@lovetodance christina was asked to sing bc christina has always praised etta since day 1. she sung etta songs n other classic blues singers since she was a child and sung at last bc she LOVED the song throughout her career, not to promote a film. at the end of the day, it is not a talent show, its a damn funeral, and christina has always respected etta,n she christina. and etta's family felt christina was deserving to honor her and felt that is what etta wanted.

Etta was SOOO pleased by this performance its a shame how people take something soo loving and turn it into something ugly.Like it or not Beyonce introduced Etta's music to this generation.I had NO IDEA who Etta was before Cadillac Records and some people even thought she died years ago according to a CNN story.Beyonce used her own money to produce Cadillac Records because people didn't want that story told of Chess Records.Now I am a HUGE Etta James fan her voice WAS soul.
