Not to burst your bubble, Luke Steele has been coming out with great music since 2001. When I first heard MGMT, I could tell they had bit his style from the Sleepy Jackson. I agree both are good, but EOTS far surpasses.

I can't see Empire of the Sun being around very long. They and their music seems a bit too self indulgent - they're pretty much a 'concept group' and will only ever be a niche product, with a very limited shelf life.

Nothing is more self-indulgent than Scrubs, and they've been around for quite a while, although people are getting less obsessed with Zach Braff and everything that revolves around him.

I think the difference is though that Scrubs probably paid for itself - Empire of the Sun's stuff has charted pretty badly and probably lost the record company money.

'Walking on a Dream' only got to #64 on the UK charts, and the follow up single 'We are the people' only got to #86. The album only reached a peak UK position of #21. Not many record companies are going to keep putting money into expensive videos and keeping people on contract if they're going to lose money on it.

Its a shame because walking on a dream is actually a pretty cool song on its own - outside the concept of Empire of the sun. Who knows, I guess it will depend on how much money theyve made/lost

Yeah, it is a shame. There seems to have been a few artists around that have had one big hit song, then disappeared quite quickly. Sam Sparro is probably the best example - he had a big hit with 'Black & Gold' but the rest of his stuff struggled to chart (probably because it wasn't very good!)
