  • Hey "Lemonite1",

uuummmmm YEAH, Tom "bones" Malone mentions that street by name in the movie when Jake and Elwood are talking to "Murph and the Magic Tones" while they're wearing those "candy ass monkey suits" between sets at the empty ballroom.

  • There's a place like this in Chicago called Maxwell St. It's a huge flea market and awesome pickup bands play the Blues. You can get Vienna Hot Links for a buck and a quarter and a whole kitchen dinette while you're at it. There's also THE BEST beef brisket sandwich place on the corner.

  • THIS SONG...THIS BLUES...THIS ARTIST.... ARE SO GOOD , SO NICE, SO MAGNIFIC.............BOOMBOOM BOOOM BOOOM......

  • We're on a mission for God.

  • @CurlyHairChris It's a pretty cool gig...

  • Boogie Chillin’

  • i totally agree with every1 that comment on this video and all the other music that has such rhythm and soul in the music. just love this music

  • One whiskey one burbon...now one beer...Rock on Hook...Renoharpman

  • thats the music, when someone says: "they got soul man" ;)

  • That is absolutely the most bad-ass voice ever .... "ahowa howa howa howa" :)

  • Anyone that didn't see this guy missed so much. He had left an indellible mark on music. As the always said, "The Hook says boogie." Boogie on Hook.

  • my dad did me the service of taking me for a ride down maxwell street before it got plowed under. cant say im very impressed with what the college replaced it with.

  • Thank you, John Landis for incorporating the extended jam of this song.

I was about 12 when I saw this movie in the theater and I remember watching JLH and thinking, "that has to be one of the coolest guys in the world." Had no idea who he was, but of course I knew all the other big names in the movie. Then I'm watching the end credits and I'm like, "John Lee Hooker? Damn, even his NAME is cool."

Anytime I hear "Boom Boom" it could go on for 4 hours and I'd never get enough......

  • @OneThousandHomoDJs search up Mafia 2 trailer Boom Boom.

  • @gododoof heh heh...........nice! This song has such a great groove, it can be used for anything. it should have the kind of wide commercial exposure that has been given to James Brown's "I Feel Good." oh, wait.....no, cuz then I'd be sick of it. :)

  • this was showing at a cinema near where I lived. I remember going to watch it several times and one I even sat through 2 shows straight.

    I was about 10

  • Nothing, And I mean NOTHING, beats that old time Delta Blues feel that this song gives.

  • John Lee Hooker, Willie Big Wyes Smith, Calvin Jones, Walter Horton, Luther Guitar Jr Johnson and Pinetop Perkins. Only old Muddy is missing!

  • How can you not smile and feel the rhythm to that sound?

  • I dont know why the movie The Blues Brother gets only a two star rating from reviewers. Its the best mood elevator bar none!

  • yes i did, no you didnt, yes i did, no you didnt!!!! hahahahah!!!

  • Is this an extended scene? I have an old VHS copy of the movie and too much of this is missing.

  • @deathofamailman

This scene is from the Blues Brothers Director's Edition DVD. It has other extended musical numbers as well.

  • @alman54 Are they are as cool (and worth the money) as this?

  • @deathofamailman The DVD Director's Edition is definitely worth the price if you're a big fan of the Blues Brothers movie. The directors cut has a lot of extra lines and small scenes added, which makes it fun to watch (more scenes with Ackroyd or Belushi), even a scene with Elwood without his sunglasses--he's wearing safety goggles instead. Longer musical numbers include Boom Boom, The Old Landmark, Stand By Your Man, Think, Minnie the Moocher, both final concert songs, and Jailhouse Rock.

  • @alman54 I had no idea. Thanks so much, man. (And you know how they're always worried about copyright issues? In this case, YouTube actually helped sell a DVD!)

  • WAUUUUUU :-)

  • I used to live in the windy city. To me, this is the best Chicago movie. I would say High Fidelity would be a second.

  • Is there a blues brothers movie or sonething? 'Cause if there is, I'd like to know.

  • @PoseidonJ1 Yes. Oddly enough, it's called "The Blues Brothers". One of the greatest movies ever. But watch out for something called "Blues Brothers 2000"; avoid that one.

  • JLH= most epic blues voice in history?

  • Любимый музыкальный фильм!

  • Fantastic guitarplay

  • gotta love music no matter what it is although make music with passion and u will get a piece of love from your fans

  • I was 9 years old when I first saw this movie. My dad took me and I remember his smile every time I asked "Who was that?" or "What was the name of that song?"

When we got home, to my amazement he had albums of every artist in the movie!

It was like finding buried treasure, from another world.

As I got older I realized that it wasn't "like" finding buried treasure, what I found really was treasure from another world.

  • @tretrioeciii well said.

  • @tretrioeciii It's just so sad that today's music does not have the same soul as this. And that future generations won't enjoy finding treasure from another world like this.

  • I wrote "Boom boom"! I wrote "Boom boom"!! :D

Mostly grilled onions and mushrooms (which I can never get enough of).

  • @skipplet "no you didn't!"

  • This was only shown in a very small part on the TV and original movie release. In the DVD version you get the full version as shown here...

  • Soul and Blues needs to come back already. We've gone through the 60's,70's, and 80's revival. Lets bring back the soul!!!!

