@Ghostface315 You are always the Fire Team Leader , the only way to be a sniper is to get one from an Ammo Box or an Enemy Sniper. You cant unlock weapons or customize your gear in single player, just like in real life your weapons are standart issue.
I remember on COD WAW, there weren't any places to snipe because any where you go a guy with an auto can kill you, hopefully on this game they have places where you can kill people on the battlefield and they can't kill you.
arma 2 is a lot better, it doesn't come through in the videos cause ofp 2 has more eye candy but arma 2 when you play it is so much better. reason, because the people who made the original Operation Flashpoint had a disagreement with codemasters and split off and created arma and arma 2, the true successors

sniping about 300-600 meters in this game is an adrenalin rush. when you get that kill and the target is 4-5 dots below the middle of the scope and hit two in a row. that is nice.

@TestStunt Nope, welcome to realism. Say bye to the world of Call of Duty's and Battlefields. In the real world the enemies are not stupid and might be just as good you are at shooting. I can give you advice though...as a rifleman don't engage in Close Quarters Battles. Try to use single shots and skirmish a few enemies from like 300 metres before you move up ahead and take out the last ones.

@916rr There is a sniper rifle on mission 1. Head north and capture the jeep at the house. If u keep going it's in the ruins at the top of the hill above the sam site on the west side of the island. Hope this makes sense.
@916rr I'm pretty much sure u don't play this anymore, but if I'm not wrong there's a barret-type sniper near the helicopter near one of the SAM sites in the first mission.
@916rr There is a long sniping chance in a mission were you have to rescue 4 POW from a Convoy , right at the start in that mission go straight and you will find 2 Enemy Snipers, (inside a house) pop em and take the HIGH POWER SNIPER RIFLE of one of the guys, i passed that whole mission sniping providing cover to my team mates, add me on Xbox Live Wolf0202.

and yes on the console version there is a dlc (4.99 on ps3) that contains island tour day, and island tour night you spawn on an airfield with alot of vehicles and helicopters and there are no enemies, it might come with the pc version. the dlc also comes with a few missions as well

The problem with games like these is that most people who buy it just want to get involved in warfare, which is no problem as long as they don't go screw up the multiplayer aspect simply due to the fact that they're far from skilled enough as gamers to actually play it well. Same for most popular fps which you can play online, such as L4D2, where incompetence roams. I hope most who see vids like these realise they would suck ingame, decide not to buy it and go back to playing Halo and GTA.
@Ralyshayth I do think what you said is a little unfair on this game, its so different to other games and it offers something different. I really do enjoy this game when you get into it its extremely tense. It really isnt for everyone but when I play online you bump into die hards to love it to bits and i'm starting to as well. I had the original flashpoint and i'm very glad that this game came out to carry on the series.

Alright then guys, few questions about this game since I'm getting it soon.
1. Do you get to pick the way you play the game? (rifleman, sniper etc) and do missions ONLY exclusive to that specialty, but it ties in with the other specialties?(i.e riflemen raid a camp, snipers provide support)
2. Can you take your squad and go run off and play kind of like ArmA2, except without the mission maker?
3. If the answer to #2 is No, is there any way to mod console version to have mission maker?

@fia2322 Some missions you get a different weapon or different scope, but there really isn't much choice and the choice in the weapon caches is usually very sparse, just Chinese rifles usually (I'm happy if I find and AK around to change from my m16).
That kind of adds to the realism (in the Army, I'd say you basically get what you're given), but it can be a downside. Still, since the rifles are usually fairly accurate, you can still choose how you play somewhat.
@fia2322 1. no, but in SOME missions u get a sniper in your squad, then u can kill him, then take his sniper, then u get the sniper rifle. i think in one or two campaign missions, u get a sniper rifle of your own.

@fia2322 you choose your role on multiplayer, and you can be anyone in your squad if you are playing co-op(including sniper). but you are always fireteam leader on singleplayer. and fireteam leader has different weapons depending on the mission.
@LittleCakey Bad Company 2 is definitely more action packed than this game, however this one is more authentic in that its more realistic. BC2 is fast action like MW but this game requires ALOT of patience since every bullet has the chance to one shot kill you. And thats across all difficulties. But if you like realism and a challenge go for it.
it depends on what you want, BC2 has an awesome multiplayer (far better than MW2) lots of vehicles and a good physics system.
OP:flashpoint also has an awesome multiplayer but its more strategic. for example a sniper in OP:Flash point doesn't go up to the enemy and fight on the front line, when playing sniper you have to go far outside of enemy sight, go prone and scout, then when the opportunity presents itself, you can start picking off targets
@yrady uhh.. depends, can your computer handle OFDR? and if you like tactics more than run and gun action, get OFDR, if you liked HALO or COD, get metro 2033. But OFDR is a beast of a tactics game that is only satisfying when you aren't lagging like a bitch and have your graphics options on lowest. Good video card + like tactics? = OFDR

