  • Ótimo video, muito bom, gostei...

  • il-96-300 is one of the best planes i have ever traveled in, personally i would say it is beater that a 747 ( which is old). when i landed in Cuba and gatwick the landing was hard too feel because the pilots and the plane were both amazing

  • il-96-300 is one of the best planes i have ever traveled in, personally i would say it is beater that a 747 ( which is old)

  • anacrobat89 ---- what you know stupid! have you traveled on this plane across continents? this is one of the best planes in the world....

  • @antorise1 Listen, I know about Russian pride, but the reality is that this plane is bad for pilots, passengers and maintainers (mechanics) compared to Airbus and Boeing products. The interiors have no room for carry on bags. The seats are awful. Lighting is ancient. Sound insulation is almost non-existent and air recycling systems are just plain terrible.

  • The 96 has absolutely no future. Even Aeroflot is trying to get rid of them. Their engines eat so much fuel that every time one takes off, you lose money.

  • @afcgeo Engines of this plane eat not so much of fuel like u think))) It can be uquiped with a RR, P&W and our ПС90-А)))

  • @Panch124 Even with PW engines, the economy of this plane just doesn't work out. New planes use light weight polymer materials and designs with low drag that this plane just cannot match. With 4 engines, this plane is just too expensive to fly (when compared to A340.) There is simply no comparison with the two engined Boeing 787 or A350 or even the 767-400/A-330. Russian engines are awful. Poor reliability, poor fuel economy and no parts.

  • Its a pity they stopped production of the civilian version of this aircraft. UAC should have better customer service around the globe in countries willing to buy Russian made aircraft. It sounds a lot quiter compared to the A340-200 series. The engines on the A340-200 would always seem to hum or buzz a bit like the noise from a noisy prop plane.

  • i flew on this airplane.. it is fantastic. it can fly from havana to moscow nonstop fly.

almost zero turbulence.. can a boeing airplane do the same?

  • @antorise1 Zero turbulence?? that's just an idiotic statement. Sorry.

  • @antorise1 Turbulence has nothing to do with planes. When you're flying across an ocean, you're flying above turbulent air at altitudes over 30,000 feet. Any plane ride is smooth up there. You must have enjoyed it so much because you haven't flown on any other airplane on long distances.

  • The best soviet aeroplane in the world !!!

    ^_^

  • @elettrico00 it is Russian, not Soviet - production started 1993 after USSR collapse and all those produced have been produced in new Russia, not Soviet Union

  • @grettorful It's Soviet because it was designed by a Soviet aircraft bureau in the 80's. All aircraft were produced in the former Soviet Union (CIS.)

  • @stasisnu18 most of the airbus aircraft of aeroflot are brand new .

  • @SU0229

you might be right on that one, but i would still prefer to fly to Russia in a Tupolev :) and if I go to the states i would prefer a nice Boeing :)

  • @stasisnu18 i love russian aircraft but why would an airline order some russian aircraft that have 2 or 3 times more higher fuel burn and are alot less energy effiient than an airbus or a boeing

  • @tonightwefly Let's compare a Boeing 767 and an Il-96-300. The former has 2 engines, takes 200 passengers onboard, and burns 6 tonnes of fuel. The latter has four engines, takes 300 passengers and 15 tonnes of cargo onboard and burns 7 tonnes of fuel.

  • @aleko008 Boeing 767-400 seating capacity is up to 375 passengers in high density layout. Still burning much, MUCH less fuel per seat mile than anything in Russia.

  • @stasisnu18 I hope so too. Then they'll go bankrupt and real airlines like S7 can have a market with free competition.

  • russian airlines sucks worse in the history never go with them ever its free

  • @leon6266 so maybe you, australians, will show the world what you have done in this field?

  • canamwing you are a fuckin loser, its got fuck all to do with world war 2 you fucking retard. But arseholes like yourself cant think of anything better or interlectual to say about the subject other than having to bring up the past. i think you should get over it LOSER.

