i did it and my whole startbar and icons where totally gone.

thank god i knew how to fix it.

if it happens to you do the following:

press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and click new task. then you type explorer.exe. and then you see your documents. but that's not all. when you are in your documents, go to search and type 'regedit' then you go to the file where you changed the start text. and type start again. click on save and restart your computer and everything is back!

You don't need to download anything to change the text in your start button, he's just trying to get you to download his "Backup software". Which is most likely a form of spyware, or malware. Screw with your OS at your own peril, if you don't know the script one mistake can damage your entire system.

yes, if you want to go back to normal, like how it was originaly. you would have to go back into the registry editor and put explorer.exe back where it origally was. and thats all there is to it.

you would have to do the regedit part again, because by doing the regedit thing, its telling the computer to start the explorerfor.exe file as if it were default. so the answer is yes, if you want to re edit it back to normal or whatever you would have to do the regedit thing again.

yah if you do it right...but if you don't have experience changing something in a program the best thing to do is to save the original file...the start file...but if you have a tendency of screwing up then don't do it
