be half the man i am if your lucky

  • @olympian2011 yeah your right, hopefully ill grow up to be the kind of ''man'' who goes around on youtube bragging about what a badass i am. yeah i wanna be fucking tool just like YOU. enjoy being a GNC stockboy you douche bag

  • @conner1ize no ones bragging i was talking to someone else till you but in now fuck off ,no one was talking to you ya tit

  • @olympian2011 .......good one juice monkey, need some ice for that burn? later

  • @conner1ize wha ha ha ha ha ha ,small minded fool only an idiot would say i am a steriod user because a do weight training, more like 15 years in the gym idiot

  • @olympian2011 no one gives a fuck

  • @conner1ize clearly you do enuff to comment on the way i look you retard

  • @olympian2011 not exactly but you certainly sound like you really love yourself, i bet you talk in 3rd person and jack-off infront of a mirror and or fraternity bros, i guess being gay IS a choice

  • loyal bjj or gjj

  • jits him!

  • 3:05 "Kick his ass sea bass!"

  • Captain Obvious says: Bodybuilder =/= Fighter.

  • epic music!

  • not only that but the bodybuilder had no idea how to defend submissions. Stupid fight. He was getting dominated, and still would of if the bodybuilder new how to defend

  • All I can say is that my personal experience of a few of the Gracie family is that they are friendly, humble, and eager to pass on knowledge. People call the Gracies bullies and Ive never found this. Other styles Ive trained have shown off their art by bullying - the first boxing club I went to basically smashed the crap out of me! I think its great to have pride in your art and I dont think the Gracies would ever physically damage someone permanently, unlike other martial artists out there

  • guys, there not BULLYING...

first, they dont force peopel into fighting, both side must agree.

second, this isnt to showboat, this is to prove a point, at this point of time BJJ wasnt popular, how else would they get the news out there?

you have to beat the best to prove yourself amongst the best. BJJ did that and now they are recgonized.

  • Loyalty GJJ

  • A rather pointless fight. Have to agree with Roggy, it is essentially a form of bullying/ showing off.

  • @4Mobius You do realize the body builder was the one who picked the fight?

  • @b00k3r No I didn't. Thanks for clearing that up.

  • Comment removed

  • hate the gracies

  • hahaha muscle-heads.

  • this is betamax movie LOL tracking wasnt fix lol

  • even non coloured movies from 2 world war are better quality.

  • What did you record with? A video camera from the late 80s - early 90s? LOL

  • @mknippy1 ... That's when this fight took place.

  • @ThePinkMan I know. Sarcasm doesn't transfer well through text.

  • I don't quite understand... since when "bodybuilding" is a martial art? You can't show your technique is efective fighting against persons who doesn't know hot to fight. It doesn't matter how big they are.

  • @Dragnesi Exactly, i hate Gracie's cos i think they pick on people.

  • @roggy12345 i hear this a lot about the gracie's being bullies. Can you please explain why you believe this?

  • @syncopoly they hand pick fighters they know they can beat, like big guys that dont have grappling knowledge so they know they will beat them easily. I remember they tried to pick on this karate champion(yes they try and pick out champions that have no grappling knowledge to beat them) but he was something like 55 years old, old man cant remember his name. He said he is old and would rather fight helio than the offered gracie, then they refused and also found out he is master in judo.

  • @roggy12345 It's not like they force them into it. They pick masters of different disciplines and people significantly bigger than them to prove a point.

  • @roggy12345 It was probably Benny Urquidez you're talking about

  • @roggy12345 I think they just wanted to prove to the world that Gracie Jiu Jitsu isn't about size and strength, it's about effective techniques. They exposed a weakness in the Martial arts world and proved if you want to be legit you have to know bjj. I think they did what they had to do to truly prove there system is effective. Thanks for your opinion, but I still don't believe they're bullies. The Gracie's have my respect

  • Arm bar you gotta tap or you break.

  • que nem anaconda. oh yeh!

  • jiu jitsu brasileiro o melhor!

  • @joeylusptogov The bodybuilder taped out, muscle is not always what wins a fight...

  • Amazing! Did the body builder tap out? I saw the arm bar applied, but didn't see whether he actually tapped.

  • fuck fighters no one stands agiant a real and nurtal bodybuilder .

