  • I am extraordinarily determined to travel to Iceland to see them. I will try to do this before they break up. Which would be so bad if they did as my heart would shatter into a million pieces. Jeez, I sound obsessive.

  • Icelandic sounds like an ancient language out of Lord of The Rings. Which is absolute class.

  • ' ínni mér syngur vitleysyngur ' means ' inside me sings a Lunatic ' merry Christmas from iceland every one.

  • @xLuRo Days has passed since that day... anyway, Merry X-mas bro :)

  • google translate:

    icelandic---english

    put in 'inni mer syngur'

    ??

  • Hahaha I got another Sigur Ros song. CONSPIRACY!

  • Best final exams encouragement music out there.

  • this is my song for life! It makes me smile! It makes me feel alive and I want to explore the whole world, make new friends, get new experiences. This song is LIFE. I want to live in this song.

  • *Foot starts tapping*

  • is this song on any of their albums? can't find it :(

  • Comment removed

  • @TheFutureastronaut It's on "með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust". Just check the info :)

  • @lukasmayo thanks a lot :) this song makes me happy :)

  • what language is this in?!

  • @sammonster96 islenska. (icelandic)

  • @sammonster96 They are from ICELAND, just like Bjork.

  • @sammonster96 icelandic :D

  • Nothing better.

  • This is beautiful! <3

  • 3:41 - orgasm, holy shit

  • does anybody know where I can find the sigur ros letters?

  • 3:22 - 3:40 Crystal Castles ripped it for Year of Silence

    #swag

  • Halldor Helgason brought me here

  • vitleysingur* :)

  • I think they call it "volenska".

If you like Sigur Ros, you may like my band White Note. Try my channel by clicking on whitenotetheband ! Enjoy :)

  • Everytime I'm in a bad mood I listen to this song and I'm smiling again. Sigur Ros is just unbelievable.

  • c'est de la BOMBE!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG MAN

the suubtlee violin near the end is just awesome

  • incredible

  • i dont need to know icelandic, music is a universal language (:

  • @SilotSho even if u speak icelandic you can't understand it... they sing in "hopelandic" player

  • @chillzman007 If you're gonna try and call someone at least do your research, Sigur Ros sings in Hopelandic in all of their ( ) album, and a few other songs, but a lot of their music is in Icelandic, so yes, is understandable. This particular song is not in Hopelandic, and in English would be called "Inside me a lunatic sings". Now, I don't claim to be a font of all knowledge, but I like this band and I'd call it common knowledge that they don't sing exclusively in Hopelandic.

  • 2:25 :)

    amazing song

  • i wish i could read/speak icelandic. it's such a gorgeous sounding language.

  • @bjorkismyhomie Learn a little bit at a time. Start with pronunciation (google "icelandic pronunciation"), then greetings/goodbyes, personal pronouns, the verb "to be" (að vera), etc, and little by little you'll pick it up. :)

Oh, and I agree with your assessment with the sound of the language. It's very low in harsh/guttural sounds, rich in sounds that keep the tongue up and forward in the mouth and moving around.

  • Love this, and love Crystal Castle's version.

Honestly I love CC's version more, but hey... This is great.

  • @ingunnoglinnftw Crystal Castle has covered this song? Is there a link for it?

  • @favecurly222 Year of Silence - Crystal Castles.

  • Who the heck is eminem and why are we discussing him on a sigur ros song. ridiculous

  • Year Of Silence

  • @laru09 i just found out it was sigur ros on that song and it has made me fall in love with it 100 times more! *sigh

  • 9 fools were drunk when giving it negative rating..

  • God, I love this song.

  • The build up at 2:25 onwards is fucking orgasmic!

  • @benski81

    I love Mogwai!

  • Comment removed

  • i love this song and its not on limewire FML

  • @canthardflip63 then support them and don't use limewire! DUH!

  • I'm 13, and while all my friends are listening to Eminem, I'm listening to Sigur Ros. Hooray for quality music!

