This was the VERY FIRST game I have EVER owned. It was bought for me sometime back in '94 shortly after I got my SNES for Christmas. Then about three years later, like a dumbass I traded it in for another game because I rarely played it anymore.

As a kid, I was deeply disappointed by the SNES version of this game. The Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter II SNES ports were both pretty damn faithful to the arcade versions, but in NBA Jam, most of the audio cues, announcer clips and graphics effects were missing...hell, they didn't even render the court so the perspective could change as the camera moved.

The arcade version is the only way to play this game properly.
