  • Then there was the first Halloween slasher movie and Jaws - scared the shit out of everybody!! hehe

  • Between this and the Rocky Horror Picture Show and "Sweet Transvestite" - this was dangerous and edgy stuff especially compared to the watered down vampire stuff you see today for teens. All you saw on school notebooks was drawings of motorcycles with skeletons - preGaga. Then there was Jodie Foster and the Little Girl that Lived Down the Lane and then Foxes several years later - it was a great time to be a teen.

  • this is my FAVORITE SONG!!!!!!

  • One word.... Fantastic

  • The first time I ever heard this song (I was, like, five), the intro freaked me out. xD But now it's one of my favorite Meat Loaf songs

  • what is all the bs about the intro that is what makes meatloaf music so great. Nothing is ever the same old same old. lways something new. Dont like it go somewhere else. thank you for this video

  • This is my favorite Meat Loaf song. Thank God my dad raised me on the 70's 80's and not 90. There were great songs in the 90's. But 70's 80's were 2 great Decade for Music.

  • hi

  • @extinctforyoursins the first time you hear it its ok but to hear that everytime you hear the song is tedious and annoying

  • skip to 0.45 where the real song starts

  • @MrMattloney You're missing the point, then, dummy. The intro is brilliant.

  • the world is full of vampires.explanation over.lol.

  • ~ I really, really want to know the meaning behind this song. ^^

  • Meatloaf's music will be with us forever, it just keeps sounding better every time I hear it.

  • To the moron MrTiannaRawr, Meatloaf always portrayed a theatrical approach, followed by solid rock and roll. learn it, love it...I grew up with it years ago and goddamn, it stays. Please learn young one.

  • i bet you say that to all the boys ; )

  • How many of you remember when meatloaf became big? I am thirty and I can remember when I first heard this song. I was eight.

  • gosh this song is so old <3 i love Meatloaf<3

  • Bat Out of Hell the FIRST cd i EVERRRR had and still one of my favorites

  • Jim Steinam wrote ALL Meat's Lyrics... they are a team as Lennon and McCartney or Elton and Taupin

  • Not many people know this but the intro was done by Jim Steinman... not Meat Loaf

  • And most of you did not know that the lady of the band was married to Robbie Benson. ( and you will say :WHO?? google it) And yes, if you hear it without the intro..just not the same. And most of you do not know that Meatloaf was in Rocky Horror Picture Show. As Eddie.

  • @baxbaxtersmaster More of us know these tidbits than you think

Robbie Benson (The legend of Billy Joe mcAlistar)

and Meatloaf rocked in Rocky Horror as Eddie the experiment that frankenstein got wrong.

  • @justinsayne39

Actually, Eddie was the delivery boy~!

Frank stole half of his brain and gave it to Rocky. XD

  • This song is a lyrical masterpiece. Great line after great line, making one of the best ever rock love songs.

  • @ MrsHale101

It's the best song there is.

  • she was a good girl meat hope you meet her again

  • LONG LIVE MEATLOAF!

  • the album cover that spawned a million tattoo's...!!

  • This is still my favorite Meatloaf song. JUST LOVE IT!!

  • play the intro backwards its really fucked up

  • I fucking love this song!

  • For some reason, listening to Meatloaf and doing a grammar assignment for uni go hand in hand... it helps!

  • May I recommend the book 'An Essential Guide To Music In The 1970s' by Johnny Zero. The author is a big fan of this track.

  • on a hot summer night would you offer your heart to the wolf with the red roses?

    Yes

I bet you say that to all the boys LOL! :D

  • My bat out of hell cassette broke from overuse

  • Got this album in all formats.......still play it at times since I bought the vinyl in the late 70's.......superb. Thanks for posting.

  • Actually no, what i said was right, the beginning is the intro which isn't music, it's a poem which isn't even recited by meatloaf..

  • Amazing album......love it! My siblings introduced me to Meatloaf, then we have introduced it to my children(B-14, G-12). They love it as well.

  • wtf is with the intro?

  • @MrTiannaRawr The intro is the original way the song was made, and trust me: If you grew up with this song, you would not give the intro away for anything. It's a part of the complete song

  • @TQKanstrup i did grow up listening to this song buds..... i was just saying the intro sounds weird, nbd.

  • @MrTiannaRawr Then I might have misunderstood what you tried to say. I think the intro sounds weird to you because of the voice actors, the song have been made a few times with different actors in the start ;)

  • @TQKanstrup yeah i guess, i loeve the song i was just saying the intro was odd lol

  • @TQKanstrup no it hasnt..its jim steinman just like it always was

  • @oneweirdfellah exactly...different actors ? people think they can type anything and it will fly? ignorance is bliss 2 funny. i usually try to type a run on sentence or mispell words on purpose...gives the peanut gallery a reason to ridicule me...not easy knowing what fuckin time it is, always! peace out to all those old enough to know what time it is and young enough not to be shitting in their pants or dress for that matter! then again, i'm not quite sure you can shit in a dress? lol. i'm hi

  • @TQKanstrup the only way i can sing along is if the intro (full) is there, makes the song sooo much better!

