  • 4 people are jealous that they can't get a PRS, so they disliked it.

  • I would be willing to go to prison for this prs

  • what strings are you using

  • nice.............CHEERS

  • Great job there mate

  • Awesome Guitar

  • LOL NOOB WITH 1/2 t3h STRINGZ

  • if you're looking for a piezo pickup for solid body guitars that actually gets a natural acoustic sound... Check out the Lashbrook, (all tone wood construction) Naturacoustic Piezo Bridge... We put it on a concrete block and it still sounds great!

  • @footcandy Are you using any kind of EQ? I've got a piezo installed on my Telecaster but I have to use a 10-band EQ and bump up the low end to get that full of a sound and even then it doesn't sound as good as yours.

  • How is the afination is this song?

  • God, I have probably listened to this 20 times in the last hour, and I can't get enough of it. Excellent tone, excellent technique, and a beautiful PRS.

This tone is exactly the reason all of my PRS guitars are loaded with piezo pickups. Even my PRS SE Standard and SE Semihollow. Those two guitars sound incredible. Funny thing is, I spent as much on the bridge.piezo system as I did on the guitars themselves, but it was worth it...especially on the semihollow.

  • Sounds pretty nice.

  • Is this pickup a humbucker :D BECAUSE IF IT IS I"M ORDERING IT!

  • @Annonymus121

This pickup is not a humbucker or a single coil. It is a piezo pickup system made by LR Baggs. The pickups are under the bridge.

Graphtech makes a version of this called the GHOST pickup system

  • Awesome job, i always loved the way that prs guitars can somehow dial into that almost flawless acoustic sound. if you get the time check out my own version of hope on my page. peace!

  • how do you like the wound g verses a regular g? i was considering it because i hear the harmonics on a regular g go outta tune over time

  • @brandon5pennies I prefer the tone of the wound G over the plain G, I've always found a plain G sounds tonally totally different from all the other strings on a guiltar. Only problem with the would G is that you can't bend it like an unwound.

  • @footcandy dude this is the sound ive been looking for in an electric setup .how much does this guitar cost n what amp is being used, man, shit this sounds awesome

  • @Stratman291 The guitar cost anywhere between $3000 and $5000, alone. That is a PRS Hollowbody II with a piezo pickup system in it.

  • @footcandy hey, what tuning is this song in?

  • @DonTheTurtleDude Tuning is low to high DADAAD

  • Are those the pickups that came with the guitar? Or did you change any of them?

  • @Quakelord1991 Yes, that's the original LR Baggs piezo unit that comes in the guitar.

  • Is it possible to get a piezo like this installed in a 513?

I just got one and it's beast. It's got all my electric tones covered. The only thing that would make it better is if it had a piezo just like this.

I'm wondering what would need to be modified on the guitar. I assume there would be need for another switch, volume pot, and output jack. How hard would it be going about getting those things put in? Anyone know?

  • @iTzNoxy You can get a Graphtech Piezo system which a few people have installed with success in their PRS, but it will only fit into a trem model. Check BaM for some threads on it.

  • @footcandy

Thanks dude, I appreciate the help. But what is BaM?

  • @iTzNoxy birds and moons dot com. The place to find out about PRS guitars.

  • @footcandy

Graphtech makes the GHOST piezzo system for the hardtail bridge models as well...

They even sell Tonepros AVTII bridges (superior bridge to the stock one) with the piezos already mounted. That way you install it on the guitar, wire it up, and you're ready to go.

  • The problem with playing musicmans, PRS's and Gretchs Is the price, and the quality is so high you feel like your cheating.

  • I watch this video over and over again, it makes me crave to get my own PRS CE-22, which I will probably do next week. I am going to install Ghost piezo's and I really hope it sounds something similar to this!

  • I don't know why the custom 24s are so expensive when this is a better made guitar...

I mean you see some selling for twice the cost of this ..the hollowbody is so underrated...

  • cool

  • it sound beautiful!!

  • Hi, the sound is so awsome.. may i know where i can buy the piezo bridge for PRS? thanks

  • Very nice - I really liked your ending arrangement too - sounds better than the original!

  • I can barely believe it! That`s the best acoustic simulator I`ve ever heard. Well, it isn`t strange really, those are Alex`s pickups. : )

    Well done!

  • This is wonderful, Jo. Thanks very much for posting it. I don't even play guitar and I want a PRS Hollowbody now. It's gorgeous.

  • yes i agree. good work. and that is a beautiful guitar..

