I also know what you mean with the gearing up on WoW but I'm guessing you either didn't take the time to get to level 50 on SWTOR or you didn't do operations (Raids).

I'm only 38 at the moment but cannot wait to get to level 50 and start doing raids with my guildies. :)

The blue quest icons means that you already did that heroic. you cannot do it again till the next day or if someone shares it with you.

Commondations comes green lighted loot.

A few thing to note for the good people at IGN.

There is no orange light. Custom gear is on the trade market and in loot is rated on par with blue.

Artifact or magenta is the highest level open world loot, but Legendary or purple is currently the highest gear around. You can check the trade market a "rarity" section for further clarification.
