  • If you make your upcoming videos in 720p or 1080p its gone be awsome atleast make it 500p like that . I like your videos very much it is a good explanation for the batminton smash .

  • where the hell is the jump ur not 10 years old anymore

  • Thanks Brian, that is the best smash explaination I have found yet on youtube.

    I will try it tonight.

  • the smash timing should be at 11:30 ...

  • The left hand does not fucking aim. Its there for balance. 149 likes, 102 dislikes says alot... 149 people clearly don't know how to play badminton.

  • @GregsPCs Obviously not you fucking idiot, thats why they watch these videos durrr

  • A true beginner here and thanks for the tips... very helpfull.....

  • wow very bad smash demonstration at the end, he doesnt even transfer his body for more power in the smash...

  • These expertsvillage videos are seriously shit, In Soccer, Badminton and Volleyball!! Damn.

  • The worst footwork ever seen

  • @wanpokhin agreed

watching from professional tournaments would help more

  • Unfortunately there is a lot of misconception surrounding the techniques involved in badminton. I would attribute this to coaches and commentators saying that a power shot involves a wrist action, which isn't technically correct. When someone hears wrist action, they believe that they need to snap their wrist down in order to generate power. This results in less power and deception.

Here's a good video that breaks down the steps in finer detail:

    youtube.com/watch?v=HNVC5PVJyPQ

  • I think this dude...is a poser...hahaha

  • How I smash is pretty simple and I dont know if its right but it works everytime.

I just arc my arm and make my racket really high up so it hit the birdie downward. It's incredibly simple, and it doesn't take a 3 minute video to explain

  • you are teaching incorrect wrist action in this video

  • He is too pro to use pronate and look at how he curve his arm outward for the smash. The smash suppose to be powerful but due to his technique(outward curving, wrong timing, contact point issue) his shot look like a normal drive rather than a smash!!!

This guide should be rename to "Path to arm self destruction or ways to injure ur arm or wrist guide"

    Awesome video :D

  • if you seriously want to learn good technique check out this site (including lessons from peter gade) bestoncourt(d0t)com

  • this is not how you do a smash

  • i was wondering, is this guy even qualified?

  • What's the point in training to smash from the back court? If you smash from there in singles, it's 110% sure you are late from the next ball, if the opponent manages to return it (with those smashes it will be returned, always). I guess i am right, becouse that's the problem i have, becouse when i was younger, my smash was so hard, that nobody near my age wasn't able to return my smashes. And now opponentäs can return my smashes, so my ace is "used"!

  • @Latezk1 smashes are the deadliest shots in the world class level, even if its at the baseline, if an opponent manages to deliver a full smash(not half-smash) it would almost certainly kill

  • @LaserPiratePewPew yes, i know that, of course. i have plaid badminton for 7 years for now, and i have been taught to NOT HIT SMASH FROM THE BACK OF THE COURT, becouse the shuttle will lose very much speed before it crosses the net, so it is too easy to return to the net, and you are always half a second too late = you have lost the point. Just tell me if i am wrong, but then explain HOW i am wrong.

  • boaringggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg

  • Can't wait to beat you so I can show you how INEFFECTIVE your smash video is.

Seriously, where is the angle in your "smash?"

  • Totally gay

  • he sucks.

  • i dont think this video is good, but wrist is actually important to make shuttle go down..since i got shoulder injury, i start to use wrist more, n its work

if theres any other smash technique, without using wrist, can anyone pls upload

  • @ebar86 but the bad things is, it hurt ur wrist early on b4 u get used to it

  • The title should be "How not to play Badminton" ...

  • Hes smashes sucks hes tutorial sucks. Expert village blows

  • Gay !

  • Make a more helpful vid then stop complain ....

  • You hit the shuttle and then move the right leg forward. The hitting hand leg should move forward with the raquet.

  • Most of the shots he has shown were out, I believe hahahaha.... Great techniques for seven-year-old children who have no ideas of what badminton is!

  • expert means pro , not noob ! i can beat him with my eyes close !

  • - If you wanna learn to play badminton get a real coach

  • @canasianboi he was a coach o.O

  • Beginners don't teach....LOL!~

  • freak

  • You are SHIT!!!!!!!

  • expert village is terrible

  • the transfer of weight is not properly done.

I'm sorry but I don't think this is a proper smash.

  • You Suck.

  • where i live the best racquet i can get is a 40 dollar carlton :(

  • "Follow through is very important".

Yeah sure the magic coach can speed up the shuttle even after he hit it...

  • These expertvillage videos suckkkk

  • @shadowsabere xDXD loll

  • im asian but i have to say he talks funny.

  • What muscles should I work out to become better in badminton physically.

  • I think legs for better movement around the court.

  • @DanAndJerrBear

your wrist for smashes and clears

  • this is the most fail badminton video I have ever seen in my life...I am a badminton coach and its sad seeing this

  • bad angle need better wrist movement

  • i can do better than you.....

