I read the story of the Thetis as a teenager - in my submarine/underwater phase. always since fascinated me. According to the book I read it was partly due to a test cock on a torpedo tube being blocked with paint and the end thus being opened when it was openeto the sea

I have read accounts of the sinking but could never visualise the inspection tap for the torpedo tube. This video demonstrated exactly what is was - thanks for the posting. It is a sad indictment to Liverpool that there are literally hundreds of thousands of YouTube "hits" for Liverpool/ Everton FC - whilst only 3400 have watched this video.
