in europe, when the light is about to go from red to green, the yellow turns on to tell drivers to wake up, get their vehicle in gear. I wish that 'merica would adopt that. It'd help out all us manual trans drivers and trucks plus make traffic go faster
Double red lights were required in North Carolina for single lane left turns for redundancy sake (in case one red light burned out) prior to LED signals being developed. Now you'll see single red heads at intersections for left turns.
double red lights for left turn? Interesting, I've seen it in South Carolina. Plus, Lexington, KY started to install double red for BUSIEST intersection.
