  • Loved it! Nice taking a lil' stroll back to our 'grass roots'... ;)

  • Not nice to make fun of someone who is deceased. ref.- Rob Grill.

  • @Planktontwo wtf are u talking about keep retard comets to ur self...

  • RIP Rob Grill...It is so harsd to believe that these great songs were so many years ago...I never thought I'd live to be a senior citizen. I may be an old fart now...but these songs always make me feel young one more time...God bless the '60's.

  • @saunders49 Well said and yes time waits for no man. That is the psychology of living. I was born in 1952 so getting on a bit now. As a kid you think a lifetime is forever when actually as human beings we come and go very quickly in the grand scheme of things. As you said God bless the 60's and all those that made the music for us.

  • @betabloca I have to agree with you. I too was born in 1952 and the best music came from the 50's and the 60's.

  • @saunders49 , Old fart has nothing to do with it. Nowadays I have friends in their late 20s or younger and early 30s discovering this music for the first time and they breath a deep sigh of relief. This is REAL music; Real singing, real instrument playing, etc..

  • @saunders49 Aye to that

  • i can imagine going a road trip with this song playing

  • this song is actually REALLY fucking awesome

  • I actaully grew up knowing who the Grass Roots were, im 17 now, my grandpa loved them, i just now realized thats Creed from my favorite T.V show, small world :)

  • Chad Lite: Excuse me. You're Creed Bratton, guitar player for Grass Roots in the late 1960s.

Creed: I am indeed. How'd you know that?

Chad Lite: I wrote your obituary.

Creed: Oh, oh that's right! Good work. Thank you very much, sir

  • no stache...cool. stache you suck the stache transforms a good man into an asshole lose allstaches you scum

  • Whats all this talk about creed? (I was born in 1990 =/)

  • @deuces4life2 Creed Bratton look it up

  • @chillydog12345

Jimmy Durante! An honor and so long ago. Hard to believe it was that long ago when we listened to the Grass Roots on our radios. Give me those 4-4 songs any day over what's going on now. Keep it short too. Thanks. Lamar

  • @deuces4life2 lol

  • @deuces4life2 he was a musician, and now is an actor on 'The Office'

  • Gosh, I'm old. ;])

  • That was awesome :)

  • @xzeroevil you got that right lol amazing

  • 1:48- hahahahahaha! This guy cracks me up! He really thinks he's "that cool"

  • @gride555 hahahahahaha HE IS THAT COOL!

  • @gride555 creed

  • The chorus sort of reminds me of the Drifters' 'Count the tears'

  • The song is actually pretty bad ass and the fact that Creeds in it just makes it all the more awesome.

  • cool

  • ASCOTS! c:

  • Almost 4000 like this music

    and 46 tone dead people didn't soooooooooo...sad!!!

  • OMG YES! I heard this at Walgreens and could not figure it out!

  • I still see the old man in Creed when I see him

  • lmao yes he does! ^_^

  • Is it just me, or does Creed look sorta like Dwight Shrute in this video??

  • Creed Bratton is my hero

  • R.I.P Robert Grill you were a good singer and a great bass player.

  • 3pm has a great cover for this

  • this is me and my boyfriends song :)

  • so good

  • what a great song! this time was a golden age!

  • Great song! They really exuded vibrant youthfulness. So much joy and expectation in the lyrics.

People back then were so slim and fit. They must have a diet very different from ours.

  • @BeztMuzic

That was almost 45 yrs ago. We all looked like that. :-)

  • Real Groovy. Like far out man. You dig whta I'm saying baby.

  • real groovy, like far out man

  • one of my all time favorites!

  • My big gay boyfriend sent me!

  • @Joseline1975 He's not gay, he just has good taste in music.

  • @fav13andacdc He actually IS gay AND has excellent taste in music.

  • @Joseline1975 Well I'm not gay and have good taste in music :p

  • Durante should have said they have a lawnmower. Now that's funny! :-) Also I like how elegant they were dressed then. I like my 80's music too but they looked ridiculous at times. 60's was class...

  • Durante should have said they have a lawnmower. Now that's funny! :-) Also I like how elegant they were dressed then. I like my 80's music too but they looked ridiculous at times. 60's was class...

  • yay for stolen melodies...

Ben E. King and The Drifters

    "I Count The Tears"

  • Ladies and gentlemen, the "Grass Roots"-now try the veal.

  • need some summer lovin'...

  • R.I.P Robert Frank Grill, and for those who still live like warren entner, and every ones fav Creed Bratton

  • Yes people, the Sixties were pretty gay. College was cheap. Women were easy. And everybody smoked pot. And drove affordable muscle cars.