  • What a nonsense,

please check the records before writing nonsense.

  • I'd love to fly a russian airliner! I think they're fantastically over engineered! Just because theres not many of them flying in Europe and USA people don't seem to trust them.

  • Big risk is your lufthansa pilots who givs noob lover pilotes lending plane in croswind. Thats a real risk!

  • I am entitled to my own opinion, what i think about russian aircraft. And that is i dont like them. I wouldn't feel safe on one

  • That is just because the Russians handed your german ass back to you on a plate after WW2. Get over it.

  • Don't like Sovier/Russian planes much but ILyushin makes some great airplanes no doubt.

  • i like the aeroflot scheme , looks nice,, even the il-96 looks sexy, but am not a fan of russian aviation!,

  • Ild love to fly on one of these!!

  • No, this is an IL-96.. looks a lot alike an airbus but still its very different.. it only shares few alike configurations..

  • nice aircraft. Is this comparable to the Airbus A340?

  • You sure? I recently flew with Cubana Il-96, just over the A340 noisy, but there is more legroom than Air France A340 in economy class. Also, Cubana crew much more friendly (but, of course, this depends on the airline, not the plane).

  • pity that this aircraft has no future..

  • No future??...it is still in production since 1993 and it has had several improvement, specially in the cockpit controls. Dude, there are older airplanes that are still in production, like the 747. As a matter of fact, the IL-96 is smaller that the 747 but it can do Habana-Moscow non-stop travels without problems. Trust me, this is a serious flying machine.

  • The Il-96 production has been stopped.

  • @Ahuntsicspotter wrong! - production will continue till 2012, after that cargo-freight version IL - 96-400 will continue to be produced, but production of passenger IL-96-300 will be stopped.

  • @Shmacktop what is a future of any aircraft? - cargo-freight version of it - IL-96-400 have just started production, as for passenger version IL-96-300 it will be produced till 2012 - so several more new planes will enter service within 2-3 years...I think all in all they will be in service for 20-25 years more up to middle of 2030-s....so everythiong is fine with future of these aircraft...

  • i would LOVE to fly on this aircraft! on what flights do they fly?? I know only that Cubana fly this from paris -> cuba, or toronto -> cuba, but wich ones fly to/from moscow?

  • Is there still a market for russian aircrafts?

  • Yes, the latest one the SSJ100 is becoming very popular, as it was desinged to western standard with the help of Boeing and Semeca. The IL96 is still getting orders abit very few from countries that cant source western designs such as Cuba and Zinbabwe.

  • I think the SSJ-100 is going to make it. Ilyushin is working on a aircraft comparable with the A321, it's called the MC-21.

Maybe you can say that the TU-204 is a little success......

  • MC-21 is Ilyushin or Yakovlev project?

  • Air Zimbabwe has never confirmed the order of IL-96, but Conviasa ordered 2 planes. SSJ100 is a Russian-Italian co-production, Boeing is not involved for almost nothing.

  • I like the IL-96 to the IL-86 both are great but the IL-96-300 looks better in my opinion, i like the wing-let at the tip of the wing.. still the interior of the aircraft could improve abit though..no offense

  • @Thanhkim it doesnt really matter about the interior its how safe you get to the place!!

  • IL 86-First flight December 22, 1976

    IL 96-First flight September 28, 1988

    A-340-First flight 25 October 1991

  • Wow, nice score 1 for Russia. Score like 20 for the US.

  • Is US and Russia in competition over the number of original aircraft? Hmm, what a strange thing to be proud of. Well, I guess when you've been proven wrong any hollow victory will do.

  • The Ilyushin Il-96 is a shortened, long-range, and advanced technology development of Russia's first widebody airliner, the Ilyushin Il-86. It features supercritical wings fitted with winglets, a glass cockpit, and a fly-by-wire control system. It was first flown in 1988 and certified in 1992(This is copy and paste from Wikipedia)

  • My airline has a few of these, and it's exelent, rolles the money in. Does the EGCC-UUEE (4 hours), with tonnes more fuel, and the cargo hold carries almost half of what the An-124 holds, it's exelent.

