Truth be told its all about profit!!! CN continually cuts maintenance budgets and this is the end result. The tracks are no longer maintained as they should be. Ask any track crew member. Rail lines used to be inspected a lot more. Shareholders are happy. This is a little blip in the radar just like Edson was.
its nice to know what happened to the bridge kinda see the production there making. we have to now take these trains on a slower track further north to get them through. awesome video man!
i woulda hated to be on that train at that time. wow
also i believe all these derailments are due to the weather changing so rapidly up an downs of the temperatures are making the rail bridle
It is interesting how CN five derailments in the week of Jan. 16 to Jan. 23 of 2012. Three in Alberta (this one, Hays Lake, and Hinton) and two in Prince George, BC. There was also a tragedy in Kamloops. On Friday, Jan. 21 at 12:40 AM, a truck driver was killed when crashed into a CN train on the side of Kamloops, at the first crossing west of the year. He was only 19. The train did not derail. Certainly not a nice week for the railroad.
@DieselSmoke92 CN doesn't get any more derailments than the next rail company, it's just that they are much larger than CP, and run a larger quantity of trains, so it looks like more. However, at a percentage of trains to derailments, it's no more than CP really.
Now THATS one hell of a Bridge to film the remake of Under Siege 2 (Dark Territory).

Amazing video, glad the crew didn't go over the side. Dumping the grain to reduce the car weight is a good idea.

That's not fog, that's grain dust.