  • @TQKanstrup I bet you say that to all the boys

  • @dontknowist Oh I said that to all the girls as well ;)

  • @dontknowist Yeah Billy Jo

  • @TQKanstrup too true the intro is the way! one of my all time fav songs!

  • @TQKanstrup Agreed intro is a must as it should be played it kinda makes more sense when you listen to the whole original album ...

many a happy hour after school with this album played on my old Binatone record player whilst trying to do homework ..them were the days :O)

  • @TQKanstrup Im 23 now but when i was like idk 5-8 Yrs old this song was my shit. My pops had the cd and you took the words right outta my mouth the song would be nothing witout the intro

  • @TQKanstrup Fuckin A

  • @TQKanstrup like trying to explain to a 150 pound 12 year old standing 5 foot tall he or she is to fat and should curb their eating ...your talkin to a wall. waste your time voting or something...you will get further with politics, than trying to explain to a kid why the intro is important or anything with music, decades b4 he/she was born. hope u r happy we have both wasted are time typing for no reason, just enjoy the music. ps-its funny how meatloaf sounds good on all players/great recording

  • @cholulasaucehot1 But some of us waste our time using correct spelling and grammar.

  • @TQKanstrup You took the words right out of my mouth ^^

  • @MrTiannaRawr Yes that is the intro. They also did it in their live shows.

  • @MrTiannaRawr young fucker

  • @oneweirdfellah old fart.

  • MOM ... THE MEATLOAF..........FUCK

  • not sure if it was the best song but the greatest album ever made...

  • You indedcisive woman just say yes for fucks sake! Meatloaf is growing impatient with you.

  • 0:49 is where the music starts.

  • @AntiRedSon thanks

  • @AntiRedSon

0:00 is where the music starts.

0:49 is where the instruments kick in.

Read it right..............or don't read it at all.

    Your choice.

  • beautiful!

  • I just love Jim Steinman's delivery of the lines at the beginning of the song. So over the top but perfect.

  • YES, NOW STFU AND LET ME SING!

  • i despise rock opera but there's always exceptions... and this is one of them.

  • @narred Rock Opera? This song?

  • @QuikVidGuy yup every bat out of hell song is rock opera.

  • awsome song ^^

  • Chit am I really 46 cause i feel 19

  • I think its funny that he likens himself to a whale out of water instead of a leaf

  • @imark100 Funny, I thought he said 'whale' for the longest time too. XP It's actually 'wave'.

  • awesome, makes me feel 18 again and with my high school sweetheart,in a parked car

  • @SilverBlood132 the same

  • If you were in your mid to late teens when this song came out, you were, truly, blessed. Your first love. What a rush! Paradise by the dashboard light, to be sure, as you took the words right out of my mouth, I was just about to say I love you.

  • Awesome song. I enjoy listening to this before bed. :) I sleep like a baby. :P

  • I've know every lyric from this album since I was like 10! Didn't even know what it all meant back then.

  • @jake141000

5 people don't get it then.

  • I was born in 1991 and all I listen to is 70's and 80's music.

  • sie

  • mum says 1 of the best songs meatloaf done thumbs up if u agree

  • @MrsHale101 my mum still sings at the top of her lungs to this

  • This is the reason i love old music...the FEELING behind it

  • FUCK MEAT LOAF IS AWESOME

  • @RokketLawnChair

dude did you just say you humped meatloaf and is awesome....hahah

  • Rock n Roll was at its pinnacle with groups like MeatLoaf, Foreigner, and a few others.

Like anything else it has degenerated just like todays country doesn't compare to Bocephus, Alabama, and such.

  • i wonder how many ppl even get the joke at the start of this song?

  • Wot. I'm 14 years old and I love Meat Loaf, dunno what music has come to these days to be honest. It should have feeling and meaning, it's far too perfect.

  • huge case of nostalgia goggles here...

  • @breathesomething so many i cant count omfg

  • The 50's had Elvis Presley, the 60's had The Beatles, the 70's had Meat Loaf, the 80's had Michael Jackson, the 90's had Oasis, and what do we get in the present, auto-tune crap like Kesha.

  • I bet you say that to all the boys...

  • I have come to the conclusion that I can't look up a good song without seeing some kind of comment complaining about how today's music sucks.

  • im 20 years old and my mom and aunt made sure that i knew who meatloaf was and knew all his songs. all i have to say is thanks mom and aunnie, i love his music!!!

  • HAVE A LISTEN TO DAVE LENNARD IF YOU GET A CHANCE GREAT NEW LIVE PERFORMER!

