  • Hop Sing is pretty cool. I'm glad to see a tribute on YouTube :)

  • Thanks for Posting! Wife was diggin' it without a Buzz!

  • love this

  • What an unexpected treat. Very clever.....great job!

  • Wikipedia is wrong and so are you! I have the cd. Just you tube the song. You'll find out for yourself who it is!

  • @joshanator1 You're a sad, sad little troll, aren't you?

  • @joshanator1 your retarded lmfao it's Toby Keith

  • @joshanator1 Actually I have the cd... dumbass... and its toby keith..

  • that's NOT Toby Keith jackass! That's Trace Atkins!

  • @joshanator1 Thank you for this stereotypical inflammatory YouTube comment. It encouraged me to look this song up on Wikipedia. To my great surprise and horror, Wikipedia agrees with me that it's Toby Keith.

  • @joshanator1 That IS Toby Keith singing fool!

  • Bonanza..what a legend...Ben(Pa),Adam,Hoss ,Little Joe and Hopsing all gone now...God rest their souls....

  • Hop Sing would not have been such a misunderstood character if the writers of Bonanza had not given him such a stupid-sounding un-Chinese name! He should open a can of kung-fu on yo' butts!

  • Awesome video!!!Could I ask what episode is at 1:11?

  • Great job! Loved it.

  • Brilliant!!! Now, is Hollywood ready for another retro remake of a sixties TV series with a version of Bonanza? New soundtrack by Toby Keith, and a Hop Sing who comes out of the kitchen and kicks a few butts which really need it? I'm sure there is more than one martial arts artist/actor who is up to the challenge. I can just imagine some of the rest of the cast...

  • This was great. The clips were perfectly placed. I love the cli of Hoss at the part about when you start....!

  • This is GREAT!!!!!!

  • you did an excellent job on this video... everything right on cue. 2 thumb`s up !!

  • Aloha Buddie,,,

That is some great work, that is really funny...

    Great work...

  • Great video! Hop Sing is one of the most unused and unappreciated character in Bonanza. That guy had some funny lines and i wished they used him more.

    Wonderfully done!

  • A Man With a Ton of Talent, with to much

time on his hands... Great,,, Just Great...

    Big

  • It's sad, all the originals are gone,, and I don't even count Candy, he wasn't an original.

    Good Video, enjoyed it.

  • This is one of the most thoughtfully assembled videos I've seen. The pictures you chose work perfect with the song and timing is spot on. Good Job!

  • Love it. Hop Sing needs more props than he gets. If he left, the Ponderosa would fall apart in a week.

    Cool song, too.

  • Very nice..Go Hop Sing!

  • this is a friggin fantastic video! two of my favorite things put together! keep up the good work! and also thanks for posting. it's getting 5/5

  • Fantastic editing.

  • They sure don't make em like Bonanza anymore. Instead we have a bunch of crappolla that you wouldn't want your kids to watch.

Bring back Bonanza, Gunsmoke, The Big Valley, and all of those great B Westerns. God, I miss the good ole days.

  • The character of Hop Sing was one of the best parts of the classic TV Western "Bonanza". There have never been very many positive Asian characters in the history of TV. Few people know the producers wanted to give Hop Sing his own spin off show. It was going to be a comedy Western wherein ol' Hoppy moves to San Francisco to work at the Wong Brothers Chinese Laundry. It was going to be called "TWO WONGS CAN MAKE It WHITE!".

  • That was SO cute!! You fit the clips to the song perfectly!

  • I never really liked this clip in the beginning and I thought it was funny how someone made one entire video for Hop Sing. But....it's actually grown on me. You did a reallly good job putting the specific clips to the lyrics. It's funny!

  • LOL this is funny

  • This was great very well done

  • That was good. Very cute

  • Very nice! 5/5 stars! The clips went along perfectly with the music!

  • Brovo

  • Brilliant! :D

  • Which episode is the one where Hoss is playing the violin? I really want to see it! ;-D

  • It's called Maestro Hoss

  • Oh yeah, I think I saw that one, bout 3 months ago, I guess. It was the one with that lady selling Hoss the violin, and Hoss played really bad, right?

  • Yup, that's the one! I believe it gets so bad, Joe and Ben actually slept out in the barn to try and escape from the horrible sounds. LOL

  • Oh yeah! LOL. I love the part where Joe and Ben are riding though the woods and discover Hoss playing the violin. They first think it's a mountain lion, then Joe says, "No mountain lion I've ever heard sounds like that." Or somethin' like that. And then they burst out laughing when they see Hoss, screechin' away on his violin!

  • Yeah! Poor Ben and Joe! I felt like turning down the music on my computer because of Hoss' playing but it was just too darn funny!

  • yah, lol. its probably the funniest part of the whole ep! wat do u think?

  • Oh absolutely! Though I loved seeing Joe and Ben sleeping out in the barn. Poor guys! LOL

  • oh yeah, i know! and didn't hop sing threaten to quit (again) when hoss started screeching away with that violin? i thought so.

  • I'm pretty sure he did. LOL Then again I lost track of what episodes he did threaten to quit cause he's threatened to quit so many times!

  • Oh, I know!

"Mr.Cartwright, I quit." (Say it in a funny Chinese accent, and its hilarious!)

  • The TV show cooks NEVER get enough respect.