  • @thesushisoldier Check out Mogwai ;)

  • @thesushisoldier

Eminem is no worse than that, so shut the fuck up, kiddo

  • @dragoron agree , i luv eminem

  • Comment removed

  • @dragoron You can't at all compare Eminem and Sigur Rós. Telling him to shut up because he's doing something like that is ridiculously stupid. You, sir, are an ignorant bastard trying to just tear people down in my opinion. Also, keep it up, thesushisoldier, I can't agree more with what you say!

  • @ytuhec

you, sir, have just been trolled

  • @dragoron

I´m sorry but this is song is much more poetic than for example shake that ass with eminem, I mean eminem has had some good songs but Sigur rós songs are just so beautiful unlike eminems songs. I really feel happy to understand what they are singing :D

  • @E1R1KUR ಠ_ಠ

  • Comment removed

  • @thesushisoldier Sigur Ros is many many layers of heaven above Eminem. You are wise!!

  • @thesushisoldier HOORAY :D im 14

  • @thesushisoldier same!! except I'm 14 (:

  • @thesushisoldier Don't let your head get too big. It's great to have great taste, but don't think less of your friends for liking Eminem. '~'

  • @thesushisoldier

    I personnaly listen to both...:)

  • Comment removed

  • Great =)

  • VERKUR I EYRUN !!!!

  • if ice was singing, it would be sigur ros.

  • best on snowboard edits

    halldor!! :D

  • best icelandic band :P

  • QUE HERMOSA CANCIÓN, QUE HERMOSA LETRA

    SE AGRADECE DESDE CHILE

  • crystal castles made it better

  • Wonderful, they're one of the best.

  • One word: Joy.

  • How did Crystal Castle's Ethan Kath created this song into an alternative masterpiece? This song is already so versatile and brilliant,

  • @PDS444

He's a pretty creative dude. He did a similar thing on "Untrust Us" with that Death From Above 1979 sample.

  • I always have to pee when I listen to this song. Not that the song makes me have to pee. It's just convincident I guess.

  • icelandic is such a beautiful language <3

  • Oh my lord. I'm surrounded by a golden glory of music and I feel so alive.

  • Epic and inspirational.....my favourite band!!!!! :)

  • I love Sigur Ros. I want to ask, even though it's a dumb question

how does a song I cant understand a word of speak a such deep profound message to me?

  • @livingoutloud40 that´s the magic in all the sigur ros´ songs xD

  • Because music is in itself a langauge. It speaks more to the heart than the brain.

  • 2.25+

  • what a great song!

  • mersimult soldat

  • amazing

  • It's hard to translate Sigur Ros songs because of their Hopelandic translations into songs.

  • This song rocks. I am doing a dance to it at school and we have the best dance teacher too i personaly think.

  • Coldplay have got nothing on Sigur Ros.

  • i love dis band! XD

  • what is it with coldplay and accusations of song stealing, it seems to follow them

  • lovers in japan has a u2 feeling, an arena thing. this tune is much deeper than coldplays.

one of the greatest songs ever, btw

  • The lyrics are basically about Jonsi and his partner going to have sex.

  • that must be some great sex. i'll have a cup of what they having..... ;D

  • nice

  • Okay someone makes a song out of bells and etc and you call it copycat to another song with bells and etc.

Well then coldplay stole their from Bjork right? Cus if im right some of her songs sound like lovers in japan.. stop being stupid and forget it! Just enjoy this song, cus it aint often song like these are made for the world!

  • Which song sounds like Lovers in Japan, just curious...?

  • melhor banda da iceland que yo conostro..

  • This does sound remarkably like Lovers in Japan!

And Chris Martin had named Sigur Ros as one of his favorite bands...

  • yeah but this will have been written first. There's not a chance in hell in hell that Sigur Ros would ever go anywhere near a coldplay riff.

  • That is what I'm saying...I love Coldplay, but hey, that's what mainstream bands do, right? Constantly rip off of lesser known more talented bands, just like Sigur Ros.

  • Á silfurá, lýsir allan heiminn,

    og augun blá, skera stjörnuhiminn

    ég óska mér..

og loka nú augunum já gerðu það

    Nú rætist það, ónei..