  • The lead guitar looked so gay its not even funny. I dont have anything against them but its funny how you can just see it sometimes. Awesome guitar riff and awesome song fore some kick ass karaeoki alone or with a backup

  • Song was a big hit in the 60's, but I never saw them live until they came to Nashville in 1986-87 as part of a big nostalgia 60's tour. I've always played guitar and thought it so odd how they would chord E in the chorus during, ".....live for today."

  • เพลงนี้ก่อนผมเกิดอีก...but i ike

  • classic

  • The message of this song is as important today as when this was performed. Live for today.

  • lol the things they wear around their necks.

  • @10000wingsformarie It's called a neckerchief. Just a fancy handkerchief.

  • my mom is 51 and still listines to this

  • 1:55. Classic Creed.

  • @nicholasperry56 For sure...that's the best part of the song ♥♥

  • An incredible melodic song ! Great times back then produced amazing anthems ! these times we live in now - they're worthless,..its all i-phones and ipods n shit,..video games,..its sad

  • Which is better, Jimmy Durante or The Grass Roots?

  • A beautiful man in every way! RIP Rob, hope you are playing your music in YOUR alternate universe now....

  • The guy to lead vocalist's left is so damn fine! Mmm, I'd go -oh-so gay for him. LOL

  • There was the British Invasion, and there were the Grass Roots. RIP, Rob.

  • Thats must have felt Gayish

  • justin bieber died? whew! I thought we'd have to hear that forever! LOL

  • Quintessential 60s culture. Like Duane Allman once stated.... "If you want to know what's going on with the culture, listen to the music. It's like a newspaper for people who can't read"

  • Creed looked so good back then.

  • This song is the exact description of my teen-aged bride in 1966-1967. No worries except Viet Nam looming as I was in the USAF at that time.

  • jimmy durante lmao wow

  • 45 people are actually living for today, on account of today's Top 40 pop garbage.

  • I can't believe Jimmy Durante introduced these guys. I thought he was out of the picture by this time, meaning I didn't ever see him introducing a rock group like this. I always associated him with the big band era of the '40s.

  • @cockyhemi -- It was actually common for old-time comics hosting variety shows in the 60s to have Rock bands on the show to attract younger viewers. In this video Durante is guest hosting HOLLYWOOD PALACE. In the mid 1960s the 1st live appaearance on primetime network TV by THE ROLLING STONES was on The Red Skelton Show.

  • I prefer the original version, "Piangi con me" in Italian language

  • i'm thinking chris isaak should cover this song

  • He's pretty!

  • I am not yet 40 years old. I saw these guys several times in the late 80s and early 90s. I always enjoyed their shows! Great music that flew under the radar!

  • "They don't have a manager, they have a...." WHAT???? I can't understand him.

  • @stevepwood a gardener

  • Grill died.

  • dude wtf creed was always my favorite person on the office had no idea he was in a band til now.. fuckin awesome

  • I don't even watch "The Office" and I think that look is hilarious!

  • sha-la-la-la-la

  • Good tune thoughs who don't like aren't as old as my newest tatoo

  • Love Jimmy Durante!

  • The look on Creed Bratton's face at around 1:55 is priceless!!! This cracks me up. Who knew??!!

  • 44 people aren't living for today.

  • I got to see the Grass Roots last summer in State College Pa.I got to talk to rob for a minute, and said I was a fan for forty two years.May God be watching over you and your family.Bob Foor

  • Will always be my favorite Grass Roots song. RIP Rob. Love you!!!!!!!!!!!

  • love this song but am amazed by these old video's that their are no mic's and their guitars arn't plugged in... lol

  • i went through the liberal indoctrination centers...it didn't take,I love the music not communism

  • u women got it nice :)

  • 1-2-3-4 - Warren Entner was so handsome

1:06 Creed spitting - so damned funny!!

  • Met Rob when I was nine...in a slightly disturbing compliment he told me to come back in ten years...well I'm eighteen now so he didn't make it to ten years anyway

  • Grass root are awsome:)

  • I've been saying this to every woman I've been with. Only works on hippie chicks.

  • RIP Rob. Love you Warren Entner!!!

  • RIP Rob

  • I really dig the ugly Baldwin guitars....

  • I got my 11 year old son hooked on this great group. He hasn't played or listened to them in a while then came last week and out of the blue he started singing "Live For Today" ironically the same week Rob died. I understand Rob was listening to that great song when he died and that it was his favorite of them all. Kind of freeky but cool.

