this song's message has been a puzzle to me for so many years, I'm still unsure up until now.... who are they???? could it be the great men or women who became fathers and mothers of the great heroes and heroines of our world? or something else...
@joelundras1 They are singing of their young children at the time....Lua and Joshua. Both are in their 40s now. I found some info about Lua in 5 mins on Google. I'm sure their parents are proud of what they've become.
I'm 13, junior high school party, spin the bottle and this song is playing. I got to make out with the girl of my dreams...I will always have a soft spot for Seals and Crofts.
Unbelievable! I totally did not expect to find this Seals & Crofts song here. This is one of my, if not my most, favorite song they did. Wow! Thanks for sharing this.
Man that would be awesome to see all the seals and crofts albums uploaded on youtube. back in the day I used to own all of their vinyl - but those days are long gone and so is the vinyl.
I can't imagine therir wives not crying hearing this song for the fisrt time....and in this concert.........what an ultimate tribute....and beautiful melody..I'm moved after all these years......and how about the the nice message of uniting black and white as well ?
I think everyone should be aware that Seals and Crofts took ALOT of flack from the music industry for their opposition to abortion, including recording a song who's message about the subject is crystal clear. I have much more respect for them than many "Christians" I personally know.
I think everyone should be aware that Seals and Crofts took ALOT of flack from the music industry for their opposition to abortion, including recording a song who's message about the subject is crystal clear. I have much more respect for them than many "Christians" I personally know.
I loved this also, saw them at a catholic college in PA back in 1973, I always wanted a relationship like it felt they had... so beautiful, and so in love...
venkykan: seals and crofts are more than just beatles...they brought a message in thier song....a message of enlightenment. Thier musics are so mystical
I used to have the album this song was on. There was another song-Paper Airplanes, I think it was. Any way on getting it on YouTube? I would, but I don't have the album anymore. Help
I only know this melody from Cher's song "Chastity Sun". It has meant much to me over the years, and I'm glad to have found this, too. I'm off to see what S&C albums are available on CD.
I believe Seals and Crofts are the best of our generation. I love them terribly. I am a Christian. I pray earnestly for S & C, their families and all their beloved Ba'hai's.
Just enjoy the music and be carried where they are carrying you by their composite mastery and mystical reaches. That is all that matters. They took all the risks in the world by being truly of the spirit in a grossly materialistic business and won. Consider the depth and quality of these songs. Very high level of artistry here. It is surprising more are not covered other than "Summer Breeze". The universal spirit permeates their work like a refreshing fountain: it is for EVERYONE universally.
That's the problem with religion...everyone wants their "prophet" to be "the one"....can't we all just agree that all the Messengers of God wanted one and the same thing...for us all to live by the "Golden Rule"...to love thy brother as thy own? Why do people always have to make their way the only way?...Baha'i's believe & revere ALL the Prophets of God...as Progressive Relevation from the Almighty...read up for yourself...I do not judge anyone's faith..it's ALL good..~Peace my lovelies!
If this wordsmithin' doesn't bust your gut in it's loveliness, well then, fine lads & lasses, then there is no hope for the planet.!..please listen up...for the goodness of humanity, and so it goes...jillyhawk..~Peace...that mandolin just about breaks me ever' time.... God Bless us all & Baha'u'llah...Justice!! !
Only knowing Seals and Croft for their hits, I heard this song for the first time yesterday. What a powerfully touching and emotive song. And the sentiment is so hopeful and timeless. So beautiful. This song should be better known.
Actually, ozark, Jimmy and Dash are members of the Bahai faith. But it's certainly true that the song has some references to their beliefs about family.
Don't understand what you're saying but I was merely stating a fact, in response to ozarkdaredevil's comment, that the jesus in the Bahai faith is not the same Jesus Christ in the Bible.
@ozarkdaredevils Oh how I wish it were about Jesus Christ. It's not. It's about Baha'i. They try give out some washed up statement about Jesus being there with all the faiths together. Folks, reading this just now confirmed to me even stronger, it is O N L Y the blood of Jesus Christ that can get mankind to God. ONLY. Nothing else.
I love Seals and Crofts terribly.. I have sent them messages and done all i could for them. I care for their children spouses and loved ones in Baha'i.
please please someone out there say something about the show they did in johnson city tn---i was there ---round about 76--- the opening was starbuck--- i-to this day--think maybe it was a dream--- with the pot and all back then --if it was real ---at freedom hall---let me or someone know--- cause both bands performed a legendary show that has been lost in history
They are singing about their wives. It is very sweet and a beautiful song.

I will just say - Beautiful Recording.
Seals and Crofts I believe have a connection with the Bahai Faith.
There is an INCREDIBLE Bahai Temple just north of Chicago.
One of the most beautiful buildings you will ever see.