I loooooove this song.. it makes me happy :)

  • Á silfur-á Lýsir allan heiminn og augun blá Skera stjörnuhiminn Ég óska mér og loka nú augunum Já gerðu það, nú rætist saga Ó nei!!! ----------- direct translation------- On a silver river lights up the whole world and the blue eyes cut the star sky I make a wish and close my eyes yes do so, now the story comes true o no!!!
  • @hoppaskoppa , nú rætist það ó nei :)

  • i love this song soo mutchh its so beutilful ;)

  • i have really been itching to find a translation to this song... anyone know where to find one??

  • eee ^_^

  • this song, today is saving me...

  • the video of this song should be the opposite of hoppipolla, kids doing adult things, then in the end towards the build up they all start to resort back to their childish ways

  • you could have like kinds in suits going to work and working in offices and then in the end taking the suits off the play outside.

  • isnt that a death cab video?

  • i have no idea

  • its the bes band in the world

  • sigur ros <3

  • I like this song very much!

    Sigur ros is great!

  • its weird man, i cant describe how these make me feel, i will just smile for a whole album.

  • i love them so much! this song just makes me feel happy :)

  • pure klass this song!!

  • translation of the name is

    ,,inside me sings a idiot"

this album is good but ther is one album that is the best album and that is Ágætis Byrjun(a great start) if you know icelandic.

  • this is the most perfect track..i just makes you feel amazing. Right now i feel like running across mountains and then diving from the top of a cliff into a still blue ocean and then flying off into the clouds while stars and blurry colours whizz past my face.

  • this is exect how i feel whenever i listen to the song.

    it's pure auditory bliss.

  • I gonna see them september 20!!!!!! I'm so excited!

  • i wish i knew Iclandic...

  • I wish you could spell it....

  • hahaha . good one!

  • eg bjo a islandi fyrir sma stund og eg er fra skotlandi blah blah..

but this album is really fantasitc and so are the lyrics, i love singin them..

  • i love this song . my neighbour is in that band :D .. his name is kjartann and he's playing on the piano :D very niiice huh ? :p

  • Awesome

    lyricwiki[dot]org/Sigur_R%C3%B3s:Inn%C3%AD_M%C3%A9r_Syngur_Vitleysingur

  • oh so good song.

    eelska þetta lag shit :D

  • i had a nice irish jig to this

  • thats a folk dance for the people who don't understand this ^_-

  • A PERFECT song. Wow.

  • is it just me or does that sound a little bit like the early stone roses stuff?

  • this is just bloody lovely especially that final blast of of tune right at the end.

  • Yup I agree. Too bad I can't understand a word they're saying, but it's still beautifull.

  • I love thjis song and the lyrics are funny

    its like this on english ;

    I Swallow a tear

and i breath hair and the songs name on icelandi is Inside me sings a weirdo or somthing like that

  • Well I know that the song is called "inside me a madman sings"...I just looked up the translations

  • brilliant song! i heard this for the 1st time on radio 1 today on jo whiley's show =)

  • stupenda...

  • I love the music, it's so great

  • I frickin' love Sigur Ros ♥

  • the name of the band is Sigur Rós :D

  • I love this song, it's the best from the new album!!

  • on of my favorite songs with sigu rós so far, and lucky for me I can understand everysingle word couse Im Icelandic:P, and the title inní mer singur vittlisingur means " in me sings a idiot" or something like that you porbly have a nicer word for vittlisingur than an idiot i think

  • uu..það er vitleysingur..ekki vittlisingur

  • Hey!

Já, I translate it personally as lunatic which sort of makes the song more mad but I guess translation is open to interpretation especially with such a beautiful language as Icelandic.

    Take it easy!

  • One of my favourite songs off the new disc. I'm really looking forward to seeing them at Massey Hall.

  • perfec song

  • so amazing.

it makes me so happy, but hopelandic isn't exactly understandable for someone icelandic either. some of it isn't even real words in any language and isn't gramatically correct if it is.

however, this is my favourite sigur ros song so far :)

  • This is icelandic...sometimes they sing in hopelandic wich is kinda a made up language but is undarstandable for those hwo speak icelandic. But all the songs on MEÐ SUÐ Í EYRUNUM VIÐ SPILUM ENDALAUST are sung in icelandic

  • The last track is in English.