  • I bet you say that to all the boys!!!!!

  • my fav. tune from Meat Loaf...and I think she did take the words right outa my mouth...hmm

  • I love it,makes u think of a memory that most people have.Just brilliant.there will never be another song of this kind of caliber

  • John Lennon is said to have met Stalin in the Kremlin and was tongue-tied when he met the great dictator. Stalin said: "Who the fook are you? A recording engineer? Speak or piss off." Lennon spoke: "I am honoured to be in your presence. I also admire Chairman Mao." Stalin chuckled and said: "Tell that fat Chink to go fook himself, and you, when you see him!"----Memories, by Koko Ono

  • @BrokenneckYgor Stalin never met Lennon and was long dead by then but it was a great story anyways!

  • meatloaf more like beef cake

  • One particular beat in this song is the same as We Belong by Pat Benatar. Anyone else agree?

  • I write song called Congo Joe and Long-neck Sally at same time and this song. People like big fat Meat Loaf and not my soul songs. "Congo Bill and Lon g Neck Sally, they gets together a humpin in de alley, everyhbody sayus, thats my pally"

  • Trully spoken Jpipooly. So called 'artists' today could not lace the boots of the lirical geniouses of the past

  • Classic great song!!! Nothing like it being written or performed today!!!!

  • You can't beat THE MEAT!!!

  • @d2xun76 but i bet you do

  • this song brings back memories of the good times of my life

  • MEATLOAF... IF YOU HAVE A HEART.. ONLY YOU WILL UNDERSTAND :)

  • This album is the absolute greatest slaughterer of depression to ever exist.

  • What the hell is wrong with you parents :P You're obviously doing something wrong, my children LOVE all the greats from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Just gotta play the songs and next thing you know they'll be listening and telling their Justin Bieber loving friends to gag on it LOL! My daughter went to school and instructed the teacher that Joe Satriani was one of the greatest guitarists of all time LMFAO! My work here is done! :P

  • This song is AWESOME

  • "I bet you say that to all the boys"

I wore out 2 vinyls of "Bat Out Of Hell" which was one of the best albums come out in 1978 which had some very good company.....Nice to hear the full intro here!

  • I think it's all complete twaddle (especially the first bit) but, hey, it's GREAT twaddle and isn't that was rock 'n' roll is all about!??

  • thank you jpipooly. I agree 100%

  • Meat Loaf was MUCH COOLER IN THE 90s!!!

  • It really is one amazing song. Gets under your skin and grabs you somewhere you can't even place it properly - somewhere between your soul and heart....it's the damndest thing...

  • @Jpopooly, yeah, you did kind of get screwed. You'll always have Justin Guarini.

  • will she offer me her booty

  • @russellrosario Ahhaha nice lol

  • AGAIN! WILL HE OFFER ME HIS HUNGER

    Yesssssssssssssssssssssss

  • @wolfwithredroses YES !!!!!!!!!!!

  • It's Meatloaf and ...ELLEN FOLEY.

  • Wild, great song, theatrical, wonderfull, great music..and one of the best album covers of all times !!!!!!!

  • Wild, great song, theatrical, wonderfull, great music..

  • On a Hot summer Night, would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses.. :P x

    quote from my childhood XD

  • I love the era in which I grew up...70-80"s music was greatness!!

  • I bet you say that to all the boys

  • (y) UP!!

  • i just seen him in concert yesterday he so amayzing

  • Bloody hell, was it Bonnie Tyler in this song?

  • @RocketDogMan No. Ellen Foley. There are videos of this song that have Karla DeVito lip-synching to Ellen Foley's vocals. Another by eaglerocktv has Karla and Meat singing live at Rockpalast in 1978. As I type this thie video is 13th from the top on right sidebar.

  • THis is how god sings

  • On a Hot Summer Night......,

  • god sang

  • incredible powerfull voice love meatloaf fantastic stuff

  • Grate song brings back memories and grate times.

  • @MrDeCorey that's what the cheese said.

    buh dun tss.

  • You know what makes me sad when i have kids i wont be able to honestly say during my life there where any legends! Kesha lil'wayne LADY F'IN GAGA are all as expendable as a trash bag the 70's and 80's were the age of legends!

  • @Jpipooly hehehe, tis funny but it's true :)

  • @Scottyk1 yea

  • @Jpipooly hahah, thats so true!

  • @Jpipooly we got muse and prolly one or two others but i cant think of them right now

  • @Jpipooly you took the words right out of my mouth!

  • @Jpipooly 1st of all, there obviously werent any bad artists in the 70's/80's, and everyone that made music was legendary.....or we just listen to what was good, there was still shitty yet catchy pop music (of a different style albeit) in the 70's/80's

2nd of all, comparing meat loaf to such artists is absolutely daft, wrong genres to begin with

finally, there are plenty of artists today that have a lot of potential to go down as legendary