Here's to Hop Sing, Mr. French, Alice, and Uncle Charley!!

Oh, and Lurch (but I'm not sure he did the cooking).

  • Oh my Gosh! This was so awesome. Poor Hop Sing, he is always shoved to the back behind the Cartwrights, Candy, Griff King, and others. He will always be an awesome cook! I love that song! I always said that it could use a video to back it up. This was perfect. I love Bonanza

  • Awesome and fun!

  • Gosh..this was wonderful! I visited the Ponderosa set in Nevada a few years back. It's ashame is is now closed. These times of TV were the the best times. Thanks for posting this work of video art.

  • I visited the Ponderosa set as well. We were there in 2004. I really wish the man who owns it would open it up again, so that fans of the show could go back. i have been a fan for a while--about 3 years. It is the best show on TV today. This year, 2009, is the 50th anniversary of the show! Yay! :)

  • Very cute. Very nice job.

    Victor Sen Yung rules!

  • oh my GOODNESS!!!! THAT WAS GREAT!!! funniest vid I may have ever seen :D best editing to the song...just wonderful...my colleagues and I have had a extra busy/ hard week...I may just send this to all of them...they can't help but SMILE !!!!!!

  • I really like this vid, it's wonderful!!

  • This is amazing. So creative and a great tribute.

  • SUPER video! Perfect matching of lyrics and clips! Thanks for sharing this, grayias ... A delightful trip down Memory Lane!

  • Cool video. Poor Hop Sing. He was such a great character, but never got much credit. Nice tribute.

  • To ekocentric: The problem today is that people have too many choices. Back then you looked forward to your favorite shows once a week and sat down as a family and watched them. Now you can record or Teevo it and watch it later, no big deal. I find myself doing the same thing, but I still enjoy watching when it airs to know I'm enjoying it with others at the same time.

  • Hop Sing's part was the only wrinkle in this show.

As a minority I know that actors like: Stepnfetchit, Buckwheat, Jay Silverheels, Butterfly McQueen, Hattie McDaniels, and many more had no choice but to play the corny parts that they were given.

If "Hop sing" and these others were that dumb they wouldn't have remembered their lines and get acting jobs when the majority of American's couldn't get their feet in Hollywoodland's doors.

  • Wonderful! The song was a perfect choice and the pics/vids were great to go along with it!!!

  • I love this song, and this video is well done!! People need to listen to music like this!! It's awsome, and thank you for listing this video!!

  • That was great and very well done. Any true Bonanza fan loves Hop Sing as much as the Cartwrights. Thanks for posting.

  • Who was the beautiful white-haired lady at 1:19?

  • She filled in for Hop Sing once - can't think of her name but she helped save Little Joe (at least LJ) from a very short actor, a bad guy...

  • Wow! Really good!! Your videos are soo good. You should start back up with some more Bonanza ones.

  • funny very funny

  • This was a lot of fun to watch!

  • Great Job! I LOVE IT! I too wish television would have stayed to this kind of Love of family. Where there were morals and Love of God and Country. I also agree they could have used Hop Sing much More!!!!

  • I wish I could have stayed in the 60's! Television hasn't been as good since. Thanks for the memories. Patti

  • 60's television was great but you could not just turn on quality shows on command. The best programs were on only at specific times. On saturdays and sundays you only had a few hours to watch.

Too many reruns and commercials and the worse part was at midnight the t.v. execs had the nerve to ask you if you knew where your kids were?? Probably trying to find cable...Lol.

On the same hand we were able to enjoy the technology that some of our ancestors could never have.

  • I love this!!! Thanks for making my morning. That show was awesome.

  • Great to see a video about Hop Sing i loved him he was funny ,cute and a strong character

  • great work i love this!

  • excellent, nice job there brother

    Many thanks

    Little Joe forever

    Lynne

  • Hop Sing is my nick name I've had the nickname since I was 6.

  • Hop Sing is pretty funny. and he really does keep the Cartwrights toghether.

  • Loved it and how nice for someone to recognise Hop Sing's worth. The Cartwrights were terrific, but Hop Sing held them all together, doing all the cooking, cleaning, and the washing and mending of all their ripped and bloodstained clothes LOL

    Little Joe forever

    Lynne

  • I loved that, it was great..I love hop sing, grat job

  • god knows, we gonna talk about ya clothes... LOL! loved that part

  • I love Hopsing! YAY

  • I love Hopsing!LOL

  • great i love hop sing he was more that just the cook ,you showed him as an essentiel part of the family

  • Great video! I just love Hop Sing and the Cartwrights!

  • oh my gosh, this is absolutely AWESOME! I love it, what a great tribute!!!! :)

  • WOW This is absolutely FANTASTIC!! Awesome, super job!

  • Don't you just love the guy!! There could not have been a more perfect house manager for those Cartwright boys. He lights up the scene every time he's on camera.

Fantastic edit job, your Greyness!! Thanks for the hard work.

  • That was brilliant! Where or how do you get the video clips?

  • Well, those are all from an old editing system where I captured off of VHS tapes. I've found a new easier way, either using a DVD recorder or a Tivo.

  • Hysterical! Great Job, Love Hop Sing!

  • Very funny. I was surprised you could find so many different scenes of Hop Sing. This must have took some time. Kudos to you!!!

  • really funny cute video. About time hop sing got some play time
