  • I have used final cut pro and kdenlive. kdenlive in my opinion is better in every respect. I even take film classes and my prof. says kdenlive is better, take that apple.

  • Hey, can you make a tutorial on how to put multiple videos on one shot in kdenlive? like instead of one video, you have 2 or more playing simultaneously but each is smaller to fit on the screen. Thanks!

  • LOL!!! XD 4:43

  • @d07sadur Composite and Screen are very similar but Composite usually doesn't turn the black background completely transparent. Maybe your muzzle flash layer already had a transparent background. In that case Composite was the correct transition to use. I'm happy to hear you solved the problem.

  • @d07sadur Make sure you are using the Screen transition so the black background becomes transparent. Otherwise it may be something in your settings. I have not had that issue so I'm not sure I can help. You may want to do a Google search to see if anyone else has had that problem.

  • Very very nice tut, thanks for sharing :)

  • wtf i dled the clips from detonation films and i put it on sony vegas and its jst a black clip help plz?

  • @arabianxgoober Sorry, I never used Sony Vegas. I don't know what the Screen Transition is in that program.

  • Thanks very good tutorial helped me a lot :)

  • Awesome. Thanks.

  • I watched your video. It looks pretty good. :)

  • thanks i've already have video me shooting with this effect :)

  • it helps me not to think about reinstalling windows to use vegas. thanks man. :)

  • @Isaiask8er Sony Vegas is very nice and gives you a little more control over some things but don't underestimate Kdenlive. It's an amazing program in it's own right and is the only editor I've needed for all my videos. There has even been an update since this video was made.

I dropped Windoze after they refused to help me recover after a particularly nasty virus ruined my OS. I'm still using this computer thanks to Linux.

  • @FenderGibsonWashburn I should have started using linux before, I love linux, image editing and video editing. kdenlive is similar to sony vegas, i'm getting used to using it and i don't whant to go back to "winbugs" and suffer again with viruses, registry keys and disk defrag.

keep doing nice kdenlive tutorials man !!!

  • nice tut but it would be nice if you would put the links to download the muzzle flash and the gunshot ...coz detonation films is a trick website :)

  • You sounded like Elvis to me :)

  • @FloobenShnooben Thank you ah thank you very much. ;)

  • thank you for the tutorial, saved me from trying to dual boot premiere or vegas. thank you

  • @Honda250Racer02 Glad I could help :)

  • @lupuldinnoapte I can think of a couple different probable causes. Save your work often. Make sure you are using the "Screen" Transition. Make sure the flash clip is the track above the original footage. Some times you need to set the transition "with track" to the correct track instead of Auto. Kdenlive can be buggy at times and do weird things. I have the same version. I always render MPEG-4 2000k, that's just my preference. I hope this helps.

  • Great tutorial man. really helped me seeing as I'm just getting started. I just have one issue, what version of kdenlive are you using, cause I dont seem to have the "screen" transition. I can still get the same effect with, its just that I am missing some of the transitions that you have and I'm not sure if it is because of the version I have or if you have imported them from somewhere

  • @fullrah My version is 0.7.7.1 I don't remember ever importing any additional transitions but it may have happened during an update. I would check your version number first. I have 31 transitions but probably only use about 3 of them.

  • @FenderGibsonWashburn Mine is also 0.7.7.1 but I only seem to have 5(AffineComposite, Composite, Dissolve, Slide & Wipe) and a blank one. Doesnt really matter that much, seeing as the job gets done. One more thing, I downloaded an explosion from the site you gave and tried to add it to the video, but I couldnt get the "transition" to look good. it ended up looking like a ghost cloud. Dont know if it is because of the transitions I have or if Im doing something wrong

  • @fullrah Only 5 doesn't sound right to me. I would check the Kdenlive forum to see what's up with that. You will need the Screen transition to do muzzle flash the same way I do it in this video. Composite doesn't work exactly the same as Screen.

  • Kdenlive needs a better compositor. This video helps though!

  • @arthursucks I agree. I was surprised how well this worked considering Blue Screen is nearly useless. I'm probably comparing two different process but they are similar in my mind. FYI I'm a fan of your tutorials and a subscriber.

  • Very informative video. Loads of great advice for people using that program.

    Kev :)

  • @Kevlogs I found many muzzle flash how to's on You Tube but none using Kdenlive. Now there's at least one ;)

  • I wish I could get drivers for my hardware, I hate Win7/M$ generally...

  • @FilmCrab A bad virus destroyed XP and I got no help from M$ or the manufacturer because the computer was over 3 years old. I've been Using Linux Ubuntu almost 2 years now. It's unfortunately true, some companies don't have Linux drivers but to be fair some older equipment and programs won't work on Win7 either. I have a new Win7 computer sitting in it's box. I suppose I should get it out before it becomes obsolete. LOL
