  • @kaikkula Artists usually perform each song twice on Later. They showed the alternative recording on Fridays extended show. The only difference being the backing singers wore the black capes that are hung on their mic stands here.

  • Did they play this twice on Jools? Cause I think I saw another version where they had same clothes etc..

  • 1:20 whyyyy are they staring at each other?

  • This is my 2012 war song.....boss

  • i listen to this song daily. damn man is it good.

  • @snugglebear97653 im already back for seconds. geeze.

  • I meant expansive not expensive in my lady post

  • @pragmatic did you mean last in your last post as well? hahah =]

  • Her band is huge and she even gets her own backup singers! she's done so well for herself it's awesome.

I really love the lush instrumentation. it's big, expensive, rugged and beautiful not a far cry from the nature landscape that was the inspiration for this track and her latest album

  • thumbs up for the hot lesbian back up singers :3

  • Mountain Man...Girls...whatever

  • FUCK. That was amazing. I'm raping the replay button.

  • This album is fantastic, I think a lot of people this day and age don't understand as people get older their minds change, they evolve along with their musical thoughts and abilities. Not everyone is Blink 182 their whole lives. I think this album shows her growth as a musician and it is catchy and unique. What more could you ask for?

  • @Stephencashcabrera Hell, even Blink-182 evolved their own sound as they got older!

  • i find it weird people think this album is disappointing for feist. to me it's her most exceptional work. every song has its own appeals.

  • What happened to the lovely uncomplicated young girl who wowed us with the likes of 1234, Secret Heart, Gatekeeper, etc?

I have all her albums, even this one, Metals (2011). Feist is no doubt an exceptional talent. But I was completely disappointed with her release of Metals (2011), which this video represents.

I mean I didn’t like even one song on the album.

Does anyone else feel this way?

  • @wolfeatworld no disputing taste...but let your artists grow up, they need to.

  • @wolfeatworld

I felt that way upon first listen, but as you listen to it more it grows and makes sense.

  • ART

  • mnnnnn :) wonderful music :)

  • Drop the back up singers, Feist! You are a goddess, you don't need them!

  • Anybody know what kind of guitar feist is using? And also what kind of pickups

  • @ItsLoise Hi. I reckon its an old sixties Hofner. No idea about the pickup though.

  • someone explain to me the starin' while singing...dykes in love....mmmm....

  • I love her

  • you people-who are so preoccupied with the ladies of Mountain man being lesbian are so silly. I know one of them(Amelia) and she isn't even a lesbian. So there you go. It shouldn't matter anyways how a musician identifies themselves. They're playing awesome music.

  • @asyadubr1 Actually..i saw yr comment,,and ,,wow,,David Bowie,,Madeleine Peyroux..etc....you are so right..

  • Nice. Supporting vocals by the gals of Mountain Man a plus ---- not a song that lets them shine, and, they DO shine...

  • Tight

  • lets just agree on the fact that the backing vocals didnt always work out, Feist had a great day with her gituare but apears to have a cold and the voice was good but not great by the very high standards we are used to from Feist. But the song is wonderfull and the performance rocked as such?

I just dont care if anyone stares at each other.

  • What a beautiful song, I love how she plays the guitar. I agree with some here that the back singers didn't bring anything extraordinary to the performance. It hindered Feist instead.

  • wwwgreatbuyoutletscom wwwtopfuelsavercom nobody had a right to call himself well-disposed towards society until he had grasped the elementary fact that the only way to improve the universe was to improve oneself, and to leave one's neighbour alone. The best way to begin improving oneself was to keep one's own bowels open, and not trouble about those of anybody else. Turkey rhubarb, in fact. The serenity of outlook thereby attained would enable a man to perceive the futility of interfering

  • I love her.

  • Feist is avoiding the mic. She must have had a cold or something. And what's up with Mountain Man? I thought they were supposed to be great singers, but at least one of them sounds terrible around 3:07. I guess it could have been a poor sound job making it difficult for the singers to hear...

  • @dantgood Jools holland normally has top notch sound quality... This background singers are sincerely lacking here...

  • The small girl reminds me of Michael Emerson (Ben from lost)

  • MASTODON

  • i hope mastodon does this song on the split!

  • mastodon! :)

  • What a beautiful song.

  • I am noot in love with Blair Waldorf...

  • I love her outfit!

  • Some of you think that she is singing "inconsistently" but if you see, she's wearing the same outfit she wore for Letterman, and others, and so are the possible lesbian backups, so I'm sure she had been singing a lot the whole day.

  • @stephysteph100 not that much.... Letterman is recorded in the US, Jools Holland in the UK, so she must have had at least 7 hours break.... I think it's fair to say that they probably just wore the same wardrobe for each recording.

  • @gilkesisking Maybe you are correct. I just saw her 2 nights ago, and she was amazing. She is great live, so it bugs me that people say she has an "inconsistent" voice, because she sings beautifully!

  • Feist kinda looks like Keira Knightly in Never let me go.

  • hello @Orlypie

  • @smell474 Hello Feist will you marry my friend Corey?

  • hi corey mc dermott (",)

  • This is a music that you simply cannot ignore.

  • LOVE.

  • The backing singer with glasses on looks like Froggy from little rascals, hahahaha

  • The 3 backing singers are a group called Mountain Man. Search for them here on YouTube and you'll find some amazing acoustic performances with beautiful harmonies.

I've no idea whether those 2 are a couple. However, if you watch their videos you'll see that it is very common for all of them to be watching each other while they sing. They sing a capella or with a single acoustic guitar, so perhaps it helps them keep in sync.

Personally, I think it adds a wonderful tension to this performance.

