how do you write these things? do you just play alot of this kind of music and recognize chord structure or do you have music theory knowledge? i wish i could come up with guitar riffs like this

I was really rushed but I wanted to make a bass idea that complimented your idea in this video, I didn't really get a lot of time to fix it up but gimme an opinion if you like the rough draft I can make a cleaner version, you have great ideas.
