As a christian I dont understand why people have to attack another person's belief God or no God, Buddhist, Islamic, Jewish, or Atheism ETC. @goff1491 There's mountains of evidence for evolution and the big bang theory. Look up Pod Mrcaru Island Lizards for examples of evolution within our lifetime. The cosmic microwave background is proof of the big bang. There's so much evidence for both, texts books are written on the subject, so don't think I can give you all the evidence in just a paragraph. The evidence is there, you just have to look.

@goff1491 Religion does slow human advancement. Stem cell research is constantly being challenged by the religious. Teaching that evolution isn't a fact hurts medical research for diseases and virus'. Because of our understanding of evolution, we know virus' evolve and medication that becomes ineffective gets improved. The list goes on and on, but the worst thing is that religion tells people to quit looking for answers because "God" is the only answer you need.

My point is that, as a byproduct, religion keeps people from looking for answers and facts because "God is the only answer." Especially if those answers contradict your belief. You've already admitted that you don't believe in the big bang or evolution; case in point. Those two things are universally accepted in science. You don't deny them based on evidence, you deny them only because they contradict your belief.

It does not offer reasons or explainations as to how said Law works, it just does. Like all laws, Scientific Laws can be changed. A Scientific Theory is the most tested, verifiable and observed explanation for any phenomena, and explains both whys and hows. As for the Big Bang, read Lawrence Krauss's new book "A Universe From Nothing".

To my knowledge, 3 of the 4 base pair molecules have been created in laboratories, re-created early earth conditions. I recall lightning played an important part in the formation of one of them.
-then there is the argument about complicated systems like the eye. Eyes are very delicate organs and with any minor flaw they will not work. In the evolutionary process it is said that species improve and advance over time but when attempting to advance to having an organ like an eye, we will have to go through a long time without having any benefit whatsoever until it is perfected. How then would natural selection favour a species with an eye that does not yet work?
@ducttape2593 You seem to be forgetting the immense time scale involved in evolution. The eye is a complicated structure, but they're not perfect in any way. In fact there are many animals with eyes better than ours, Hawks and Octopi for example. Another thing to keep in mind is every creature that has ever lived was a complete and whole organism. "Transitional Forms" have never existed, because the creature before, during, and after that time was it's own creature.

Inferior eyes did not see as well as eyes do today, because they were still adapting. Adaption takes MILLIONS of years to achieve! Most nocturnal creatures have eyes, even if they don't work as well. As for a species that had eyesight so poor it was detrimental to their propagation? They all died, and were never seen again.

Evolution is not fact and we all have flaws in our understanding, lets not go calling ourselves 'all knowing'. Can you explain to me then why love probably the greatest feeling one can have if evolution contradicts it. Why would loving someone possibly extend our own survival? Why give to the poor, Why sacrifice your own time or money to someone who will never repay you? Why does it feel so right to do some of these things, love, hope, give, serve, etc.

@goff1491 There's mountains of evidence for evolution and the big bang theory. Look up Pod Mrcaru Island Lizards for examples of evolution within our lifetime. The cosmic microwave background is proof of the big bang. There's so much evidence for both, texts books are written on the subject, so don't think I can give you all the evidence in just a paragraph. The evidence is there, you just have to look.
PS. Faith in a God is not healthy, it slows human advancement.

Teaching that evolution isn't a fact hurts medical research for diseases and virus'. Because of our understanding of evolution, we know virus' evolve and medication that becomes ineffective gets improved. My point is that, as a byproduct, religion keeps people from looking for answers and facts because "God is the only answer." Especially if those answers contradict your belief. It does not offer reasons or explainations as to how said Law works, it just does. Like all laws, Scientific Laws can be changed. A Scientific Theory is the most tested, verifiable and observed explanation for any phenomena, and explains both whys and hows. As for the Big Bang, read Lawrence Krauss's new book "A Universe From Nothing".

To my knowledge, 3 of the 4 base pair molecules have been created in laboratories, re-created early earth conditions. I recall lightning played an important part in the formation of one of them.

@ducttape2593 You seem to be forgetting the immense time scale involved in evolution. The eye is a complicated structure, but they're not perfect in any way. In fact there are many animals with eyes better than ours, Hawks and Octopi for example. Another thing to keep in mind is every creature that has ever lived was a complete and whole organism. "Transitional Forms" have never existed, because the creature before, during, and after that time was it's own creature.

Inferior eyes did not see as well as eyes do today, because they were still adapting. Adaption takes MILLIONS of years to achieve! Most nocturnal creatures have eyes, even if they don't work as well. As for a species that had eyesight so poor it was detrimental to their propagation? They all died, and were never seen again.

Faith is trusting God and you have to make that decision. You have to understand that he wont remove your challenges but turn them into advantages. If god knows everything then he knew that Satan would defect before he even created Satan, so god could have just not created Satan. Also, how could I trust in something that I don't believe exists? I also don't blame anyone for my lot in life, and I don't need a crutch to follow my dreams. Maybe appealing to emotions is effective in your community, but only logic and evidence will convince me.

I used to be very hostile towards religion, but then I realised it brings a warmth and comfort for certain people, there's really no point in insulting religion, it's not gonna stop people from believing it.
