I dunno if you've done this yet, but it was very easy to put 7 on mine. If you are a student, you can use a website called win741.com (which is a real microsoft website) and get 7x64.pro for $65, and then it's like $5 for a backup dvd.
Runs great. I had a little trouble tracking down a couple of the drivers to begin with, but that has either sorted itself out automatically or I just kept checking now and again. Word to the wise though: if you paid for the Audigy package...
can u boot up from sleep? coz i have problem with that, there's windows error recovery screen appear and it says that it doesn't shut down properly...
Yes, you can spec it up higher than that, but with a only a 8600m GT, it will be hard to run games at that resolution. I dont have this laptop anymore, ive upgraded to a desktop.
omg is was actually scared about windows 7 im a owner of the xps m1530 my questions are already tried gaming??? and wut about ram eating i have dell vista 32-bit ok my ram spend amount on vista (with msconfig tweaks) boot up 1 gb (1 second after boot up) stabilized 630-680 mb (20-30 sec after boot up) after crysis 390-430 mb (but it goes up to 600 after 10 minutes) and wut about drivers???
Yup, games work fine. So far I have tried - assassins creed, crysis, call of duty world and war, call of duty 4, GTR2, bioshock. All work about the same as when I had vista.
It uses less RAM that Vista, search on google, im not sure how much less it uses.
everything is working fine. I even installed it on my main computer as my primary OS. Windows 7 heavily based on Vista so I would imagin most programs that worked with vista should be ok on windows 7

Why did you sell this laptop? I'm about to buy it actually and it has the same specs as yours, cept for 3gb ddr3 ram and led screen.
What problems have you had with it that made you want to sell? I'm not very sure if I should get it. Thanks a lot.

No problems at all with it. It just sat on my desk 99% of the time, so I sold it and brought a more powerfull desktop for the same money.

Since you changed from vista, are your old applications, games, etc. running fine or are you experiencing any crashes/lag?
