@tjgehmann1030 it was better, but the sound chip was terrible, they could have produced some better looking games, but by then, the 32X was dead, but to call it a competition against the Super Nintendo is an overstatement, more like the CD-i
@SniperStorm7 yeah almost everyone i knew had a ps2 or xbox, nobody had a dreamcast, i had heard about it, but never saw how it played nor what kinds of games were avilable for it.
Thanks for the nice comments guys, I'm really proud of this video, it one of my best, I would make something like this but with a different console. Got any suggestions? I'm really scraping the bottom of the barrel here at my channel
@knucklesfan8 Sonic CD is the best 2D platform game ever made in my opinion, but don't forget about Kojima's visionary Snatcher, the enhanced version of Earthworm Jim that doubled the length, Final Fight CD (which made the SNES version look like a joke by comparison and is the best version on any console except 360/PS3), Lunar 1 & 2, Robo Aleste (a sequel to MUSHA and one of the top SHUMPs), Shining CD, Sol-Feace, and Spiderman. Sega CD brought back Prince of Persia! Pitfall was just okay.
pointless sega should have used the time wasted on 32x on the saturn, id rather have seen virtua fighter 3 and shenmue on the saturn and sonic xtreme than some stop gap measure 32x
i have got knuckles chaotix . it is a great game and it is not anything like a sonic . plus the 32x was the beging of 3d gameing . oh and it had the frist doom game . still hope they make doom 4 . if they do i am so pre ordering it . any way the 32x changed gameing for ever ,
@SniperStorm7 oh yeah i still have ultimate doom . it took like 5 floppy disk . can't play on my new computer because its a windows 7 and it only has a dvd and my old computer crashed . so i have box of floppy disk that i really can't use . still ultimate doom hade like 30 leves and they ad cyberdemon . it is a cool game .
real shame cos if the effort would've been put in where it counted and the pricing been more competitive, sega could've created a trend and we'd all be getting optimum from our favourite consoles rather than new console after new console being launched and never reaching its full potential every couple of years.
I thought the 32x was a good idea, but the timing was bad and Sega didn't put the effort they should have into it. X-men, Sonic-X, Ecco the Dolphin, Michael Jackeson's Moonwalker, and Duke Nukem would have been nice :) They did not back this add-on with enough games, but its potential was there.
@crzyur Just like the Sega CD, it was an amazing machine, but Sega just didn't put forth the time amd development with it. If it wasn't for the FMV and if Sega put more games on it like a Streets of Rage CD or Outrun CD, it would have done better
It would of bombed no matter what because the Sega Saturn was just around the corner . Why Sega released this with the Saturn on the books is anyones guess. Sega put the time and effort in to it but no third party game developers did and I do not blame them, what with the Saturn being just around the corner. The men at the top of Sega were smoking something funny to release two 32 bit machines within a year of each other, what idiots.
I always thought the 32X was pretty cool technically, but the execution was complete SHIT! I'm surprised Sega even bothered to release the CDX after that, but I'm glad that they did. The CDX was awesome, despite its lofty price tag back in the day.
The system would have been a moderate success had Sega pushed a strict quality control. A large majority of the games look nothing more than a regular Sega Genesis game, and some of them worse. Games like Dark Light, Kolibri and Metal showcase more of its potential.
@youtoubakias It´s true. Because of the price virtua racing was the only game with virtua processor so Sega decided to make this console. Too bad. I think that instead the genesis they should release all togheter at the beggining, perhaps it wouldn´t have been bad, but, it was too late.
so were the graphics better on 32x than on super nintendo? was the 32x attachment a competator?

@SniperStorm7 oh i see. so it was 32 bit then? its too bad sega went under i didnt think the dreamcast was that big a faiure.
tjgehmann1030 3 months ago
@tjgehmann1030 The Dreamcast was a wonderful console, it's just that Sony totally crushed them with the PS2

@SniperStorm7 The one thing Sony couldn't match was Shenmue don't you think?

@SniperStorm7 The sound wasn't terrible, just very hard to program for, hence why any 3rd party 32X game as terrible sound quality.

I thought the Sega Cd was cool but the 32X was one of the worst ideas ever.

@duhlittleman actually If you're not counting the PC ports of Doom, I think the SNES had the first console version