  • I hate russian planes. They copy original American and European aircraft like this one. The IL-96 is a copy of the airbus a340. Can't they make their own aircraft that actually are good too?

  • Shut the fuck up.

  • Up fuck the shut bitch.

  • I'll have you know that the Il-96 it an upgraded version of the Il-86 and that was around before the A340! So stop bullshiting. Is the An-124 and copy, is the An-225 a copy? The only russian aircraft that looks like a copy is the Tu-204 (757). And i'm British, not that that has anything to do with it.

  • What about the TU-154? Looks alot like a boeing 727 that was previously made. What about the IL-62? Looks heavily like a vickers VC-10. And even their space shuttle. They even said they "borrowed" alot from the US space shuttle. They don't know how to create their own planes. Only shitty ones made from scrap metal.

  • Yu-154 looks nothing like the 727, if you actualy look at it, it is smaller and a totaly differeent shape, the Tu-154 was introdused 9 YEARS after the 727 and the Il-62 was IN SERVICE on the SAME YEAR of the Vc-10's FIRST FLIGHT...and at the end of the day does it realy matter what they look like? And they are not scrap metal, if they were they wouln't fly.

  • What about AN-124,AN-225? They are copy of what?!

  • AN-124 is similar to the american C5-galaxy. So is the AN-225. All the Russians did to the 225 is make a larger version C5 galaxy body with 3 engines.

  • have you seen both or at least one of them?:)) f-16 is more to be a copy of mig-21 than that:)

  • You need to just stop talking. If there are similarities in SOME of the plane models it's because there's only that many ways to make an airplane.

The IL-96 had its first flight 3 years BEFORE the A340. Not to mention that it's modern, and has NO accidents in its whole 20 year history. Scrap metal? Sure buddy.

So how did the russians copy the airbus? They must have a time machine stashed away somewhere, huh?

  • Many ways to make an airplane. Russia just too damn lazy to make any different ones. And wow.....score one point for Russia for making some plane before Europeans. And score how many for boeing and airbus?

  • The reason why Russian airliners are far away from Western is they were 95% considered to military technology. But after 90's things changed and now Russian aviation is looking for something profitable business.

  • Whoever marks my comments bad fuck you. You know I'm right about this. Faggots.

  • Oh and they are also similar to the c-141 starlifter =)

  • I think you don't know aviation engineering. TU-154 is much different from B727. At least look at the landing wheels. At least you can count how many are in Tupolev. You know? All aircrafts are have similar shape...

  • You idiot. The tupolev does look like a 727 but it ain't the actual down to the base same look alike durrrrr. Quote from wikipedia: Similar to the boeing 727 (TU-154)

  • Poor guy just looking to wikipedia? Anyone can sign in and write in wikipedia? Have you ever seen the technical details about B727 and Tu-154??? IF not I recommend you to read carefully. Tu-154 is bigger then B727 and has higher MTOW. Read and learn looooooooooooseeeer....

  • Shut the fuck up you bitch don't you know about the airliners??? read the technical details and let's see if you can find something same with A340-300. Loooooooseeeer

  • Maybe if they lengthen the wings a bit, maybe it would be more fuel efficient. It would be less than a short range rocket and more of a long range glider type of deal.

  • Sorry people. I was really tired when I wrote this.

They should stick curved winglets on the IL-86 and IL-96, that would help the fuel economy at least a little bit.

  • Very safe plane. It did not have an incident with fatalities since it was first flown around '90.

  • I've seen it on youtube but I'm not sure if the video is recent. They all banned now.

  • Are you thinkinf of the IL-62? That's a very noisy and polluting aircraft, and I wouldn't be surprised if it is banned. But the IL-96 is a relatively modern plane, plus they're still available to buy. I doubt they'd be banned at all.

