Stealing? I don't think so. Thanks to Joey the jazz organ is being kept alive. Having seen Joey and Jimmy in person, kudos to both. Jimmy passed on, Joey is doing a great thiing for us by using his gift to carry on the B3 legend. Just want to add, Joey started at a much younger age then Jimmy. Listen to the difference in Jimmy's and Joey's first albums. Joey had the technical backgroung when he was a kid. I saw Joey live twice in the last 4 months, and wow, he keeps getting better!
@jurgiejj I'd just like to second that. I've only seen Joey twice, both in the past year or so, and he sounds better and better, in comparison to his earlier work, and to the first gig I saw of him. So much originality. I personally prefer De Francesco over Smith, but I must thank Smith for getting me into Hammond. Long listener of The Sermon and J.O.S., still some of the best hammond playing I've ever heard. May they both be listened to for many, many years to come. Cheers Hammond B3
Problem is...EVERYONE steals from Jimmy Smith. He more-or-less invented much of what we play on the organ. Where Joey is different is he takes the precision about ten levels up. You can hear every note he plays, no matter how fast. And I think where Joey, Tony Monaco and others really shine is how they brought the organ out of the back room and once again put it on the front stage. All bow to Jimmy, believe me.
i wish joey D. would stop stealing from Jimmy Smith, does this guy have an original concept and style if ..let him you it...Tony Monaco another imitator at the organ, at least offer his own concept
I hoped that my comment is so positive and enthusiastic that you can figure out I'm not a racist... I didn't mean to offend anybody. AfroAmerican fits you???!

just stellar. Cream of the cream. Also nice race joint: the Nigger, the Gypsy and the Euro(Italian)American... Simply outstending

You know the n-word is inappropriate. Your comment did make sense, but it feels like you only commented to drop the n-word.
