I've got an 08 R1.... every mechanic has told me Yamaha went backwards with the 09 model R1, meaning less power... but 09's have more torque down low..... whoe the fuck wants a superbike with more torque down low?....I've raced against the 09 before an flog the shit out of it..... not only that, you can't compare the World SBK bikes to road bikes, because they have a totally different motor. I will never buy an 09 model R1... Period!

Im a massive yamaha fan, love R1's. But to most people including myself the 09 R1 is ugly, fat and heavy. The engine sounds the nuts, best sounding bike by far, almost worth buying just for that fact alone, BUT it's still just too ugly. The mods you've made are good, top quality, but its a loosing battle.

My theory is yamaha purposly made it ugly. The next R1 will sound the best, be crazy fast, be lighter AND look good. When they do I will buy it and not upgrade until I kill it.

I own a Yamaha 2008 R6. I am a fan of both models R6/R1. BUT the 2009 Yamaha R1 came in Last place out of all the Japanies bikes, its the heaviest and the list horse power numbers. So when you said bike of the year.

Yamaha FUCKED UP on the new R1!!!!!!!!!!! R6 is the best 600. Too bad Yamaha couldnt get the R1 the same!!!!!!!!1

Hello bro..... i know that engeneers made a great job on these bike and gave the new R1 a best power and smooth delivery......... but i guess they have to work more on what you mention.... the weight..... plus the new R1 has less power than the 2007-2008 and and weights more than does bikes...... Let me tell you I began in the bikes thing because of the previous R1 and personally i hate what they have done in the looks of the new one..and yes i´ve heard the new one and i prefer the old one.

anyways, i bought a raven 09 and i love it for exactly the same reasons you do. and yeah the heat from the exhaust probably lowered my sperm count but that was fixed when i got a leo vince y-pipe,

As some have mentioned, I too am not a real fan of the '09-'10 R1. Without bias being the instigator of these comments, I believe the shape of the '08 and several earlier models are nicer in appearance, and functionality, based on many '09 riders' self confession.

I am the proud owner of a Black '08 R1, which I am very happy with. I do find it interesting to see/hear of many '09+ models being sold prematurely, despite that new sexy engine growl. Overall, the R1 is a gorgeous bike !

I don't like the look of this design. I hate the bug eye look and the wide exhaust tail. But you did make it look better and sleeker with the Yoshi TRC-D slip-on. I love that video of yours. That sounds so incredible with the Yoshi. I'm not a Yamaha hater. I happen to have a 2001 R6 that I love a lot. If I had the money I would have bought a 2004/2006 R1 because hey were the best looking liter bike and still is today in my opinion. I love Yamaha and I want a re-design R1.

This was the best review ever great job man. I own the 2009 r1 and I own a 2007 zx10r and I must say I love my zx10r but it doesn't compare to the ride of the r1. The r1 has better braking and I am not afraid to turn corners on this bike. The r1 feels as if your going slow but your really hauling ass. I love both my bikes out of all the bikes I have had I would rate them as follows the 09 r1, Honda 954, 07 zx10r

guess what.. im not a yamaha hater but the yamaha r1 2009 - 2010 is fuckin ugly!!!

let me point out that yamaha is my favorite motorcycle brand and today they have the 2nd most powerful 1 liter bike out there...

now look at the exhausts design, it looks very ugly compared to previous years (2004-2008) and not to mention the front plastic light covers that they made shorter..

I like the New R1 but listen to each is own. I have the 08 CBR 1000RR and the power to weigh ratio is crazy.The bike is light and tight all over. The looks Im not to crazy about but when you ride the 08 CBR 1000RR its like riding a 600 but with the power of a 1000!! And I have better gas milage with the mean power!! But like I said the R1 is nice and I like the V8 sound but it snot for me. Great Video!!
