  • hey nice vid...i was wondering if u knew how to do this to a 89 Mazda MX6...

    let me know:)

  • @CTAULAKI - probably pretty much the same process so long as you have a double din opening to allow for a stereo and the cupholder unit to both be mounted...

  • @samonela - ok well i already had a stereo installed a while back, so now it has the kit because the original stereo space wasnt enough for a aftermarket stereo...

    so now theres pretty much enough room to put double-din under the stereo...but its just blank space...so thats why i looked into getting a cupholder

  • Awesome! I have the Taurus cupholder for my 88 Legend Sedan, just have to get around to installing it one of these days! So lazy haha

  • this is a cool little mod, we do this in the Mark2 Volkswagen jettas and golfs in their centre consoles, I have one in mine and couldnt find out the year until you showed me this video.

    thanks!

  • @lornesbored - No problem! keep up the good work on those Vdubs too man :D

  • Great job

  • Love it. Enjoying the fruit of your labor.

  • Nice job, haha. I hate those coin/cup things, I have a broken one in my '95 Taurus. The piece that comes out of the bottom just snapped when I put a glass bottle in there (not a beer hahah). Now I just have one of those little plastic autozone ones between the front seats (bench seat ftw).

  • in the '90, theres very little space between the shifter and the console. i dont think i'd be able to use the cup holder or even to open it =\ thanks for the guide tho

  • If you have a sedan, you could try changing over to the Coupe shifter knob that has the "S" button on the front and kinda looks like a joy stick....that oughta free up a little bit of space...

    But yeah I hear you on the space issue....but I gotta 5 speed so no issue in 1, 3, or 5 gears for me?

  • mine's an auto, sad to say. also, im not sure where i could get a coupe shifter knob. i'd love to have a few cup holders, but i'd prefer it to be higher (like bmw's cupholders just above the glove compartment) on some occasions, i just use the space between the seat and the door. theres just enough room for me to fit a large drink from mcdonalds.

  • nice!

  • good job!