  • excellent!!!

  • This is a found about JLH. Best Chicago based movie ever!

  • Chicago's Very Own.

  • I was 3 years old when this movie came out on VHS. I loved this song so much my poor dad had to search around the middle of Wisconsin to find a John Lee Hooker album...he was a great man. Btw, I became a musician and I credit this song as one of my earliest influences. Thanks dad!

  • Cool story!!!

  • @skinnyblink7 That's awesome, used to be so hard to find cool music, and your Dad could see some merit in this music and supportive. A real Dad!

  • @skinnyblink7

  • Love the sign that says "Cheat you Fair".

  • Great scene from a great movie!

    *****

  • how times change. they did that today, nobody id B gettin bonded out, no matter how famous....

  • This is "Cool" in every aspect

  • "No ya didn't! No ya didn't!"

    Love it every time. :)

  • The blues bros stop n see John Lee Hooker, and then they go in the cafe and Aretha Franklin sings.... that just blew me away

  • the harmonica player died one year after the movie :(

  • I love how they breakout into a random street fight.

  • Haha, why are street performers never this good?

  • because most street performers ARE'NT John Lee HookeR!

  • @drowzy721 Iagree with you mate...

  • love it, love it, love it , never ending.....

  • hate they dont have jew town anymore .that is the name of place from this scence

  • Tu nous manques JLH ++++ Ta voix , ton rythme, ta musique , ton orchestre ....... J'ai vécu 2 concerts avec toi : INOUBLIABLES MOMENTS DE VIE ++

  • It's not Little Walter playing harmonica. It is "Big" Walter Horton, another great harmonica player. Check out his album "FIne Cuts.' He didn't start recording until late in life but his tone is unmatched by even Little Walter.

  • You're both wrong, it's "Medium Size" Walter Menderchuk.

  • You're both wrong. It's not Little Walter and it's not Big Walter Horton...it is, in fact, "Medium Sized Walter" Bonebrake. He was littler than Big Walter Horton and yet bigger than Little Walter.

  • they did the same thing to Pittsburgh calling it "redovelopment" the destroyed an entire community know as "the Hill"

the same thing also happened to Memphis.

The white powers did all they could to destroy all remnants of black history and culture.

but the music lives on, so they failed

  • SHO YOU RIGHT!!!!

  • The blues music is derived from the black community, the musicisians generally came from really bad situations, the music they spawned was from there real life experiences. they actually releived themselves from the missery performing and and getting the shit they were going through, off of there selves. Da blues, now we all have it, God bless

  • Does anyone know if that is actually Little Walters on the harmonica?

  • considering that Little Walter died in 1968, I'm going to go out on a limb *insert sarcasm* and say that this is probably not him.

    lol

  • No joke, I'd be there every damn weekend...lol!

  • Cop engine, cop tires, cop brakes..

  • @soco13466 cop shocks !

  • U don't mess with the Hook!!!

  • this is the stuff all music comes from

  • great song ...best wishes from egypt

  • jaja the final !!!

  • no u didn'!!!...LOL

  • John Lee Hooker: one of the BEST things to ever come out of the USA !

  • This is what I call "BLUES"!

  • lol what the heck does "blues" mean?

  • It means that you feel blue, i.e. sad and melancholic. You try to keep things steady and simple, hence rule #1 in the blues.

  • no, I mean the ""s

  • Well, you feel blue, so you have the blues.

  • Just remember you play the blues to make everyone else feel worse...not make yourself feel better.

  • @garyouze2ORAG Blues can also be cheerful, see "Everybody Needs Somebody" from the same movie.

Sad music doesn't necessarily have to make you feel worse. On the contrary, perhaps. It's a way to present sadness in such a manner that it is less sad.

  • I like the raw street sound :)

  • you know what's sad? Part of the reason they were able to get James Brown and John Lee Hoocker and Aretha Franklin was because they weren't gettin any job offers since everyone was so into the psychedelic stuff

  • 0:19

    LOVE THAT, YEAH

  • @negrokezo: NAAAAWYA DIN'T! :D

  • please beam me to this place!!!

  • @superjoegi id love to go there too but on the special features of the blues brothers dvd the director says they demolished the buildings...it no longer exists dont remember when this happened though

  • any idea as to who the guitar player is near the end?

  • The Bass player is Clavin 'Fuzz' Jones and the other guitar player is Luther 'Guitar' Johnson

  • awesome! never saw the whole song from the movie. thanks for posting!

  • 1:40 - Pinetop looks a bit agitated.

  • "Four fried chickens and a Coke."

  • YYEEEAAAHHH !!!!!

best vidéo de youtube je te dit !!!

  • That's the great Walter Horton playing the Blues Harmonica, with a cig. in his hand.

  • It's a hundred and six miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.

  • Hit it! ;-)

  • this is blues.

  • I agree...this is real music. I love to play Boom Boom Boom on my guitar, but I fail in comparison to the late great John Lee Hooker.

I was brought up on Blues. My father discovered Blues round about the same time most Brits did, in the 60's. I went to many a blues gig, seeing such greats has BB King and Albert King and the British Blues guys, such has Clapton, for example.

I hope I can install my love for blues into my daughter and any other future children I may have.