  • Awesome Man! My Dream guitar and favorite tunning! Rush would be proud too! :)

  • Beautiful guitar man and terrific playing!

  • piezo directly to the PA? you have a PA in your room?

  • Sounds incredible, now all you have to do is switch to your bridge pick up, turn the piezo off and squeeel a solo!

  • that is just amazing

  • that is my dream guitar if i had that i would want no other guitar in the entire world

  • Actually, that's not true. It will only make you want more of them so you can have one for different string sets, tuning etc. You can't have just one! :) This really is an incredible guitar though, get one, you won't be sorry.

  • well that is true i have a prs mccarty so yeah i do kinda feel like that

  • @footcandy, How much did you pay for this thing? I mean, its absolutely beautiful, but damn these are expensive!

  • @gibsonshredder86 does that mean your have converted to PRS

  • DADAAD? AFAIK this song is originally played on DADGAD =S

  • No, it's definitely played with DADAAD (but on a 12 string of course).

  • very nice thats about as an acoustic sound as you can get

  • awesome

  • hey bro good cover Rush is the best band ever hey did u learn the tabs by ear or by website? If by website could u send me the link? Or have a vid of u teaching us? Thanks

    Krank

  • Just awesome. PRS kills Taylor T5 in acoustic tone. and a WAY better electric tone.

  • The PRS is awesome. I was very disappointed when I tried out the T5, the piezo on the Taylor sounded like crap in comparison to the PRS. It was an acoustic guitar pretending to be an electric and it did a horrible job at both.

  • I totally agree. I just don't have the cash for the dream guitar (PRS). I just bought off ebay a Carvin AC175 with flame maple top and LR Baggs Ribbon p/up for cheap. Its my budget PRS for now! ha ha You sound really awesome man this is my fav acoustic youtube clip.

  • @footcandy ...there is no piezo in a Taylor T5. It has a body sensor, an under the fretboard humbucker and an exposed bridge humbucker. I can get great acoustic sounds from it, as well as some cool clean and overdriven hollow body electric sounds. Of course, I also have a PRS McCarty with a rosewood neck, and love that too. They both work well for me, guess you just have to try 'em all and buy what you like.

  • PRS = QUALITY

  • bass rules on this

  • how can i buy a piezo and how does it instal?

  • To achieve this sound, you have to take out your old bridge and replace it with a Piezo bridge, then wire in the new controls. Otherwise you can just buy the Piezo Saddles and swap them with your existing ones, then rewire.

  • Beautifully done. Alex Lifeson is one of the most unsung, underrated guitarists in the history of rock. Period.

  • This was a very nicely done rendition of an excellent Rush song.

  • Can't say I agree with you. The tuning sounds good. Maybe it sounds different on the six string as opposed to 12? I think the way he improvised some of the song makes it unique ya know?

  • I think you must be deaf, no offense, dont want to be mean ;-)

  • Great job Jo. That was amazing :)

  • Cracking playing - I just love the flow and structure of this piece, which is indicative of Lifeson over the years. I want to work this out for myself but just to give me a headstart can anyone tell me what the tuning is please. Thanks in advance.

  • The tuning is DAADAD

  • Thanks footcandy - much appreciated

  • @pinters42 low to high EBEBBE

Yep 2 b strings. That's how he hits the tonic E on the 5th fret. This way he can keep the drone of the EB at the top without having to hit the strings for the melody.

  • Oh My God... You're so great... and how your Prs Sounds...... its seriously awesome... have you ever thinked about lauching a C.D ?

  • that was really gooood ! i did a cover of this song and im about to put it on youtube! it will never be as good as yours but check it out anyway please :D

  • very nice

  • excellent man!!

where did you get a tab or did you just do it all by ear?

  • Thanks. Sorry no tabs, just did it by ear.

  • oh thx anyways

its bloody impossible to find any tabs for the song for 6 string

  • Great! Thank you from Russia!

  • Sounds beautiful man!

    .

  • that kind of tuning acctually scares me. partly because my tuner doesn't like to tune out of standard. i have a boss TU-80. i looked at the tab and thought it didn't look too hard. it isn't as fast as other songs from the album, and there is a lot of open chords. my favorite to play (tyhe only one i can play as of now) is Mal. Nar.

  • WOW- you were right about that PRS. I felt inspired

  • Sounding and playing great. just picked up one of these gems. Are you playing thru an acoustic amp?

What amp aryou using on this recording?

    Thanks, Den

  • I was plugged direct from the piezo output into the PA with nothing in between. I sometimes use an LR Baggs DI to the PA but in this video it was straight to the PA. Thanks.