This is one of the most realistic military games I've ever played. You spend most of your time bored out of your mind walking around, all while hoping you don't get nailed by a sniper or blown away by an RPG! This game really falls short in two aspects. One, the controls suck and are very slow and hard to use. When there's some screamin' chinaman 50m away, you'll be fumbling with the controls trying to get you and your squad to shoot back. Second, Microsoft Sam could have done better voiceovers.
this game is not easy to play on a 27 inch TV...you cant see or read shit. you NEED an HDTV that is at least 32 inches or you will have trouble finding them chink fucks
What I dont like about this game, where it fell to me is the time base mission. I hate those and their 2/3 of the main campaign, so you cant realy take your time and use the map at is best. BUT the mission where you dont actually have a timing bomb up ur arse are the BEST ONE ive play so far in my history of gaming which goes back to the intelevision lol. If your looking for something diffrent, less arcade and more hardcore, rent it first.
this game is awesome... especially the fact that you dont just go running through the enemy lines getting shot a hundred times and not dieing... still a lot of action i would reccomend
It would be better if you could change the range setting on the rifle instead of aiming 10 meters abouve what you are shooting at... to bad you cant adjust the sight....

flashpoint has better view and handle feel of weapons than all the other armas
it feels a bit more natural while arma and arma 2 animation felt a bit buggy
thing is multiplayer will lag if you dont run a high end dual or regular quad
i have a dual core and campaign runs pretty good whilst multiplayer drops to 20 fps

The problem with games like these is that most people who buy it just want to get involved in warfare, which is no problem as long as they don't go screw up the multiplayer aspect simply due to the fact that they're far from skilled enough as gamers to actually play it well. Same for most popular fps which you can play online, such as L4D2, where incompetence roams. I hope most who see vids like these realise they would suck ingame, decide not to buy it and go back to playing Halo and GTA.

@Ralyshayth I do think what you said is a little unfair on this game, its so different to other games and it offers something different. I really do enjoy this game when you get into it its extremely tense. It really isnt for everyone but when I play online you bump into die hards to love it to bits and i'm starting to as well. I had the original flashpoint and i'm very glad that this game came out to carry on the series.

@TheHalo3pic I know this is a really late reply but just incase your still wondering, press B when your choosing your class on multiplayer then you should zoom out and you should be able to go into different squads and use diff weps(:

@lolilmu the m21 is the sniper version of the m14. it has a longer barrel and different ammo. its not in any way affiliated with the m1 garand

Alright then guys, few questions about this game since I'm getting it soon.
1. Do you get to pick the way you play the game? (rifleman, sniper etc) and do missions ONLY exclusive to that specialty, but it ties in with the other specialties?(i.e riflemen raid a camp, snipers provide support)
2. Can you take your squad and go run off and play kind of like ArmA2, except without the mission maker?
3. If the answer to #2 is No, is there any way to mod console version to have mission maker?

@fia2322 Some missions you get a different weapon or different scope, but there really isn't much choice and the choice in the weapon caches is usually very sparse, just Chinese rifles usually (I'm happy if I find and AK around to change from my m16).
That kind of adds to the realism (in the Army, I'd say you basically get what you're given), but it can be a downside. Still, since the rifles are usually fairly accurate, you can still choose how you play somewhat.

@fia2322 1. no, but in SOME missions u get a sniper in your squad, then u can kill him, then take his sniper, then u get the sniper rifle. i think in one or two campaign missions, u get a sniper rifle of your own.

@fia2322 you choose your role on multiplayer, and you can be anyone in your squad if you are playing co-op(including sniper). but you are always fireteam leader on singleplayer. and fireteam leader has different weapons depending on the mission.

@LittleCakey Bad Company 2 is definitely more action packed than this game, however this one is more authentic in that its more realistic. BC2 is fast action like MW but this game requires ALOT of patience since every bullet has the chance to one shot kill you. And thats across all difficulties. But if you like realism and a challenge go for it.

it depends on what you want, BC2 has an awesome multiplayer (far better than MW2) lots of vehicles and a good physics system.
OP:flashpoint also has an awesome multiplayer but its more strategic. for example a sniper in OP:Flash point doesn't go up to the enemy and fight on the front line, when playing sniper you have to go far outside of enemy sight, go prone and scout, then when the opportunity presents itself, you can start picking off targets

@LittleCakey sniping in this game is way better than BC2 and weapons and vehicles are very realistic, the sound is also the same as in real life.
all in all if you want an arcade shooter go with BC2, if want a strategy shooter (War Simulation) then pick up this game

@yrady uhh.. depends, can your computer handle OFDR? and if you like tactics more than run and gun action, get OFDR, if you liked HALO or COD, get metro 2033. But OFDR is a beast of a tactics game that is only satisfying when you aren't lagging like a bitch and have your graphics options on lowest. Good video card + like tactics? = OFDR

This is one of the most realistic military games I've ever played. You spend most of your time bored out of your mind walking around, all while hoping you don't get nailed by a sniper or blown away by an RPG! This game really falls short in two aspects. One, the controls suck and are very slow and hard to use. When there's some screamin' chinaman 50m away, you'll be fumbling with the controls trying to get you and your squad to shoot back. Second, Microsoft Sam could have done better voiceovers.

What I dont like about this game, where it fell to me is the time base mission. I hate those and their 2/3 of the main campaign, so you cant realy take your time and use the map at is best. BUT the mission where you dont actually have a timing bomb up ur arse are the BEST ONE ive play so far in my history of gaming which goes back to the intelevision lol. If your looking for something diffrent, less arcade and more hardcore, rent it first.

It would be better if you could change the range setting on the rifle instead of aiming 10 meters abouve what you are shooting at... to bad you cant adjust the sight....