  • I went up to Rob for his autograph after his show in 1983 in Lincoln Nebraska, he seemed surprised but was so nice, now I wish I could find that autograph, yes he and the band put on a great show that night as he really got into the music.

  • those are cool guitars. what kind are they?

  • Rest In Peace Rob Grill

  • Descansa en Paz Rob Grill...adoro tu música desde pequeño...

  • @Spirosaur Creed Bratton is CREED BRATTON! From the Office:)

  • @vbacs22 not everybody watches the Office. i personally don't understand what everyone's on about.

  • @Spirosaur Creed Bratton is one of the guitarists. If you have also seen the American version of The Office he is one of the main characters in it. His character has the same name as him.

  • @Spirosaur Creed is on the TV Show "The Office" He was in this Band.

  • @Mausome your joking right? if so i didn't know that love that show and this band

  • @chasevestal I started watching 'The Office" almost a year ago for the first time. I'm now a huge fan. Every Actor & Actress on the Show is a Great fit including 'Creed'. I dont usually watch re-runs on TV but I do with 'The Office' re-runs.

  • @Mausome Then your just like me!!! I got netflix and never really watched the office tho many friends love it. Needless to say I ended up watching every episode that netflix had like 119 i think! I am now having office withdraws! I tried watching other funny shows but nothing compares!!! Creed is so funny! Creed- " Hi children. Do you want to see a foot with only four toes?!" haha so funny. My dad likes the grass roots and i would steal his music when i was young so it makes it so much greater!

  • @chasevestal Check out 'The Office - Classic Creed Part 2' on You Tube. All his Funniest Stuff. LOL

  • @chasevestal oh my gosh same here ! Ive been waiting and waiting for netflix to update it and they still havent after around nine months >__<

  • @Spirosaur a character from the show "the office"

  • @Spirosaur He's a CHaracter from "The Office," past member of this band, and still living.

  • @Spirosaur

Creed is the tall one, standing near the drummer. He is also currently one of the stars of the American version of "The Office".

  • @Spirosaur The creepy one on guitar.

  • @Spirosaur he's a member of the band and plays a character of the same name on the office. and probably.

  • @Spirosaur You sound like an ignorant jackass when you realize that creed is the guitarist for the band :)

  • Creed is the same Creed in the TV show the Office!!

  • man how awesome plus with Jimmy Durante! Thanks so much!!

  • Rob was such a beautiful and talented man who was probably too good for this world. We were blessed to have him as long as we did. Now he sings with the angels. RIP Rob.

  • Hey now. I"m 58. This will always be a great tune!

  • FRAUD FAKE THIS USER IS A TOTAL SCAM ALL THESE VIDEOS ARE FAKE THIS IS A RIP OFF COMPANY. I COMPLETELY CHECKED WITH USBANK AND THIS IS A TOTAL FRAUD!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The only thing weird about this video is Jimmy Durante...That gardner joke was pretty good.

  • RIP Rob!! You are so special!! Miss you! Keep the songs going!! Live for today & forever!!

  • 2 3 4 sha la la la la la live for today! RIP Rob...another vocal icon of the first Golden Era.

  • Wow, what a delicious slice of bygone American pop culture!

I think these guys charted something like 29 singles, 10th on the all time Billboard 100 list, and its easy to see why., Their hits were bursting with so many memorable hooks you only had to hear a song once, and you couldn’t get it out of your head. The lyrics never sounded forced or trite, and seemed to flow naturally from the beautifully crafted melodies. Rob is gone, but the music lives on!

  • Shocked to hear of Rob's passing. RIP.

  • The Grassroots were one of the best groups of their time and Rob Grill had a great voice gone to soon R.I.P ROB

  • the first cross country tour i ever did was opening for them. i haven't seen rob or warren in a long time, but i always liked them both very much and the tour was great fun. part of a beechnut gum promotion where high schools could win the grass roots and me for the day. you will be missed pal.

    james

  • saw these guys at the Bandshell in Daytona Beach in '66 when I was a little nerdy geeky gawky teenager . . . a nice memory

  • just got word of Robs death today Rest in peace guy. Still cant get over the fact Creed is "creed" on the office. he kinda looks like dwight a lil when he was younger.

  • i don't even know the group's front man personally, but he will sadly be missed. what a talent

  • ah cha cha cha cha

  • R.I.P. Rob. The Great Gig In The Sky has been awaiting another great bass player.

  • The classic line up. The boards are mourning the loss of Rob Grill today. A time to celebrate and play his music now.

  • I loved these guys in the day. RIP Rob Grill.

  • R.I.P Bob Grill.....