  • Went to the Feist show in Philadelphia on Oct 29 and witnessed first hand the creepy deep eye stairs between the two backup singers. Its way more creepy in person - and they did it multiple times through out the show! I love Feist, her voice was amazing, it was a great show, but someone needs to tell those two to stop!

  • Not a very good vocal performance by Feist: was she sick or something?

  • I don't know what the point is in having such obvious lesbian backing singers. I don't have any problem with lesbians at all, but come on.

  • @buckleygeneration yeah i mean come on. what do these lesbians think, that we should just listen to them sing? they could least dress a little more like real women.

    .......not

  • @adunnmica A not joke, really? Like I said, it doesn't bother me in the slightest that they're lesbians, I just think it's weird that all three of Feist's backup singers are so obviously lesbians.

  • Absolutely love this!!

  • Thanks Paul Krugman.

  • Whey that's my mate on the lunatic big monster bass saxophone. I like Feist she's pretty damn talented an it's a great song - superb guitar sound too, not so sure about the slightly creepy backing singers mind.

  • The backing singers had a wee bit'a eye sex there..

  • .... awesome song... why aren t they more popular?! stupid music industry nowadays....

  • nice to see her showcasing her amazing guitar playing a bit more - I also think this new stuff is possibly the best she's ever written!

  • CHARLES SPEARIN!

  • The guy on drums looks just like Chilly Gonzo except not really.

  • Why does everyone find it so amazing that she can play guitar?

  • good see artists who are just as good live as they are in the studio, which is rare these days.

  • this is AWESOME she can play guitar!

  • charles spearin rockin out!

  • I didn;t like their first song but this was excellent!

  • cannot get this song out of my head!!! which is feckin A!!!

  • what's with the lesbian backing singers giving each other the eye?

  • @PimpSonnyMax don't be such an infant.

  • @PimpSonnyMax LMAO!!!!

  • @PimpSonnyMax Well I think it's wonderful, if a little out of context for the song.

  • @PimpSonnyMax lmao I know right

  • @PimpSonnyMax There's something up with that drummer too :-P

  • @bernlin2000 he looks like boromir off the lord of the rings lol

  • @PimpSonnyMax you use lesbian like an insult. they're a band called mountain man.

  • @adunnmica naaa i use it cause they look like 2 lesbians that are giving each other the eye. i would never use lesbian as an insult, i love them!

  • @PimpSonnyMax : )

  • @PimpSonnyMax its kinda hot! :)

  • :D

The 1980's called. They want their lesbians back.

  • @PimpSonnyMax These are musicians doing an excellent job singing their parts to a powerful song. They look at each other to keep together, on beat, in synch and on pitch. They are pros. They are Mountain Man.

  • @jgsanta If that's the case then why are only 2 of the 3 women looking at each other? And inconsistently at that I might add?

  • @Angusthewino Mr. Wino, have you ever sung in a group setting? They are not singing with inconsistency, are they? And, if you are truly a wino, can you tell and does it matter?

  • @jgsanta My wine soaked eyes saw Feist a few weeks ago - the show was amazing - Mt. Man are talented. However those two staring deeply into each other distracts from the music. The post on this and other Feist clips for the Metals tour speaks to that.

  • @jgsanta never said they weren't, i think they're quality singers mate, just they seem a li'l 'fond' of each other haha

  • @PimpSonnyMax I was asking myself the same thing! Haha.

  • @PimpSonnyMax: erm - it's called singing . . .

  • @PimpSonnyMax Um what's with your stupid homophobic comment? why point out such an insignificant part of a wonderful performance. what if they are? Lesbians cants be back up singers now? And looking at each other is wrong? Cant believe 60 people actually like that comment

  • @cautionhorsey not being homophobic mate, i have nothing wrong with anybody whose gay. if the backing singers were a lad and a staring at each other throughout the whole song it would still distract me from the rest of the performance. i think they're good singers and i never said lesbians can't be backing singers. if i was in a band that big i'd make it a rule to only have lesbian backing singers in my band. i just pointed out that it's a bit distracting. that was it man, chill out x

  • @PimpSonnyMax Oh ok, glad you're not homophobic, If the "looking at each other" thing is really distracting for you, I recommend just closing your eyes and listening. Trust me, you'll never notice the difference. ;)

  • @PimpSonnyMax No kidding right. It's like she says I know you cheated on me with a penis!!

  • @PimpSonnyMax there it is, the worst top rated youtube comment i've ever seen

  • @PimpSonnyMax They're meant to resemble the women who worked the land in the Second World War. If you take a look at the posters from around the time, you'll see what I mean. They were a ploy to get women to replace men who were away fighting.

  • @PimpSonnyMax

who cares if there gay. Lets here you sing harmonies like that.

  • @PimpSonnyMax it's called professionalism.

  • @PimpSonnyMax I know, right!! LMAO

  • Sounds a bit weak. D:

  • The girls from Mountain Man? Well that is wonderful.

  • @hkim927 a bit confused by this collab w/ mountain man. they've been muted of their playful harmonies which made them unique; with feist they sound like typical backup singers. i wonder if its because the structure of the songs don't allow for such liberal play and reinterpretation? i adore feist very much but kinda think this collab doesn't work all that well. maybe if they went a bit more acapella with simple instrumentation? unless the central focus is feist herself but then why get m'm?

  • @brifuata You make a great point and I find your second suggestion to be more plausible because I don't believe it's a true collaboration. It's similar to Tasseomancy who backs up Austra at shows. The girls of Tasseomancy are just as capable as Mountain Man at hitting those beautiful harmonies, but they tone themselves down when preforming with Austra. They're just backing up their friends band.

  • fabulous

  • timing is fucking with me.

    great song.
