I wonder if the bay of pigs and the Cuban missile crises can be useful as a model to parallel this situation. The war against communism was a major ideological war. The stakes were high and the generals were all for intervention, especially in the western hemisphere. First invasion of Cuba was a fiasco that Kennedy latter regretted, but learned from. When we were at a stalemate with Khrushchev during the Cuban missile crises an invasion would have.. well we wouldn't be having this conversation.

I would conclude that WWII was a result of Hitler coming to power as a result of The Treaty of Versailles that created a desperate financial situation for and in Germany. We became involved in WWII in Japan first and then Europe after Germany declared war on the US.

I can understand your position. Sometimes I wonder though if a war is the most productive measure in a conflict. Sometimes we have no choice. Perhaps not a great example, but sometimes when I fight with my wife, even if I know she is wrong, fighting will only make things worse in the future. So having a War, may mobilize, escalate the war. What is the endgame? When will it stop? How can it stop? How can we difine this?
Who are we at war with? Islamic Fanaticism, but how can this be quantified. This is an organization that morphs and changes based on circumstances. It isn't a nation and doesn't have borders. War as we are now generating more of what we are fighting. Do we remain blind to the consequences of our actions. Why must we act without examining our options. Time is a valuable commodity. It seems it is best to use that wisely.

Why should the government legislate private matters, if these matters don't impose limits against others freedoms? A child saying a prier in school seems like the right of the child. I think that right needs protection; however, I believe, if the school is a private institution, prayer would be best not initiated by the institution. This would deny the kids that hold beliefs that are contrary or that pray differently their rites to go to school and learn history, math, etc. Religious studies and organized prayer are best left for Sunday school as I used to attend, or in the home.

Thank you. My concern is about our economy. I see the cost of living going up for all Americans. We all feel it. It is crazy how much it is to buy gas, food and people are losing their homes. I am scared of what we are doing to remedy it. One major issue that Paul and Huckabee differ is on the war. I can understand your position. Sometimes I wonder though if a war is the most productive measure in a conflict. Sometimes we have no choice. Perhaps not a great example, but sometimes when I fight with my wife, even if I know she is wrong, fighting will only make things worse in the future. So having a War, may mobilize, escalate the war. What is the endgame? When will it stop? How can it stop? How can we difine this?

Who are we at war with? Islamic Fanaticism, but how can this be quantified. This is an organization that morphs and changes based on circumstances. It isn't a nation and doesn't have borders. War as we are now generating more of what we are fighting. Do we remain blind to the consequences of our actions. Why must we act without examining our options. Time is a valuable commodity. It seems it is best to use that wisely.

No one wants to be in a position to be a sitting duck, but if we continue and if the energy against us increases are we not then at greater risk of greater and more frequent attacks? If we could say without reservation that our action would stop Islamic terror on our front, we may have a case. But is this really the case? ( negating the 100s of thousand of innocent lives lost or destroyed.) That is also important, don't you think?

Why should the government legislate private matters, if these matters don't impose limits against others freedoms? It is fair for you to have this belief, but I don't think it fair for one's sense of morality( assuming other peoples civil liberties remain intact) should be controlled. I don't mean to lecture Most people don't understand this concept, England forced one religion so our founding fathers' concept of Separation of Church & State was intended to prevent the gov't from forcing an official religion on people. A child saying a prier in school seems like the right of the child. I think that right needs protection; however, I believe, if the school is a private institution, prayer would be best not initiated by the institution. This would deny the kids that hold beliefs that are contrary or that pray differently their rites to go to school and learn history, math, etc. Religious studies and organized prayer are best left for Sunday school as I used to attend, or in the home.

Max, Perhaps the issue that we need to discuss is on is how we are to remedy the problem of military spending and the potential hyperinflation, stagnation, etc. that may result. Now the terrorist methods are horrible, I think all of us will agree, but our investment in trying to solve this issue by extending our energy and lives in the region may not be as fruitful as we may prefer.

Thank you. My concern is about our economy. I see the cost of living going up for all Americans. We all feel it. It is crazy how much it is to buy gas, food and people are losing their homes. I am scared of what we are doing to remedy it. One major issue that Paul and Huckabee differ is on the war. The costs are unbelievable( financial and lives) and I believe that what Paul talks about regarding our expenditures over there will bankrupt us over here.

Fact: Hatred comes from all sides, yours( Hucks) and (Paul's) mine, so don't be the pot calling the kettle black. By the way, do you have a crystal ball. I have no idea how anyone will do in the primaries. I do think your guy will do well in Iowa, but I suspect Ron Paul should do also do well. Paul's views are not mainstream, but allot of people love him. You can't take that away from folks.

I am here on the Huck site to talk with people, like you. Why stay stuck in group think. Perhaps I may read something that changes my mind, but I have to say, I am most impressed with Dr. Paul. I'm sure he has flaws, but I perceive him as an intelligent player who has yours, mine and our countries interest at heart. He's not about the power. But we can call each other names all night and the country will be no better off.

Please explain? Mike Steven Black is my name given to me by my parents. I'm not perfect, but I would rather engage in productive conversation . You have read posts that jab at your candidate, perhaps unfairly. I am earnest about discussing the issues of each person. I am still bias to Ron Paul, but that can be a topic of future discussion, perhaps not.
