Excellent video!! I am a Religious Studies major with the goal of being a professor, and this helps me a lot. I would agree with pretty much every thing you say from what I have learned so far.
Thanks for making such a fine presentation of how the early church was instrumental in deciding what would be accepted as god's choices in books, and ultimately the bible's conflicting messages, which 2,000 years later, still divides the 33,000 plus Xian denominations. So more and more, I'm compelled to conclude that men created the bible, and it's god, in their mind's image. Man did not receive, nor did he ever desire, any divine assistance in his efforts.
I myself find the bible as good literature. Not as a ruling book for my life. Can't base your beliefs on something poorly translated, changed and gathered by hundreds of scholars before. Good vid CrazyPills! thanks so much!
Insightful, well researched and very nice video editing, offering great eye candy for the stories presented. I am impressed my friend, and now, also subbed.
we could speculate over which ancient writings should dictate how we should run our lives, or we could just throw the whole damn thing into the shredder and move into the 21st century....
Many Christians angrily resist any discussion of the Bible's historical origins; remember that fundamentalists feel obliged to choose faith and scripture over fact and knowledge.
@Ademention Cab you do a vid on how Christianity spread in it's early stages?"
It's an interesting topic and I might consider doing one. However, there are a couple of more videos the the canon of scripture series that ReligionFreeDeist and I are working on.
Very well done, as usual, & historically informative. One minor slip is referring to Tatian as Titian (14 centuries too early for the great Venetian painter!); you also use a slightly earlier date than i have previously seen for the Diatessaron (c165-175). Novices will be confused by the fact that there are two Clements mentioned, the bishop of Rome at the turn of the 1stC, to whom the epistles are attributed, & the later Clement of Alexandria. The distinction between them should be clarified.
This is what happens when people think God is part of their thoughts....
"Spiritually" inspired by the "Holy Ghost" is just one's preferences and outside influences. Christians damn near think the ARE God, when the "Holy Ghost" does work "through" them.
For me, a relatively in depth study of the bible convinced me that every word of the book is a product of a purely human nature. It is a product of succeeding conventions. as much politically inspired as 'spiritually' and intellectually inspired.

"Hello" is such an awesome intro song. I actually prefer the instrumental version, but the one with lyrics is great too.

For those who want to know more about how the OT came to be I recommend this new channel:
heterodoxism that has multi-video lectures by prof. Christine Hayes.

Damn! This is good! You have shown that from its very beginning church leaders picked and chose what books were worthy and which books were not.

@owlcowl Good catch on Tatian/Titian...oops :-)
Many sources do cite 165-175 for the Diatessaron, but I have seen others set it at 156. I should have probably used the range 156-175.
Thanks for the comments.

Awesome.
Unlike Creatard videos after which I feel a bit dumber for watching, your video had the opposite effect...I feel incrementally more informed.
Cheers,