  • read the entire discussion - look like they are NOT BANNED but they have short range so they simply can't make a flight Moscow - New York without a stop for refueling. So, looks like it's a gas gazzler.

And if you know anything about baggage container loading system then I can tell you this aircraft unfortunately has non-standard loading system. I don't understand why they did that :( IL-86 has everything by world standard. But the IL-96s suck on container loading.

  • You are right. The longest route from Moscow on IL-96 is to Bangkok and Seoul. But they refuel once on the way.

  • Moscow - Bangkok about 7100 km

Moscow - Seoul about 6700 km

    IL-96 has range 11,000 km (5,939 nmi)

    Why they should refuel?

  • It depends on load and wind direction. If the aircraft is full and flying across the wind which usually flow from north to south, they loose speed. That's why they refuel once mainly on the flight back to SVO

  • It's not a gas guzzler just because it can't carry enough fuel, you idiot. It can be the most efficient plane in the world, but if the tanks aren't large enough, then it's not making it to NY.

  • why the fuck you are calling me idiot?

People write their opinions and arguing.

So who are you, asshole, to judge me?

    go fuck yourself

  • Saying "They are banned" is not expressing your opinion. It's spreading misinformation because you are too lazy to look up the facts.

Same thing for saying that it's a gas guzzler when you have no idea about its original design and fuel tank size.

  • saying "you are an idiot" is not a good manner first of all, at least I was polite

  • They are not banned. Couple of weeks ago IL-96 was landed in Sydney. Is this called banned aircraft?

  • please read all comments, this was already concluded that 96s are not banned and I agreed :-)

  • TonyFirelli,

This type of aircraft does not serve new york - moscow route. Soviet airliners are banned in the US and countries of Europe due to excessive noise.

  • No there is an IL-96-400 of Cuban AIr which serve Paris-Orly

  • That's an IL96-300

  • @turbaudid You mean Cubana?

  • But this doesn't apply to Il-96, Tu-204/214 as also to Yak-42, for example. Because they have turbofan engines and hence don't produce such noise as older jet engines (those of Tu-134, Tu-154, Il-86 - actually noisy and banned aircrafts).

The reason for Il-96 not flying NY-Moscow is much more simple: this aircraft cannot take enough fuel to fly such distance. More exactly, it can fly there, but only if you remove almost all passengers and place there extra fuel :)

  • Ok.

But IL-96 really sucks then since it has to short range. Another gas gazzler. And the baggege container system on this aircraft is non-standard. Some type-1 or type-2, they made up a different stupid standard and waste space in lower desk. Standard AKE cannot be loaded on this aircraft unlike IL-86. And I'm not sure but I heard IL-96 do not have lower desk powered loading system - everything has to be pushed. Lavrov came on IL-96 to New York 2 months ago for UN assembly.

  • It has range 11000km, it consumes 3 liters less fuel than the 747 per km.

  • You're wrong some of the Il-96's have western engines and plus this aircraft never been banned anywhere in the world. Maybe they are not sufficient for flights to USA but they fly to Europe. If you don't believe check this...

  • check what?

  • This one has 'Aviadvigatel PS90a' engines as written on them from jsc 'Perm motors' from Perm, Russia:)

  • Sometimes Il-96 serves on route SVO-LHR

  • nice vid

  • I will fly on this airline and this aircraft pretty soon from new york to moscow (but i really live in chicago)

  • I thought Aeroflot used 767s on the JFK route?

  • Maybe they did.

  • Il-96 does not fly to New York

  • They used to sometimes

  • Excellent Video!

  • It is very modern russian plane.

  • WOW! Excellent video! Good work! But what airline is this?

  • Aeroflot

  • Ah, new colors!

  • It was on Aeroflot flight but from where to where?

  • great video. ilyushin 96, nice aircraft.

  • Yay Aeroflot and IL-96 one of the best combos evurrrrrr

  • Yeah like it alot, i think best after Sukhoi super jet 100.

  • this aircraft is very beautiful, but about the overhead storage, now thats quite n issue

  • nice plane
