Das ist der Hammer Studio 89 mit dem Paco Supermix. Ich habe noch 3 Kassetten die ich wie einen Schatz hüte und auf einer ist genau der Mix. Ich bekomme eine Gänsehaut.......
memories of tagging on the 4 train,,, ,,hahahaha,,, pulling 5 joints from a $3 bag,, quart of Ballantines XXX, and a couple of loose cigarrettes and I was straight
@damlost you keep writing about Paco stealing the mixes. He never claimed that he made those mixes, he was just the radio announcer and he featured those mixes in his show. But he always said who the person doing the mixes was. I know this for certain because I used to listen to him on the radio all the time.
@damlost I will not say that paco never stolen a mix or what ever. I have not the background informations. .. Paco presents mixes at KTU from several DJ, Edit and Mixmasters in his show, like "LatinRascals", "Aldo Marin", "The Dynamic Duo" and many more, that was the program. He announces the Artists everytime. The Latin Rascals are named by him!
I remember the day Paco was given a speeding ticket driving through the Lincoln Tunnel....he was pissed and all he did was cry about it on the radio. Remember that anyone?
ha yea NY gave us the Razor edits . Chicago Gave you House! I still think Chi DJ's would kill NY DJ's from back then! I'm not talking bout cut n scratch. The art of blending! lol
This is a time in dance music that will never be seen again...N.Y.C. was so hottt..the club scene was off the charts. The energy was so thick....the variety of clubs was huge. REEL TO REEL skills wasnt an eay task @ all. Paco & the crew man i would run home just to tape these same classic mixes. Miss the BIG APPLE & the times i spent w family & friends who are no longer here. Thanks for the awesome post & a BRIILIANT trip back down memory lane... Peace coming from a true NEW YORKER!
@port2344chester ;) I think you have the same feeling like I. You for NewYork, I for Berlin. ;) Okay, I still living in Berlin, but it was never the same as in these days. But we can say, we was there. ;)
@miller4th502nd Yes the feeling is universal....tunes like this moved many around the globe my friend... happy too see/hear that you too did/do enjoy going back into time. Peace & continue toe tapping & head moving to such awesome tunes...1 love from N.Y.C. to Berlin!!

HOLY SHIT!!! Dude, you are the man!!! I was just posting elsewhere how I used to listen to Paco Supermixes on 92 WKTU and then did a search. I praise you for still having these old beats!!!! Do you have the entire mix? Can you stream it on Yahoo messenger?
What is the title and artist of the song that plays from the middle to the end? "I Just Wanna Dance"? I've never heard that one before. It's excellent!
None of these mixes were done with pause buttons, fool. These are multi-edits created on reel-to-reel by splicing the actual tape and doing manual edits with razor blades and china markers You cue the reel by hand and cut the tape on the mark you make on the head of the reel-to-real. Then you tape it all back together.
@frankiebones01 hahaha, I had to laugh, you tell em frankie! damn, tommy musto ftw. also: chinagraphs and editall blocks - and the occassional digital delay. <3
I can't believe that you've got these mixes! I was sitting at home taping this one from Barry Graves on the same night... still got it on cassette, in fact.
More Paquitos(Paco)super mix on demand here on Youtube. Ive been searching all over the internet for these clasicals El Barrio Mixes and nowbody has them..... BX style. More please. :}