  • err... dude... you're not even jumping... it helps generate power AND ANGLE.... which you could use a lot of

  • he is a national player??? is smashing is floating

  • F A I L~~~~~

  • expert village? how about Crapvillage or Noobvillage

  • god this guy sucks

  • @clanOT but he seems like hes sponsored by yonex

  • dont think so

  • hes wearing all yonex though

oh maybe not cuz his raquets only a 9000

  • anyone can wear all yonex..

  • @clanOT duh

    but it gets expensivew

    raquets like 200

    and shoes r like 250

    shirts and shorts r 50 2 70

  • just saying, could even be replicas. i mean, apacs racquets and shoes look on video the same as yonex. but anyway if he is a coach then they invest in yonex brands because its worth the money to look professional for respect

  • yor smash is just fast bcause yor an adult

  • a year 7 kid can play way better

  • i am year seven and yh i can!

  • his smash was not really sharp

  • explanation.. sucks.. my grandmother can play better

  • you have a Raket Arc Saber 10? Oo

  • FUCKIN SHITTTTTT

  • agreed.. dumbass doesn't know shit how to smash...

my sister can smash better than that.. and what's with the slow motion..

quit making a monkey of youself

  • Improper pronation of the wrist, no torque of the upper body... fail

  • i can beat this guy man ...

  • how about if left handle...?

  • lol 2:42 was a fail

  • @NGLOUISLOUISNG

he should rename this to "how to play badminton: the Drive shot"

    that was pretty fail IMO

  • 1;20 "toward down the ground" hhaha lol tabs

  • dude you smash floats!!

  • Dude you goona hurt your wirst, that's for the pro people to use it. For beginner, use your forehand grip

  • If your going to teach people how to play, make your smashes consistent rather then 1 smash you dont bring your leg foward and others you do. Also for starting a smash you dont use wrist motion, its your forehand and turning it; you lock your wrist for that. For professionals then use pronation and fliock their wrist but youll prolly never get that pro to use it neways

  • I love playing badminton, but I find when I'm playing people they do a smash and I can never swing my arm round quick enough so I can do an under-arm return :(

  • me 2 =.=

  • are you aamir ghaffer

  • on your channel you were 25 in 2008 [lol] but you're okay for a 15 toichivah dude.

  • last smash=fail.

    haha.

  • make ur english flow good first lol. But good. i like

  • it depends which way the clock is facing. The way his body was facing 1 o'clock would be correct

  • slomo looks cool,

but im still trying to find a way to get more kph on my smash... just how do the experts do it...

hehe, slomo also opens u up for criticism... dnt know nga lang if teacher is doing it right, but it looks ok...

though i knda disagree with gammaray4ever.. height is a factor, even in badminton.

ive played against a 6ftr, and he can reach shots and angle it in ways other 5 ftrs would have either lobbed high or dived chasing...

    yep yep

  • you want to have a strong atack ? buy a squash racket make like 15 smashes with her that with your normal raquet like 5 times for training GL make some Gym too it helps

  • I remember my coach stressing all the time that the power of your shots depend on wrist action. Surprisingly, it does depend on your wrist. My wrists are not flexible enough to do a really powerful one, so I just use my lower arm sometimes xD

  • Dont listen to the video, you dont use your wrist to start out, use your forehand by locking your wirst and youll develop from there

  • Actually, I read this commend last week and did, stiffin my wrist, it gives me more power at the best angle :D

  • @ShitMovies2000 in bdmn a soft wrist is necessary for repulsion

  • @blazemxee but if u dont use ur wrist, how is the shutter going to go down?

  • @RaV3 Because yu turn your body, if yu didnt know, there is actually no muscle in yur wrist, if yu can find some, ill pay yu Lol. When yu hit the bidy yur body isnt straight. This video cant teach for shit. If yu actually want to learn, go to a community centre and ask around better people.

  • @blazemxee OMG finally someone who actually mentions the forearm!! I'm so tired of hearing people harping on about using the wrist and it being the source of power! How much power can the wrist motion provide? Just flick it yourself and see! People don't realise they are actually using their forearm with a locked wrist when they play! And then they advise less experienced players to focus on the wrist!

Forearm + locked wrist FTW!!! :D

  • @blazemxee dude iam confused on how to hold a bandminton racket

  • @karansena Im sorry but its kinda complicated to explain how to exactly hold it. but the side edge of the racket is facing upwards and the strings are facing sideways. ask around for ppl who know how and see if they can help you. hope this helps :S

  • @blazemxee i suggest not locking ur wrist or else u'll injure ur shoulder trying to make the shot steeper, or maybe your wrist cause some might not be strong enough :D

  • @LaserPiratePewPew if you use your wrist your damage it more. if you know how to swing properly, you wont ruin your shoulder

  • @blazemxee

The essence of using wrist is indeed correct and proper.