  • Master Pedro should have broke his arm so that there wouldnt be any confusion about the winner. wonder what would have happened to this poor bodybuilder if would have face the Legend Rickson Gracie

  • @ChoChoDef

    2 things

1st you're an idiot, he maintained butterfly guard until the opportunity arised for him to submit a guy that has over 100 pounds of muscle mass more than him that was laying on top of him. everything he did was deliberate. and he executed it properly. what would he gain by sweeping and getting on top? the guy would throw him off easily, and standing its only a matter of time. his best chance is guard

2nd that guy would submit you in under 5 seconds

  • 2 things

1st I'm quite surprised the JiuJitsu guy doesn't get out of the bear hug on the floor!! if you're a skilled jiu jiutsuka or judoka you can get out of it easily using 1 or 2 groundfloor techniques. I am really surprised this guy has a black belt.

2nd.. considering this is a street fight, I wont be keeping on my shirt or GI, as this can be used against me to hold or grab me. It's impressive to wear a GI, but not always effective. I am quite dissapointed in this guy.

  • @ChoChoDef

First off this wasn't a street fight. Second of all Professor Sauer helped bring BJJ to the US. There are some differences in the styles today vs. when this contest took place. Hey, don't take my word for it. Why not train at one of his Professor Sauer's schools? Then you'll see in person why he is so good.

  • @ChoChoDef The gi was used as a vital tool in this fight as the body builder covered himself in vasaline and the gi dried it all up.

  • One cannot compare a skilled martial artist to a bodybuilder. The martial artist will win every time.

  • @Desmond8043 Unless they're competing in bodybuilding.

  • @sanchezsalvia1 haha, fair enough :)

  • Since when is "Bodybuiilding" a style? I knew the winner of this fight as soon as I saw the tale of the tape.

  • @GGGeoff it's kinda a lesson in life the poster wants to teach. it's NOT about how big you are, or how strong you are... maybe if you dont know what it's really about, a bigger opponent means you will lose, but if you know how to fight... thats all you need. any size. sometimes bigger people are easier to fight, they are slow, and once you get them down, they dont have the agility to move like us smaller people can. i have ran circles around people twice my size.

  • @renzokata Then why are there weight classes in almost any fighting competition? I do agree that size doesn't say much about fighting ability, but saying size doesn't matter is also not true.

  • @baledain it doesn't matter to me. i hate to brag but i can honestly tell you that i've wrecked lots of people twice my size, twice my strength. i'm a little dude! lol. you just cant be afraid and have what it takes. know how to seriously hurt someone and go right for the kill. i'm especially brutal with larger opponents, i dont want to give them a chance to win. the only thing that stopped me from winning against bigger opponents, is fear. that fear made me hold back.

  • @renzokata Best thing is always speed and agression to win a fight. I'm quite a big person and a bouncer and I do not ever underestimate a guy because he's small. Dumb thing to do when you're big. Never expect your size to intimidate or win a fight. Though it quite often does.

  • @baledain Weight class were not always part of mma, they were only added to make the sport less "barbaric".

  • Lance Batchelor was convicted for anabolic steroids dealing in 1998. He served for over a year and now is a personal trainer for a private gym in Scottsdale, Arizona. Also I read that he is legally blind, is that true?.

  • Hahaha. I like this.. This proofs no need to go to gym. Just learn martial art, TMA or MMA are both okay.

  • Next up is a Brain surgeon vs a Dentist. Really?

  • @ptuku weight doesn't mean anything unless its a fighter vs another fighter. You're comparing a guy who trains to kill vs a guy who trains to look good for competition.

  • bodybuilder vs an actual fighter? thats like saying police officers aren't good doctors

  • @keshav0312

don't you get the point? look at the weight difference. the one that practices jiu jitsu managed to armlock all those muscle, even if it took a while.

Seems like many people ignore the weight difference in muscle thus strength

  • why didn't the body builder do body slams. he's probably strong enough to completely lift up gracie and slam him back down on teh ground.

  • @IIkingdomII If you know your grappling you expect someone that strong to try to slam you, if they have the chance. Then you put on a neck crank. Game over.

  • @IIkingdomII weights do not strangel around arm/legs/throat you know

  • and that's the reason they ended up on the floor :p

    so he did one