  • where did you get the piezo? and what is it called?

  • The piezo is an option that comes with the PRS Hollowbodies.. and it's called a piezo. :)Get one, you won't regret it.

  • I have some questions though. And i don't want to buy a prs hollowbody. All i want to do is install a piezo in one of my other guitar. Any suggestions? BTW i know prs is great. I have their se custom

  • Try checking out the Graphtech Ghost system. You would be able to install that into your SE quite easily.

  • i have an ibanez electric so i have to buy one seperate so does it matter which brand of piezo pickups i buy

  • Nice, Wonder Alex Lifeson knows about Piezo bridge pickups. lol. Anyway, great job. I'm thinking about getting the X-bridge for my start... any suggestions?

  • Alex used to play a piezo equipped PRS CE, check out one for their live "Driven" videos, you'll see when he uses it half way into the song.

  • Just goes to show again just how incredible PRS guitars are.!!Wonderful playing too.

  • wonderfull ,,

  • Ouaa very beautiful sound, i like it !!!

  • nice job buddy

  • wow, sounds just like an acoustic!

  • beautiful

  • Hey! Great cover! Is that the original sound of the guitar? As it came?

    Cheers from Portugal. :)

  • Yup.. that's how the piezo pickup sounds! Can't beat having two guitars in one.

  • Ok thanks! That really does look like a great guitar to play! ;)

  • wow that sounds really good! what kind of piezo is in those guitars?

and what frequencies did you boost/cut?

  • The piezo pickup is made by LR Baggs especially for PRS. I don't think I did any eq fiddling on this, it was straight from the guitar direct into the PA (sometimes I use an LR Baggs Para DI for tone shaping, but not in this case).

  • Beautiful cover of a beautiful song by my favorite band. Good job, keep playing.

  • Great sound. What gauge strings are you using?

  • 11-52's with a wound G.

  • Thats going to be my next guitar for sure!! Amazing sound!

  • Very good playing and tone. Do you gig with this guitar using the piezo sound?

  • Most definitely! Much easier to carry one guitar that can be elec and acoustic than to take a fragile acoustic along to a gig.

  • I like this. I like your version of this song... very easy to listen to, not like some others that are just noise.

  • Jeez what are the chances... I look up a cover of Incubus, see your video. You're using my personal choice of guitar (I love PRS's) and then I see you've also done a cover of Hope, which is one of my favourite songs by my favourite band =D. Keep up the good work man - nice taste in equipment and music!

  • Damn sweet! Well done!

  • I love your guitar to pieces!

I like that end chord you played... and I don't want to break strings, that A scares me.

  • Go on, you know you want to...tune that G string up to A. :)

  • are you using an acoustic similator of some sort? Great sound (which I'm sure is part the guitar itself)

  • It's a piezo pickup which is built into the bridge saddles. This is an extra option on the PRS Hollowbody models and is similar to the pickups used on acoustic/electrics. So basically this guitar is both an electric guitar with magnetic pickups and an acoustic with the piezo. There are two inputs on the side of it, so you can play both at the same time, one through a guitar amp and one through an acoustic amp or PA (as in my case).

  • You are an excellent musician and a true Rush fan. I just discovered you today and glad I did :)

  • well done

  • Amazing job, man. A real pleasure to listen to.

  • yo howd you do that on 6 strings lol

  • dude this is a really dam good cover

  • DADAAD?

Ugh, I've been in the wrong tuning.

I've been playing it in DADGAD.

  • Yup, DADAAD! It's much easier now eh?

  • Beautiful guitar. Beautiful cover. Nice work!

  • please do a lesson on this song

  • Good work. Beautiful and hard to play song.

  • Fucking amazing

  • excellent work

  • wow! Thanks man! Hey, I was thinking about getting piezo on my guitar. How crucial is it to have a hollowbody? Does the sound quality change drastically? Thanks!

  • Dude your hella good.

    Im overly impressed.

  • have you got a tab available? i am midding some of the parts from mine :)

great cover of an amazing song. very well done!

  • lovely piezo sound.

  • how old r you rush is so old man my dad loves them but then again they are a brill band

  • I'm old enough to be your mother. :)

  • hey dude, very nice guitar, would like to get one of these... does it work great for heavy sounds, too ? is the mccarty hollowbody different ? price ? thanks

  • Yup, it's great for heavy sounds. It can do it all.

  • nice job...sounds good on the prs!

  • damn, I'm in love with that guitaaar !!!

  • Excelente sonido!

  • Excelente sonido!