  • @canadiantisdale Obv but you dont teach someone right off the bat using your wrist becuase thats how people injure their wrist because they dont know how to swing properly.

  • @blazemxee then make a video yourself

  • Your foot position is wrong during smashing ..

  • bwahaha, your observation is so correct. talk about teacher...

  • Check my latest video please, im in red do i have a chance of making the national team? im 15

  • Basically in badminton when doing a smash shot u just want it to just reach over the net not too high as this will make it harder for the person to return the shot as it is lower.

  • his smashes are abit off~

    but not bad~

  • ok ge 但係冇中文...

  • last shot was shit, too high, im pretty gd at smashes, i keep them low (just over the net) and angled short and down the line. winner everytime.

  • it really doesnt

  • its easy to smash when have the right time, angle and power... I prefer to jump even a bit so that the shuttle would land properly..

  • i completely agree with u

  • lol

  • oh too impressed for smack like tht.i also wish for a ppl to teach me.i smack like a kid

  • lol

  • holy fuck that slow motion makes him look like a jiggling blob. Maybe you shouldn't teach you're crappy angled smashes...

  • LOL Few of his smashes actually failed, the angle is so bad that it looks like a drive more than a smash XD

  • i jst started playing badminton~

to me his smash is @.@

perhaps his height is lower than the net, so he cant do it downward smash? =\

i mostly see ppl jump when they smash, izzit?

  • Your height doesnt matter in badminton

  • the speed sucks !

  • lawl this guy;s smash is so fail speed.

  • agreed...

  • I see...It's easy to understand. I'll try it :D

  • bry ikaw na??nthan ni hahahahaa

  • I can't sumash.

    I want to be strong.

    Thank you so much.

  • smashing is more of timing than strength.

  • @samuellorocks its wristwrok and posture more tan timing

good wristwork and posture and knowledge of how to do it

would let u get it newhere

strength makes it harder to return

  • Jumping as you smash gives you more downward angle. Harder to return. also, The angle you twist your wrist down towards whilst smashing will give you extreme angled smashes which are almost impossible to return.

  • man noob zzzz

  • LOL, that looked like a drive.... is that nanospeed 9000 he's holding?

  • Eh wen i smash i dont jump mostly is it ok??

  • yea its normal.. jump smash is more of an advanced technique

  • oh....thx

  • i smash using the top part not the 'sweet' part izzit ok?

  • It also depends on your speed ,strength and your racket

  • if he played in us n phil . GEEZ I WONDER if they will win anything positions . HE is FAT and UGLY

  • Is this the "How to Smash for retarded badminton players guide?"

First of all the point of contact isn't 1 o' clock but rather 12 o' clock

Power is from turning your upper body in most cases.

  • if you hit the shuttle at 12 0' clock....why does the shuttle then go down?? and not straghit...you hit it at about 1 o'clock

2nd ly the power comes from the arm, the rotation of the body and also from the legs (jumpsmash)...but the most important is the timing and the technique...

to the guy in the video... your technique isn't that good :-P and most important...you are not doing any rotation in your body...if you would do so your smash would be much more powerful..

  • gravity?

  • no actually i would have to agre with bay colony. Most the time yes we do hit 1 o clock but the wrist is suppose to support the smash when hitting at 12. The jump helps the twist of the body which also accounts for extra power. But then again this is only for when u couldnt reach the birdie in time for the 1 o clock position.

  • nope , 1 o clock is fine the shuttle needs to be infront of u for a powerful smash

  • Yep, you'd only hit at 12 if you couldn't get behind it fast enough :).

  • Don't be ridiculous. A powerful smash REQUIRES wrist action.

Not that I'm rooting for the guy; his technique isn't that great. =.=

  • dude are u kidding me thats what makes the smash powerful otherwise u wud have to put ur whole boddy downwards in the samesh

  • yeah but when u use ur full body motion to bring out the power its the snap of the wrist to give the angle to the shuttle. both of u are right =]

  • a strong wrist action results in the level of power in the smash .... if both players have the right technique, the one with greater wrist action , will smash hardest ... besides in badminton.. u often get positioned in a way that u cannot use the whole body and still want to deal out a hard smash.. therefore the key in smashes often lies in the wrist action :>

  • This guy is effing terrible...he shouldn't be allowed to teach badminton to anyone let alone be called an expert. If he can't teach himself to smash how the hell does he expect to teach others? I estimate this guy has been playing less than a year and has little to no talent, yet somehow he's making these videos.

This explanation is useless. None of what he says would help someone who doesn't know how to smash improve.

  • since he could have done more takes of his demo, this shite smash is probably the best he can do. he uses too much elbow anyway. and he doesnt talk about racket grip, which is essential

  • ugh, god it's terrible

  • expertvillage also known as upload vids on utube for ads and moneyvillage

  • Female shot !!! In estonian: emane :D
